Clark Kent receives a carrier pigeon in a shoebox, directing him to a bunch of thieves. So, after getting rid of nosy Lois and Jimmy, Kent turns into Superman and flies out the window following the bird. (Of course, no one in the entire Daily Planet building saw or heard this).
Anway, we get our first glimpse at the thugs: four guys hanging out in the usual shack that has been used for many episodes. The actors all look familiar including young Paul Burke who went on to star a few years after this the police drama, "Naked City."
Anyway, they are discussing what they going to do with all the loot they've stolen. "Rosy" (Burke) pops up first and says, "I'm going to build a big estate that looks like a penitentiary, so my friends will feel like home." "Gee, Rosy, that's a good idea," says another of the thugs. "I'll be there every night!!" I love it. That's the kind of crooks' dialog you hear so often on these old Superman shows, which helps make them so entertaining.
Anyway, the crooks see on their fancy radar that the bird is returning and that something is following it, probably Superman. (These guys - at lead the lead criminal - aren't as dumb as most of the bad guys on this show.). Apparently, they figured out a way to become invisible with all that fancy electronic equipment they have. Superman busts right through the house but finds, to his amazement, nobody there. Puzzled, he flies back to the Daily Planet.
Afterwards, all kinds of tricks and gamesmanship are played by Superman and the criminals but you just know who outwits whom in the end! It's a fun episode
