The band "The Country Boys" appears in the background in the last scene. They had previously appeared in "Mayberry on Record." The shorter, dark-haired guitar player is Clarence White, who later joined the rock band The Byrds in 1968.
There was no musical number in the original script. The epilogue of this episode included The Country Boys playing "She'll Be Comin' 'Round the Mountain" because the episode was running short.
Floyd mentions his wife, Melba, who apparently passed away sometime before the third season, when he was a widower in "Floyd, the Gay Deceiver."
Barney's dialogue about marijuana was unusual for a television program of the early 1960s. The writers decided it was okay due to the recent media fanfare that had followed Robert Mitchum's arrest for possession.
The effects of the storm, the wind and the rain were created via special effects. The lightning, however, was stock footage.
