One class field trip which left a lasting impression.
I was fortunate to experience this glorious production with my 6th grade class. I was astounded to see how magnificent an opera could be. The idea of this show was to introduce children to the splendor and beauty of The Metropolitan Opera. I remember seeing the grace and magic of Beverly Sills who was the grand dam of the Met. Combine this with the genteel warmth of host Danny Kaye, and you have the makings of what dreams are. The powerful image of the sets, the wall of music from the chorus, and the intricate costuming will forever imprint an ethereal vision within my memory. This show influenced my love for the performing arts and has directed me toward a career in theater. Thirty years have passed and I have not seen a quality program for children as well produced as this since.
