Guest star Leo Durocher, playing himself, was a head coach of several major league baseball teams: Brooklyn Dodgers (before they moved to Los Angeles), New York Giants (before they moved to San Francisco), Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros, and the Taiheiyo Cub Lions (Japanese/Nippon League), compiling a record of 2,008-1,709/.540 win percentage. Ironically, at the time of filming, he was not in a head coaching position, although he was with the Dodgers.
This episode features some of the earliest footage of Dodger Stadium, which had just opened the previous year (1962).
Final acting appearance of Wally Cassell, who had begun his career in 1942 at age 30. He would live another 52 years, passing away in 2015 at age 103. Contrary to many Hollywood marriages then and since, he was married to the same woman, Marcy McGuire for 68 years. While she was 14 years younger than him, her career also spanned 1942-63.
Buzzie Bavasi, who is played by Wally Cassell, was actually the Dodgers' general manager at the time.
