Child's play

A rather funny story which begins with Stu asked for because a star female child seems to have stolen a jewel from her family. As you see, you deal here with a sort of light, comedy tale. The ten years old little actress is amusing and most of the interest of this episode remains on her. If a great Hollywood director would have made it, I would have seen Walter Lang or Georges Sidney, or Sid Landfield; here it is Leslie Martinson. OK, there is a little thriller line here, where some adult elements remain after all, besides the child's playground. That's not an unforgettable story, but amusing enough to waste fifty minutes of your time.

Rude Publicity Brat

Evelyn Rudie plays the main role, of Angel, the child star. The 1950s TV shows had more than a few really ugly kids that were also incredibly annoying.

Evelyn Rudie plays Angel. Angel is accused of stealing her Mom's precious jewels, and an investigation is on to find out where the jewels are hidden. The suspicions are that Angel stole the jewels to get her name in the news, for the sake of her acting career.

In fact, the actress that plays Angel (Evelyn Rudie) had pulled a publicity stunt in real life in 1959, when she was on the news because she disappeared for several days. Evelyn Rudie had booked herself a flight to Washington to meet Mamie Eisenhower, to ask her for help getting on a TV series.

Rudie's disappearance created a lot of publicity for her. This episode of 77 Sunset Strip was Evelyn Rudie's next to last role. Her acting career would be over by the following year.
