I have a friend who is a devout Catholic. He always tells me that the Catholic priesthood is the last bastion of rampant homosexuality. What other reason would they want to take a vow that they do not want carnal knowledge of a woman!
The first episode of Bognor starts off with the murder of a monk. Some of the other monks are a little on the camp side. The one featured in this episode would had made Larry Grayson look butch.
Simon Bognor who works in codes and ciphers with the Department of Trade is sent in to investigate.
The dead monk was an undercover agent for the Trade Department. The friary is suspected of passing agricultural secrets to the Russians.
Luckily at the crime scene the chief constable is distantly related to Bognor by marriage. However Bognor does not realise that danger is stalking him.
This is a quirky investigative series made by Thames Television. I have no recollection of it when it was first broadcast. I did think the incidental music was annoying and out of place.
The series name Bognor does not inspire much enthusiasm and I only came across it by accident.
David Horovitch is rather bland as Bognor. He is supposed to be a bumbler. His boss has little time for but his wife adores him.
