An outstanding hour of "24"
IvanJolic9 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The plot goes:

Kim arrives at CTU, with her always amazing timing, and learns that her father is still alive. Meanwhile at the White House, the Vice President shows up with some suggestions on the crisis, while the first lady deals with with the whole situation with her husband. Oh, and nobody knows that in the meantime a terrorist has infiltrated CTU and plans to release nerve gas into the building's ventilation system. (Also killing Carrie in the process; she had just 2 ahort appearances in the season, got fired for no reason in her first one and now killed in her second one, the poor thing hah.)

Review:

A smashing episode, and for me this is one of the best (maybe the best) hours during the show's 8 year run, mainly because it just feels different than pretty much any other "24" episode. It's an episode that mixes emotion with tremendous suspense, and the result is outstanding. Also, everything from writing to producing, directing and acting is of top-quality, and the script has much composure with its great dialogues. The wonderful suspense building up as the hour progresses really delivers at the end with an amazing and dramatic climax. resulting in the death of Edgar (who had suspiciously become a more likable character in season 5), in front of Chloe's eyes. This episode also has the reunion of Kim and her father, and it is just handled amazingly, Kim's reaction is perfect, the scene is very realistic and both actors do an excellent job here. In-between things, there's a great first appearance from the Vice President, and even the scenes with Martha Logan are very good. An all-round outstanding episode.

Pulls no punches

Warning: Spoilers
Superb episode, and not a dull moment throughout. But more than just suspense, it superbly mixes in heavy emotional scenes; particularly the Jack & Kim family reunion. Up to this point, Jack's "death" has been from his perspective, and Kim represents the personal toll of this job on the people around him. it's a great scene all around.

Jack also gets to interrogate his former boss (Peter Weller), which has its own weight; we've only ever seen him punishing bad guys, bot someone who knows the game like he does.

Sadly, he isn't afforded much time before CTU is under attack, and it's here that the emotions once again come into play. and that silent clock on (SPOILER) packs a surprising punch.

It's a sad end, but what a ride!

Kim Is Back in the Serpent's Den
Hitchcoc31 January 2019
Some really exciting stuff here. First of all, the Vice President has shown up with a plan for martial law to prevent casualties; however; he must have his own agenda. He is played by that guy I loved to hate on "Twin Peaks." That Russian guy has infiltrated CTU by using McGill's key card. Security really sucks at times. Kim is back, one of my least favorite characters. She is just finding out that Jack is alive. There are times when I forget all this takes place in one day. I mean, in the morning, Jack was with that family, hiding out. They continue to interrogate the former boss. And then a devastating loss takes place at the end. Great episode.

CTU Under Attack
NineBall229012 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode the nerve gas is released inside of CTU. Of course Jack and Kim survive, but most of the people in CTU don't. This includes Edgar. This is one the best episodes ever. At the end of the Episode the survivors are trapped in sealed rooms waiting for the gas to subside. While they are in the room, we see this one lady come to the door after it is sealed. Jack says, "There is nothing we can do to help her." Then she fails to the ground and dies. The episode ends when Edgar comes back to his work station to find that no one is there. He looks and sees people, including Chloe, in the situation room. Then he too dies. Also the episode ends with a silent clock, instead of the normal beeping.
