A character in this episode is named Doctor Eugene Twombly. Bea Benaderet's (Cousin Pearl Bodine) husband's birth name was Eugene Twombly.
This was Bea Benaderet's final appearance as Pearl except for a one-shot return in 1967; she left to star in the spin-off "Petticoat Junction."
Dick Wesson encores his role as Dr. Twombly's patient; he was also one of the show's writers and co-wrote this particular episode.
Granny, speaking about Dr. Twombly, says that "There must be 30 or 40 years difference in our ages." To which Pearl replies "At least." But in reality, Irene Ryan (Granny) was only 60 years old when this episode was made, and Herbert Rudley (Dr. Twombly) was 52--only an 8-year age difference.
