Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has revealed that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was the only one who never bowed down in front of the underworld. Sanjay took to X (formerly Twitter), where he shared that he saw Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’. He also revealed how Shah Rukh Khan was the only star who never gave in to the underworld.
“I saw Jawan. I feel compelled to share this. Back in the 90’s when the underworld bullying of the film stars was at its peak @iamsrk was The Only star who never gave in.”
“‘Goli marni hai mar do, par tumhaare liye kaam nahin karoonga. Main Pathan hoon’. He said. He’s the same today,” Sanjay wrote.
Sanjay then called Shah Rukh Khan “man with a spine of steel”.
He added: “The entire finger monologue in Jawan is the single most gutsy thing in our films in the last ten years.

Based on a Japanese manga by Garon Tsuchiya Nobuaki Minegishi, Park Chan-wook's 2003 film "Oldboy" is a sensational, harrowing, violent, exhilarating opera of sin, retribution, and tragic twists worthy of Shakespeare. Tapping into a particularly Korean sense of social anxiety, it explores experiences of free-floating guilt and the sense that one might be punished at any moment for a slight you didn't know you committed. It's a panic attack of a film that swings for the walls -- literally, with a hammer -- and thwacks a few skulls in the process. Aggressive, enormous, bloody, and blunt, "Oldboy" may be one of the best films of its decade.
In 2003, Park's film -- the second part of what the filmmaker called a Vengeance Trilogy -- received a lot of attention. It won the Grand Prix at Cannes and dozens of other film awards besides. Quentin Tarantino talked it up immensely, and critics gushed.

Pookutty shared the award with Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke. The then 37-year-old Pookutty was an unknown name in the country, but it was not to remain so after the Oscar.
But the highlight was when the then Left government led by V.S. Achuthanandan decided to give him a hero’s welcome and the person who was asked to head the welcoming committee was the then Culture Minister M.A. Baby, at present a Cpi-m politburo member.
And on that day in 2009, his tiny village in Kollam district – Anchal – woke up to welcome their dearest son.
Soon Pookutty became the most popular personality in Kerala and stories of his childhood and how he studied under a kerosene lamp and his daily walk to the school about 10 kms all became news.
Also written was how a bus checker’s son, the youngest of eight children, the hardworking Pookutty was able to rise to the highest level.

Ali has penned and set it to tune with Julius Packiam, who has also worked on the background score of the period-drama.
When Ali was asked about how Salman reacted to this development, Ali laughed and said, “Bhai doesn’t know yet, we don’t share these small details, he knows I keep doing something or the other. But this time I think he will be surprised. Of course, he’ll pull my leg, saying, ‘So now, you’ve starting writing songs too, now you will ask for an extra cheque.’ That’s the kind of bond we share.”

2013 has been a stellar year for soundtracks, with constant innovation and the odd chartbuster that eventually tops your most played list on your iPod. There was a lot of fabulous collaborations like Vishal Bharadwaj and South-African band Umoja for Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola or the full on Southie beats for Chennai Express. There was a lot of regional flavour and experimentation with music directors like A.R. Rahman and Amit Trivedi looking to the sounds of Banaras and Gujarat for their fantastic albums. Whoever says there’s a dearth of good soundtracks, then look no further than our list of top albums of the year!
10. Kai Po Che
Amit Trivedi appears twice on our list, because he proved that quality trumps quality with his three-song album that perfectly conjured up that Gujurati flavour with his consistently inventive stamp. Who could have thought that bagpipes would go seamlessly well with shehnaii...

The year in song in 2013 certainly was a treat for Hindi music fans. With songs ranging to straight-up classical influences, to songs with a Southern tinge plus the new grooves that hit high notes of hard rock, dub step, hip-hop, and punk-rock there was something for everyone. 2013 had some wonderful musical moments and they were not all on the big screen. This year we thought we would change it up a bit and not only highlight the best songs of the movies, we also wanted to shine the light on some of the brilliant performances that took place on MTV’s Coke Studio and MTV Unplugged. So take a dekho at our list of the 50 best songs of 2013.

Mumbai, Nov 18: Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta is turning author. He is busy penning a compilation of short stories that he hasn't been able to tell through his movies.
In 2008, Gupta, under his banner White Feather Films, had made "Dus Kahaniyaan", a feature length film made up of 10 short films. His love for the short story format continues as he has started writing a series of short stories to be published as a book.
"I've finished writing the first three and to be honest am quite enjoying the process," Gupta, who has helmed films like "Kaante", "Zinda" and "Shootout at Wadala", said in a statement.
"My cinema is essentially.

The first trailer for Sanjay Gupta's highly anticipated cops vs. gangsters flick, Shootout at Wadala has appeared online and it looks pretty fucking stylish. Twitch readers might know Gupta from a few of his older films like Kaante or Zinda, but this looks like a significant step up from those films, even though I enjoyed them well enough. This film is a thematic prequel to a film he produced back in 2007 called Shootout at Lokhandwala, which recreated a famous gun battle between gangsters and Mumbai cops. Wadala takes the feud back to the seventies, when India was even more inundated with wicked mustaches than it is today. While the trailer is stylish enough on its own, it is really the cast of this beast that...

After a year of planning, writing and battling casting hassles, Shootout At Wadala was finally launched yesterday with a launch event that was attended by the entire cast. While Ekta Kapoor is gung ho about the prospects of this gangsters v/s cops film, co-producer and director Sanjay Gupta is also heaving a sigh of relief that he is getting behind the camera more than half a decade after Zinda. No wonder, he can be heard singing praises about his lead protagonist Anil Kapoor and antagonist John Abraham who stayed by him even though others came and went. "It was more than a year ago when Sanjay had approached Anil Kapoor and John Abraham to play a top cop and gangster respectively. Even though they hadn't formally signed on the dotted line, there was a gentleman's agreement about doing the film", says a source close to Sanjay Gupta, "In fact when Sanjay approached Anil,...

Sanjay Dutt the comedy king of Bollywood, apparently shocked Ram Gopal Varma and his crew as he actually cried for one of the scenes in his thriller movie Department.
Sanjay has earlier played roles in which he had to act sentimental or tough which includes Munna Bhai Mmbs, Vastav, Shootout At Lokhandwala, Zinda, etc. But now a days he is mostly seen in comedy roles which he caries of well. In this movie Department, he had to show tears in eyes. However he got so much into the character that in spite of the scene getting over he continued to cry. Sanjay Gupta is back to direction after a gap of almost 5 years (he last directed Sanjay Dutt-John Abraham starrer Zinda). He is now back with a bang with Shootout At Wadala, sequel to his own production- Shootout At Lokhandwala. The film is produced by Gupta's White Feather Films in association Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures. Like most of his films, Shootout At Wadala too is a multi-starrer and the filmmaker has already managed a coup of sorts by signing Anil Kapoor and John Abraham as the main leads. John Abraham will be playing the role of dreaded gangster Manya Surve while Anil Kapoor will be essaying the role of Acp Isaque Bagwan, Mumbai's first encounter specialist. Besides Anil and John, there is also speculation that Vidya Balan has been approached for an important role and the actress is likely to give her nod. Shootout At Wadala goes on floors early next year.
