A month ago, Disney announced a major streamlining of its media and entertainment businesses, separating content creation from distribution. Distribution and commercialization was centralized into a single global unit, Media and Entertainment Distribution, led by Kareem Daniel, while content creation was divided into three groups: Studios, General Entertainment and Sports, headed by Alan Horn and Alan Bergman Peter Rice and Jimmy Pitaro, respectively.
Today, Rice, chairman of General Entertainment Content, unveiled the structure of his division, which includes a new direct report, Nat Geo’s Courtney Monroe; changes in titles and responsibilities for existing direct reports Gary Marsh and Dana Walden; and restructuring of the division’s marketing operations, which will be handled by Shannon Ryan and newly appointed Jayanta Jenkins, alongside FX marketing president Stephanie Gibbons. (Rice made the announcement in an internal memo. You can read it below the story.)

It takes a lot of guts to say, "We just did the last, indistinguishable Underworld sequel, maybe one of the biggest stars in the world wants to work with us!" But that's just what's happening with Millennium Films and directors Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein. The duo are behind South China Sea, a pretty bombastic-sounding action film, and their sights are set high on who they want to lead the project. Someone put their big boy pants on today! Deadline reports that an offer is out to Tom Cruise to star in South China Sea. Written by Kerry Williamson (Alex Cross) with a re-write by Michael Stokes (The Marsh), the action thriller has an absolutely classic set-up. The story follows a tough-as-nails female police lieutenant who must free her nemesis, a legendary American pirate, from custody. Not only is he the only one who can take down a team of...

Director: Jordan Barker. Writers: Michael Foster and Thomas Pound. Cast: Peter DaCunha, Katharine Isabelle and Stephen McHattie. Torment is a film from production company Filmax International. This Spanish company shot and developed this slasher film in 2013. Shot in Canada, Torment is from a fairly new writing crew: Michael Foster and Thomas Pound. Also, this viewer knows director Jordan Barker from his work on the 2006 supernatural thriller The Marsh. And, both The Marsh and Torment are lackluster film events. Torment is overly dark through several scenes. As well, the killers in the film are underdeveloped and uninteresting to follow. Torment is one slasher film that does not stand-out in this crowded sub-genre. The story for Torment, such that it is, begins with the Morgan family. Liam (Peter DaCunha) and Sarah (Katharine Isabelle) are newlyweds and they decide to take their son and step-son out to the woods, for a nice retreat.

Jordan Barker (The Marsh) toured a few film festivals in 2013. In 2014, the film is getting set to release on DVD and Video-on-demand formats, through Phase 4 Films. The film was shot in Canada and this title hosts several Canadian actors: Katharine Isabelle (American Mary), Stephen McHattie (Pontypool) and Peter Dacunha. Fans of slasher films can preview an exclusive clip for Torment here! In the story, a newlywed couple heads out into the country for some downtime. They take Cory's (Robin Dunne) young son, Liam, along with them. But, this trio finds some unexpected company in cottage country. Soon, Liam is missing and a strange cult-like family is stalking both Cory and Sarah (Isabelle). Will anyone survive this night of terror? The latest clip for the film introduces one of the film's primary antagonists. This villain has already tied up a policeman. As well, this killer explodes a police car as...

The home invasion thriller Torment is making its way to VOD on June 10th from Phase 4 Films. This is the film, starring Kathrine Isabelle, that I discussed a bit about last November on Killer Pov right here. Directed by Jordan Barker (The Marsh, My Brother’s Keeper), and co-starring Robin Dunne and Stephen McHattie, the film concerns newlyweds Cory and Sarah Morgan take Cory’s 7-year old son Liam up to the country to their remote cabin for a quiet getaway and some much needed family time.

David Morlet (a.k.a. David Morley), who directed and co-wrote the undead-apocalypse film Mutants, scripted and helmed Home Sweet Home and was also one of the producers, along with Jordan Barker, who directed the 2007 ghost story The Marsh. “What’s really interesting is that this movie was actually born at the Berlin Film Festival at the Berlinale Market,” Barker tells Fango. “We decided that we wanted to make a feature together, and from script development to funding, production and post, this film came together in only about four or five months.”
Screen Media Films gave us the scoop that it has picked up U.S. rights to Home Sweet Home, with a release planned for the second quarter of 2013 (most likely June). A Picture Might Be Worth A Thousand Words. Too Bad One Of Them Wasn't "Gay"
While it's ludicrous to say anything "positive" came out of the horrible shooting in Tucson last week, those events have given the Glbt community one very remarkable development — a bona fide hero who happens to be an out gay man. That hero is twenty-year-old University of Arizona student Daniel Hernandez, Jr. who is being so lauded for his actions that he not only spoke at the memorial for the victims on Wednesday night, but sat to the right of President Obama.
I confess that because I've been attending the TCA in Los Angeles this week, I haven't been able to follow the coverage as much as I would've liked. So what I can't say with any certainty is whether or not the fact that Hernandez is gay has been widely reported. I do know, however,...

Sonja Morgan is joining fellow 'Real Housewife' Teresa Giudice on the bankruptcy train. Somebody call up Ramona Singer and get this woman some "Turtle time," stat.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Morgan, a recent addition to Bravo's 'The Real Housewives of New York City,' filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In her petition, Morgan listed $19.8 million in debt with $13.5 million in assets. The source for her financial woes? None other than John Travolta.
Prior to Sonja's divorce from John Adams Morgan, the two began the aptly titled Sonja Productions, an indie movie company. The company produced 'The Marsh,' starring Forest Whitaker. Sonja Productions struck a deal with Hannibal Pictures Inc. to produce 'Fast Flash to Bang Time,' a film that had Travolta attached to star.
