"In Your Hat" opens with a despondent Ed lamenting the theft of his 'lucky hat,' a gift from his late wife Margaret 20 years before, snatched from his cranium by a juvenile Chicano (he had to be Mexican due to the famous Mexican hat dance!). Without his good luck charm bad things start to happen, from a busted toilet seat to an encounter with a harried delivery man (Arnold Stang) whose boss doesn't trust him. The final indignity comes trying to lift a box full of heavy batteries, needing an operation to repair a ruptured disc, Julio Medina as Cuban quack Doctor Spanola (first of three). Chico hates to see The Man suffer: "don't look!" We get a little background on the younger Chico, who was a typical street tough before Ed Brown took him in and taught him a trade.
