Surprisingly enjoyable, kids love it

Warning: Spoilers
My son is a fan of Hermie and Friends and when I saw they had a Chirstmas video, I added it to our collection (he's almost 4). I'm not sure why the bad ratings, I found it to be enjoyable (even when watched the 39th time in the month before Christmas). Iggy and Ziggy cockroaches are hilarious and memorable. The script is well written and comes together better than some of the other Hermie flicks. It also doesn't have "dull" spots where the plot stalls or scenes that take too long. The opening scene with Hermie violently tumbling down the snowy hill is a little graphic (my son gets wound up watching that) but perhaps that's meant to draw the older age range in. It makes allusions to other Christmas specials throughout the video, which many kids may not get but makes it more entertaining for adults to sit through. This film is a great way to get the true meaning of Christmas (the Jesus meaning) through to your kids without being preachy. It's fun, the songs are catchy for little kids and has the characters they've enjoyed in other Hermie releases.

Heartwarming Christmas story for all ages...
sherry5424 December 2005
This is a new heartwarming Christmas story that will appeal to children of all ages. Your child will love this movie, I know the kid in me did.

Hermie and his bug friends are looking forward to Grannypillar's fruitcake and having Christmas. Not so, the fruitcake is gone. The meanest, greediest bugs in the garden have taken the fruitcake for themselves, the cockroaches... and they won't share.

The true meaning of Christmas comes through and our friends learn from God what Christmas is and how to show others. A simple act of sharing yields the greatest gift of all... the meaning of Christmas and new friendships.

Charming and a new family favorite. Love hearing the voices of Tim Conway and Don Knotts. The puns in the movie are priceless. Thank you for a wonderful new version of the Christmas story told so a child could understand and appreciate Christ's sacrifice.
