- TriviaFirst of three times in the series that the subject of temporary blindness is presented.
- GoofsWhen Barnaby tells Amy that he found her apartment keys he holds them out to give to her. Belinda Montgomery momentarily forgets she's playing a blind person, as she instinctively reaches directly for the keys and doesn't waive her hand around like a blind person searching for them.
- Quotes
Barnaby Jones: It's kinda like finding a billiard table in a honeymoon suite. You gotta wonder what it's doing in there.

YOU'RE BEING WATCHED. YOU'RE NEXT!
BARNABY JONES was off and running for a second season, ranking about 17 in the top 20 Neilsen ratings for Sunday night, double featured with MANNIX and the famous CBS black mystery cat. Sundays were a lot of fun.
Walter Grauman returned as director, however this was the only episode written by Robert Malcolm Young, who at the time was also working on the STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO. Interestingly, he also wrote some fine scripts for the FBI, which was on ABC on Sunday nights, direct competition.
I agree with the last reviewer, hysterical blindness was a common thread in many cop shows and movies, but this will spike your interest very quickly.
The cast here is marvelous, co-starring young Belinda J. Montgomery (as Amy) whose friend is murdered before her eyes -- HOWEVER temporary blindness coupled with amnesia only makes her more vulnerable for the killer. Barnaby literally has to run out the clock to save her life.
Of course, the big question... whodunit? That will keep the late night coffee brewing.
Thers's also a touch of HAWAII FIVE O in these episodes; Barnaby was up against some crafty and lethal characters, and more to come.
Belinda Montgomery was a very successful actress who appearead in a string of creepy movies, such as the DEVILS DAUGHTER, just before this episode, co-starring Shelley Winters and the TODD KILLINGS (1971), a factual movie all about a Charles Manson-like serial killer.
The supporting cast is tops. Handsome Christopher Stone plays Eric, later a regular on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Patricia Smith is cast as Ellen and Dabney Coleman (who passed in 2024) plays Paul, the guy you have to keep an eye on. Both actors were favorites on CANNON.
As usual, filmed around Hollywood with a lot of memories, and fun to spot the streets and houses which have stood the test of time. Barnaby keeps his famous brown Ford LTD, which was a beautiful car in its day, later upgraded.
Quinn Martin had a long contract with Ford and Lincoln, hence Cannon's silver Mark IV. Likewise, Karl Malden drove a Ford LTD on STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO and Efrem Zimbalist, Jr drove Mustangs and sleek Thunderbirds on the FBI.
Personally, I think the cool cars Efrem Zimbalist drove on 77 SUNSET STRIP (his first series) inspired producer Quinn Martin.
Officially the first episode from SEASON 2 remastered color CBS/Paramount dvd box set. 6 dvds. According to Amazon, some of the box sets are on back order.
