The Bill are bought into a child custody dispute. Joyce Ferne's son is a ward of court. Joyce's father has no time for his daughter and her violent husband. He does care about his grandchild though.

Galloway gets involved, he wants Alan Ferne found suspecting that he might had taken his infant son and may become violent.

Litten shows his inexperience again. Although he played it by the book he allows a smartly dressed gentleman to take a car from the police impound.

Somehow the hunt for the car gives a clue to the possible whereabouts of Alan Ferne.

I would call this a busy but lukewarm episode. It is bitty, it involves a domestic dispute but never it rises above average.

There is a terrific fight at the end as Alan Ferne lashes out against the police officers who try to arrest him. Alan Ferne was played by Tip Tipping. A rising stuntman/stunt arranger who sadly died at a young age during a filming accident.
