Good Worldwide has acquired the rights to adapt into a film "The Outsider," Richard Wright's novel looking at racism in America.
Previously operating under the Reason Pictures banner, Good's Zach Miller and Ben Goldhirsh will produce the project.
Published at the height of McCarthyism and the dawn of the Cold War, Wright tells the story of Cross Damon and his quest to escape his past, exploring themes of prejudice and alienation through modern philosophies.
Apa negotiated the deal for the estate of Wright, who died in 1960.
Previous Good projects include the 2007 Sundance top-seller "Son of Rambow" and Michael Apted's soccer documentary "The Power of the Game."
The production company is developing the film adaptation of Jose Padilha's "Marching Powder," with Don Cheadle starring. The actor also is producing with Goldhirsh, David Guy Levy and Brad Pitt.
