If you are a fan of pub quizzes, and have a good knowledge of the news events in the world, entertainment, TV, film, music, sport, technology and science, politics and much more in the year gone by, then this is a great show to watch and have fun with. Hosted by Jimmy Carr, with celebrity panellists in three teams: Jonathan Ross & Sharon Osbourne (The A-List), David Mitchell & Denise Van Outen (The Double Ds), and Rob Brydon & Gordon Ramsay (Can't Cook, No Need to 'Cos I'm Sat Next to Gordon Ramsay). This quiz focused on the year 2005, with all sorts of questions to answer about the past twelve months. These questions are asked as they are, with video and sound clips, with pictures (including Say What You See), and by celebrity and mystery guests on screen or in the studio, so it really does feel like a proper quiz that you can take part in. Events in the year 2005 that were questioned and joked about, and mentioned (or pictured) included: Dame Ellen MacArthur sailing around the world in three months, the death of George Best, Prince Harry dressed as a Nazi, Jamie Oliver campaigning for healthy food in schools, John McCririck on Celebrity Big Brother, Delia Smith drunk at a football match, the birth of David and Victoria Beckham's third child Cruz, Ray (Jamie Foxx), Sin City, the death of Pope John Paul II, a bitchy comment by Elizabeth Hurley launching her range of swimwear, Prince Charles calling Nicholas Witchell "awful", Paula Radcliffe pooing/weeing while running in the London Marathon, The Fat Duck owned by Heston Blumenthal being voted Best Restaurant in the World, a Welsh rugby fan cutting off his own testicles to celebrate a victory, "I Predict a Riot" by Kaiser Chiefs, "Crazy Chick" by Charlotte Church, Brad Pitt divorcing Jennifer Aniston and dating Angelina Jolie, Michael Jackson found "not guilty" in the child molestation accusations court case, hoodies banned from Bluewater Shopping Centre, Tom Cruise going bonkers on the sofa on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Derren Brown convincing a victim on Trick of the Mind he has been transported into a real zombie arcade game, the return of Doctor Who with Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant, "Axel F" by the Crazy Frog outselling "Speed of Sound" by Coldplay, 7 July (7/7) London bombings briefly mentioned, the ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz stolen, Jude Law having an affair with his nanny, the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, the Live 8 concerts, hit American drama Lost, Celebrity Love Island, Britney Spears giving birth, Aardman Animations Studios burning down during the release of Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Kate Moss taking cocaine and dropped from campaigns, George W. Bush writing to Condoleezza Rice for a "bathroom break" at the United Nations, Daniel Craig announced as the new James Bond 007, England winning at the Ashes (cricket), gay couples allowed to marry each other in church, a new wheelchair unbelievably named the "Spaz", Gary Glitter possibly facing death by firing squad, Kinga masturbating with a wine bottle on Big Brother 6 and David Dickinson shaving his pubic hair to avoid ticks on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! Other celebrity and special mystery guests in the show included the children of Mitchell Brook Primary School in Neasden who act out well known news stories, Jordan (Katie Price) and Peter Andre who got married, had a baby and released their charity song "A Whole New World", Derren Brown, Charlotte Church, Toni Collette and Cameron Diaz who starred in the film In Her Shoes, mystery guest Su (Susie) Doku whose name is the same as the big puzzle craze Sudoku, Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, Kevin Pietersen, Jon Snow who reads news related to lyrics from songs of the year, David Tennant who became Doctor Who, and mystery guest Walter Wolfgang who was thrown out of a labour party conference for heckling Jack Straw. The jokes and the questions are what make this show so much fun, they always choose the right celebrity panellists, and it works as a funny way to reminisce on the recent events you remember, a great comedy quiz show.
