In the last scene before the epilogue, Andy meets the prisoner at the courthouse door as she is attempting to escape. As he leads her back inside, the scene flashes to Barney, who is shown working on the lock of the prisoner's case. When the scene flashes back to Andy leading the prisoner back into the cell, she is clearly holding the case in her hand.
Andy and Barney force Otis out of the courthouse and flip a coin to see who's going to take him home. When Barney loses and leaves courthouse, Andy locks the door behind him. Several minutes later, Barney returns, bursting in and not unlocking the door first.
Toward the end, when Andy lets the prisoner out of the cell, he inserts the key but does not turn it, yet the door swings open.
In "Andy and the Female Speeder," Andy brings Aunt Bee to the jail to stay with the prisoner because, "A female prisoner has to have a matron. It's the law." But here, Andy and Barney fight over who will stay with the female prisoner and never bring in a matron.
