Joan Collins, despite having made more than a score of movies, was best known, at the time this episode aired, for being the wife of Anthony Newley. According to Adam West's autobiography, Collins, who was doing a lot of U.S. TV at this point, also had a reputation for being difficult. Although she was very professional and cooperative during the taping of this episode, director George Waggner berated her mercilessly because of that reputation, reducing her almost to tears on at least one occasion. With help and encouragement from West and other people in the cast and crew, she was able to finish the episode with no further incidents.
The first of two episodes to feature the full-length version of the Batgirl theme song written by Billy May.

The seldom sung Batgirl theme goes thusly: Batgirrrl, Batgirl! Batgirrrl, Batgirl! Where do you come from, where do you go? What is your scene, baby, we just gotta know. Batgirrrl, Batgirl! Batgirrrl, Batgirl! Are you a chick who fell in from outer space? Or are you real with a tender warm embrace? Yaaa, whose baby are you? Batgirrrl, Batgirl! Yaaa, whose baby are you? Batgirl!
