Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaThe only season finale of Buffy not to be written and directed by Joss Whedon.
- GoofsWhen Buffy tells Giles that it was her time to die, and she doesn't know why she was brought back, that another slayer would've just taken her place, this was incorrect. Buffy had been killed by The Master previously and was replaced by Kendra, and Faith replaced Kendra when Drusilla killer her, so Faith would have to die before another slayer was called forth. Buffy's death no longer figured into the chain of slayers.
- Quotes
Willow Rosenberg: You can't stop this.
Xander Harris: Yeah. I get that. It's just, where else am I gonna go? You've been my best friend my whole life. World gonna end, where else would I wanna be?
Willow Rosenberg: Is this the master plan? You're gonna stop me by telling me you love me?
Xander Harris: Well, I was gonna walk you off a cliff and hand you an anvil, but it seemed kinda cartoony.
Willow Rosenberg: Still making jokes.
Xander Harris: I'm not joking... I know you're in pain. I can't imagine the pain you're in. And I know you're about to do something apocalyptically evil and stupid, And, hey, I still wanna hang. You're Willow.
Willow Rosenberg: Don't call me that!
Xander Harris: The first day of kindergarten, you cried because you broke the yellow crayon and you were too afraid to tell anyone. You've come pretty far. Ending the world, not a terrific notion... But the thing is... yeah, I love you. I love crayon-breaky Willow and I love scary-veiny Willow. So if I'm goin' out, it's here. If you wanna kill the world... well, then start with me. I've earned that.
Willow Rosenberg: You think I won't?
Xander Harris: It doesn't matter. I'll still love you.
Willow Rosenberg: Shut up!
[casts a spell on him, so he bleeds from his cheek]
Xander Harris: I love you.
[Willow casts another spell on him, making him fall over from pain and bleed from other parts of his body as well]
Xander Harris: I... love you.
Willow Rosenberg: Shut up!
[casts a spell again, but hits him weakly]
Xander Harris: I love you, Willow.
Willow Rosenberg: Stop!
[tries to cast another spell, but fails]
Xander Harris: I love you!
Willow Rosenberg: [crying] Stop!
[Xander comes towards her, and she starts hitting him all over his body, but falls on her knees into a moving hug with him, with her bawling]
Xander Harris: [whispering] I love you...
[while still crying and hugging Xander, Willow's hair gradually becomes redder and her veins disappears, allowing the old Willow to appear]
- SoundtracksPrayer of Saint Francis
Performed by Sarah McLachlan
The dialog between Willow and Giles is a good example of this.
Willow, overflowing with pain, having found an addiction to have the love of her life killed senselessly, standing before him with endless rage, is told "I'm sorry about Tara" in the most bland uninterested voice as if they were discussing toast. I remember watching, and when Willow started to slap Buffy around, realizing that I was on the villains side.
