Darrin's music box gift to Samantha plays "Torna a Surriento", a Neapolitan song composed in 1902 by Italian musician Ernesto de Curtis to words by his brother, the poet and painter Giambattista de Curtis. Claude Aveling wrote the English language lyrics, which are titled "Come Back to Sorrento".
The title comes from the legend of the golden touch of King Midas.
Cosmo Sardo appeared in a dozen episodes, mostly as uncredited extras, but here, in a bit of typecasting, he plays a barber, cutting Darrin's hair. Cosmo owned "Cosmos Barber Shop" just around the corner from the famous Schwab's Pharmacy in Hollywood.
