- TriviaThe orangutan sub-plot is similar in several ways to Every Which Way But Loose (1978), to include scenes from the Palomino club involving a female singer.
- GoofsNelson passes himself and Poncherello off at the Palomino Club as an out of town rancher and his foreman, yet a couple of days earlier both had been involved in a bar fight there after Poncherello identified himself as a CHP officer, so they would both be known to patrons as cops. Additionally, both singers acknowledged the bar fight while looking at Nelson and Poncherello, so that would prove they were not new to the club as Nelson had mentioned.

Awful
This is one of the worst and cheesiest episodes of CHiPs. When an aspiring country singer's brother, who has an orangutan, was arrested for rustling cattle (allegedly), Ponch took it upon himself to take care of the orangutan, inexplicably at the station. The novelty was long gone by this point. The writers desperately grasped for ratings with rehashed silliness like this. When they go to see the country singer, Mickey Gilley and some other country singer also performed. Again, this just shows how desperate the writers were to keep the show afloat. This episode is really just embarrassing overall.
