In 2010, Good Morning America (1975) performed an (unscientific) survey in which they posed the riddle to 17 fifth-graders, and the majority did answer that the surgeon was the boy's mother; those children who did not give "the mother" as the answer said instead that the boy had two (gay) fathers.
Billy Sands (Man in Bar), in his final appearance, is shown at Kelcy's with Allan Melvin (Barney Hefner). Ironically both Billy Sands and Alan Melvin were regulars on The Phil Silvers Show as Pvt. Dino Papparelli (Billy Sands) and Cpl. Steve Henshaw (Allan Melvin).
First mention of Sybil Gooley, the checkout clerk at Ferguson's Market. (Note: Sybil had been previously mentioned on the earlier "Mike's Problem" (1971).
Final appearance of Brendan Dillon as Tommy at Kelsey's (which may or may not be Tommy Kelsey).
In the DVD release of the third season (disc 1), this episode is the third one on the disc, instead of the fourth one (the actual chronological order of airing)
