Adjusted for inflation, in December 2022 the Williams house ($3,500) would be $33,646.52, Andy Taylor's house ($2,400) would be $23,071.90, Opie's bike ($5.00) would be $48.07 and Barney's would-be commission ($3478) would be $33,435.02.
The versatile Amzie Strickland, who appears here as prospective home buyer Lila Sims, previously appeared as Barney's love interest in Andy the Matchmaker (1960) and as Otis Campbell's sister-in-law in Deputy Otis (1962).
The bicycle Opie attempts to sell to his friend for $5 was actually the brand-new bicycle Andy bought him for an "all-A" report card in Opie's Ill-Gotten Gain (1963). Here, the bicycle is heavily worn with many wear-and-tear faults.
Andy says that he bought his house from Mr Parmely.
Andy states that he bought the house, so it wasn't a family home that he inherited and with no mortgage, he owns it outright. It's unclear how a small-town sheriff in his early 30s could pay cash for any house, but especially a large, 2-story home in a nice neighborhood.
