Did you know
- TriviaCarroll O'Conner, who played Tom Slayden, would go on to star as Archie Bunker in the iconic TV series "All in the Family", the continuing series "Archie Bunker's Place, and then as Sparta Police Chief Bill Gillespie in the TV series "In the Heat of the NIght" based on the 1967 film of the same name.
- GoofsLate in the show, "stock" or "other" footage from a previous episode was used when Adam shot one of Slayden's men (Mike) off the top of a big rock. There is also a "continuity" issue... the stunt man was not wearing the same clothes and hat as Mike before he climbed up the big rock. Lastly, when the stunt man "hit the ground" below, the hidden "air bag" bounced up.

Tom Slayden: I've got customers, Karen, I can't afford friends.

Some big city methods
Virginia City is growing and freighter Carroll O'Connor decides some big city type
methods are needed. He has visions of being a big city boss and controlling Virginia City's supplies will gain him the recognition. But when one of his gunmen
shoots Michael Landon when he was hauling supplies for the Ponderosa that puts
him at war with the Cartwrights.
Carroll O'Connor does a fine job as the would be boss of Virginia City. Ironically today Virginia City survives with a nominal population on the tourist trade. Who knows what might have happened had they a town boss. In real life the town was built high in the Sierras for access to the fabled Comstock Lode. When it dried up so did Virginia City.
