I agree with the last reviewer, this is a bit creepy and the most original part is good guys Van Williams and Alan Hale, Jr., play bad guys! That's fun, special thanks to series writer Robert C. Dennis, long time writer for Alfred Hitchcock's tv show. It all makes sense.
If you're a tv buff, the story has the feel of a PERRY MASON episode with all the twists and turns, and some dark moments. It also gives Suzanne a much larger role for a change of pace. Suzanne goes undercover as a French heiress, trying to get the goods on shady Van Williams (as Wade). But what happens when she falls in love with the guy? Good support from Joyce Meadows as Wade's wheelchair bound sister.
Creeping in the background in Alan Hale, Jr., just before fame on GILLIGANS ISLAND. Hale plays Baxter, replete with a sly look and toothpick, who is blackmailing Wade, a tennis pro turned swindler.
Popular character actor Charles Lane plays the man who hires on Jeff and Kookie.
There's one goof if you catch it fast. As Wade is banging on the front door of his sisters's house, you could see the wall move. He does bust down the door though.
There's a terrific chase scene through the woods between Wade and Suzanne, adding to the noirish feel. Top direction by series director Paul Landres. 10 Stars for an episode that made the show so enormously popular and a part of cult tv history.
SEASON 5 EPISODE 14 remastered. Thanks to METV for running this classic series on Sunday nights. Note there are some episodes of the series on European dvd, however they will not play on American made dvd players.
