I agree, Lee Meriwether was quite good in her role, and I often compare her to Gail Fisher on MANNIX. To her advantage, producer Quinn Martin saw to it she got much larger roles, and even got to sing in a previous episode, and audiences appreciated that. That was a key element to the success of this series, and long before the addition of JR.
Another interesting story for Betty, quite original and with some very good acting on Lee's part.
Here, Betty undergoes hypnosis due to the fact that she can't remember details of a fatal car accident involving her friend. You have to admit, there's a subtle bit of Hitchcock at work here also. Betty is trapped in her car and sees the killer retrieve a letter off the victim. What's in the letter?
I agree with production notes, the crash of Betty's Ford Pinto was originally used in a previous season episode, obviously to save some money. Additionally, this was one of the few episodes to be written by a new writer, Shirley Leeds. She did an excellent job and should have written more stories.
Two top actors here; Granville Van Dusen (as Joe), best known for the YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS and Claudette Nevins (as Pat), frequently on the show, and one of the best "mystery lady" actresses. She later became a very successful voice actress, particularly for tv commercials.
Again, guessing the culprit is the best part, especially for all us fans from the beginning.
