When Poncherello sings to Vanessa, he is on a tall ladder due to her apartment being on the third floor. When he later goes there to give her the dog, it is now on the second floor, unit 220.
In the CHP car crash, Webster's car is shown very close to the stopped car at a lower speed, then when the camera angle changes it is much further back and going much faster.
Making out with your girlfriend while on duty while your partner is conducting a traffic stop would not be tolerated by real police officers nor real supervisors, as it exposes the other officer to danger. It would not be laughed off as shown, and in fact disciplinary action would be taken. Additionally, Getraer displays a poor supervisory practice of criticizing a single officer in the presence of other officers.
CHP cadets are not assigned to motorcycle duty out of the academy, and would not be used for field duty as was depicted.
In the initial crash, the car that flies over the other car was shown going the same speed as the car ahead of it prior to the crash and immediately behind it. Given the short distance involved, it could not have built up the speed required to fly the distance it flew.
While Ponch is singing and climbing the ladder to Vanessa's balcony, there's a closeup of Vanessa's face as she looks longingly at Ponch, yet she's looking straight ahead even though Ponch is more than ten feet below her.
When Poncherello and Nelson talk to the boy with the dog, they are at the same Buick dealer where the first crash took place, indicating the same streets were used for filming.
Before Poncherello and Nelson respond to the second robbery and days later after they leave Parker's home, the same Chevrolet Monte Carlo is behind them and the same orange van and Pontiac car can be seen on opposite sides of the road as they ride by. This indicates the same road and footage were used for both scenes.
When Vanessa starts her Mercury LN7 convertible after Poncherello asks her out, the starter/engine sound is from a Dodge V-8 engine, similar to the CHP cars used in the show. The LN7 used a smaller 4 cylinder engine.
In the second robbery, the call is given as being located at "Benedict and Clearview", yet the location was a rural road with no intersection.
Mr. Parker calls in to the answering service that he is going to the bank, and leaves right away. Sandy, the receptionist at the answering service, then calls via radio to the robbers that she has a job for them. Although she would not have known of the job until Parker called, the robbers are already waiting outside his home when she radios them.
Just as he did in Force Seven (1982), Poncherello makes a DUI arrest with no field sobriety testing such as walking a line.
When Nelson calls in the first crash, he says roll ambulance and tow trucks instead of using the proper CHP radio codes of 11-41 and (the number required) 11-85. He later uses correct codes at the CHP car crash.
While trailing the robber's truck, Poncherello says to hang back and hide until backup arrives. In a subsequent scene, Nelson's motorcycle is shown to have the red lights flashing while they are doing so.
