Every actor knows, you always say yes.
When a director asks, “Can you ride a horse?” Yes. “Bungee jump?” Yes. “Speak Mandarin?” Yes. You figure it out later.
So when Flatliners director Niels Arden Oplev asked Steve Byers if he could drive standard, well, that was an easy one. At some point in his life the Toronto actor had been behind the wheel of a standard vehicle.
Byers (TV’s "Reign", "Slasher" and "Falcon Beach") had been cast as Sam, boyfriend to Marlo (Nina Dobrev), one of the medical students experimenting with near-death experiences in the spooky sequel to 1990’s Flatliners.
Oplev was thrilled. He’d found a vintage Porsche he wanted to use, and it was only available in standard.

A little Canadian flavor is coming to CSI: NY in the form on Jeananne Goosen playing a rookie police officer. According to TV Guide she’ll appear in only two episodes of the season, specifically episodes three and four. Her character is a young police officer, Lauren Cooper. She’ll be working closely with Danny (Carmine Giovinazzo). At first she’s a tad annoying, but soon the two become thick as thieves. That’s a quick turn around for only be around for a couple episodes. She must be really funny or something.
Goossen (what a Canadian name) is a new face to American audiences. She’s appeared in a number of Canadian productions, such as 11 Cameras, Falcon Beach, and Wild Roses. They aren’t the best examples of Canadian television, but don’t let that turn you off to Goossen. She’ll likely do a fantastic job on CSI: NY.

During the San Diego Comic-Con International, it was confirmed that Darkseid and the evil New Gods of Apokolips will be heavily featured during the tenth and final season of "Smallville." Steve Byers (pictured) will play Desaad and Michael Daingerfield will step into the role of Gordon Godfrey in the third episode of the season, according to Kryptonsite. The episode is entitled "Supergirl" and also features the previously announced return of Laura Vandervoort as Kara.

Ashley Greene has signed on to star in Lee De Marbre’s upcoming indie horror thriller “Summer,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The only thing known about the film’s plot at this stage is that Green’s character will encounter a family of serial killers while she’s looking for the father she’s never met.
Stephen McHattie, Barbara Niven and Peter Mooney recently boarded the project and will play the members of the murderous family.
Lee De Marbre is directing a script by Sean Hogan and Christine Conradt. “Summer” is the film’s current working title and may change at a later stage.
Green recently appeared in Mike Cahill’s “King of California.” She will next be seen as Alice Cullen in Catherine Hardwicke’s “Twilight.”
McHattie’s acting credits include “A History of Violence,” “300” and Zach Snyder’s upcoming “Watchmen.” Niven is known for TV’s “Pensacola” Wings of Gold,...

Awesome! A year or so ago I read a script by Sean Hogan and Christine Conradt entitled Summer, which I thought was really flippin' cool. I was shocked tonight to discover that the film is already halfway through its Ottawa shoot, with Lee De Marbre behind the camera. Ashley Greene (Twilight) is set to topline alongside Stephen McHattie (Watchmen, Pontypool), Barbara Niven and Peter Mooney, who will all play the deranged kinfolk that Greene's character encounters on her quest to find the father she's never known. The Innovative Artists/McKeon-Myones Entertainment-repped Greene next will be seen in December in the vampire thriller adaptation "Twilight" from Summit Entertainment. McHattie will be seen in another anticipated cult project, the Warner Bros. film "Watchmen." Mooney stars in the ABC Family series "Falcon Beach," and Niven has appeared in numerous telefilms.

Kim Todd, the president of Canada-based Original Pictures, has confirmed that the youth drama Falcon Beach has been cancelled after two seasons. The series airs on ABC Family in the U.S. and Global in Canada.
The cancellation comes as a result of ABC Family's decision to pass on a third season of Beach. Without the financial support of the cable channel, continued production isn't possible. Todd says that Global offered to pick it up for a third season but at a significantly lower cost than before.
Strangely enough, Beach is being cancelled despite being quite popular. The show's audience is made up of predominantly 12 to 17 year old girls. Unfortunately, the series failed to attract many outside of that age group and ABC Family wanted a broader demographic; i.e. 18 to 49 viewers.
The cancellation wasn't a shocker to Todd who said, "You're never surprised by what happens in series television,...
