Sex & Nudity

  • There are several appearances of prostitutes dressed in somewhat scanty dresses.
  • One cutscene shows a woman in a bathtub without any clothes on. However, no actual nudity is present during this scene, but your character throws her a coin and says thanks for the service, implying that she just had sex with him.
  • Several sexual references in the dialogue, some might be very strong.

Violence & Gore

  • A man puts a gun in another man's mouth and fires the gun.
  • A man falls a story down a building after being shot in the chest.
  • A man is attacked by a Mountain Lion in a cutscene.
  • Debris from a collapsing mine falls on a man, who screams.
  • A man's finger is cut off and his hand is bloody in a cutscene on the train.
  • A man places dynamite around his body and it explodes.
  • A man falls off a ship deck into the water. Later, debris from the deck falls on the man, who screams.
  • If Gun were a movie, it would be rated R for bloody violence, language, and some sexual references.
  • A man falls off a cliff after being shot by a cannon. Later, he is dragged into the train.
  • A man hits another man in the face with his foot after he is knocked out.
  • Constant shooting violence with blood splashing onto the ground and nearby walls in large amounts.
  • There are also decapitations resulting from certain gunshots, including heads exploding with brain matter and blood flying around. (A couple of decapitations are seen during a cutscene.)
  • Arms and legs can be shot off and seen laying on the ground.
  • Swiping with knives and axes with bloody results.
  • If the player has access to a certain weapon s/he can scalp dead foes by pressing certain buttons.
  • Horses are often shot and killed or even riding them too hard can result in the horse's death.
  • Cannonballs can be used in selected areas to strike foe; often with very violent results.
  • There are a couple of hangings; one of them is a sub-plot.
  • Explosions have some bloody effects.
  • Arrows can be used to shoot foes; sometimes in the head which's a bit disturbing.
  • Heavy guns can turn some foes to a bloody pulp.
  • Throats can be slit; with bloody results, in one scene a main character's throat is slit and blood sprays (Emotional as well as disturbing)
  • -People can be runned over by horses.
  • Animals can be shot and killed, sometimes as a sub-mission.
  • A man's ear is cut off camera, as well as a man's tooth pulled out also off camera.
  • Not only is the violence in the game, but also in many many cutscenes.

Profanity

  • Uses of "shit", "bitch", "ass", "damn", and "bastard"
  • No F-words

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One mission requires the player to go through an opium den to find a man, however, no opium is present.
  • Several men can be seen drinking whiskey in one cutscene
  • A man can be seen smoking a cigar in several cutscenes.
  • The health system is based off of taking gulps of whiskey. (No heavy drinking, though.)
  • There is also reference to Opium.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A building being set on fire can frighten some.
  • Like GTA; regular civilians can be massacred.
  • A scene showing several skinned corpses hanging from a piece of wood.
  • Many scenes of emotional brutality.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Some Native Americans can be offended by selected potrayals of Indians; sometimes portrayed as brutal barbarians and the player has an objective to kill them. However later in the game the Indians become the allies as the player finds out that the main character has Native American roots and is of Native American origin.
