- Three kid detectives go on an epic journey to eerie Skeleton Island. Once home to pirates, it's now plagued by a mysterious beast.
- In "The Three Investigators and The Secret of Skeleton Island" the cult detective trio from Rocky Beach, California, fall into a breath-taking mixture of adventure, thriller and mystery. Only by a hairs-breadth did they escape with their lives after the successful completion of their last case.
Their adversary Victor Hugenay admittedly escaped, but right now Peter Crenshaw and Bob Andrews find themselves on vacation. And even their leader Jupiter Jones doesn't have to be asked twice, as Pete's father invites the youngsters to come to South Africa. Or to be more exact: to Skeleton Island, where he is helping the stinking rich Miss Wilbur in the construction of a new theme park.
After they arrive, there suddenly is no time for sun-bathing, snorkeling, or other fun activities: a mysterious beast, the so-called 'Tokolosh', wreaks havoc and provokes fear and terror among the workers. One thing's for sure - this is a case for the Three Investigators. Yet the bold amateur detectives do not suspect that they will uncover a secret that originates from the 17th century, and that this case has more to do with their own lives then they would like to admit...

Summary by KrystelClaire:
Jupiter Jones (Chancellor Miller), Pete Crenshaw (Nick Price) and Bob Andrews (Cameron Monaghan ) travel to South Africa to have a holiday after surviving a lift falling onto their heads and solving the mystery of a forged painting. They tore to pieces a painting in front of the auctioneer (Paul Ditchfield) to produce a hidden masterpiece, although their enemy Victor Hugenay has managed to escape.
Al Crenshaw (Nigel Whitmey) invites the three of them on a holiday with him, while he's working in a new theme park in a private island called Skeleton Island, which belongs to filthy rich Miss Wilbur (Fiona Ramsay). She is rude and uses her head of security to put out Gamba (Akin Omotoso) and his daughter Chris (Naima Sebe), who want to be able to pay respect to their ancestors in the island. It's Bill (James Faulkner), their scruffy driver, the first who mentions that the theme park is under the threat of a legendary beast called Tokolosh, who is attacking the workers at the site and delaying the building; that's why Skeleton Island is not a good place to have children around, he tells Al Crenshaw.
Miss Wilbur is annoying, and keeps close to her head of security Tom Farraday (Langley Kirkwood). Miss Wilbur is rude, keeps an annoying dog with her at all times and doesn't want the children around as well. She tells them to stay out of a cave she's checking to see its availability to use it in her future theme park. However, she is one of the person attacked by the Tokolosh. She uses Tom to arrest Gamba, accusing him on having attacked her. Chris doesn't think that the Three Investigators can't do anything for her, but that night, she climbs the wall to the boys' room to give them all her savings if they prove that her father is innocent. The Investigators have trapped her with a booby trap, thinking she was Tom or a criminal, but they finally take on their case.
The following morning, Chris takes them to the shanty town where she lives with her father. A boy (Mpho Mathabathe) tells her that his father has been seen; but when they reach the home, he's not there. A driver-less truck is pushed towards the home, and the four friends have to leave in a hurry. Chris has shown the Three Investigators part of an artwork in which a young native princess is shown. There is a story about her wanting to marry a man who was disproved, so the couple ran away together, and she stole a crown with a huge diamond on the central tiara. The Investigators realise that somebody is trying to boycott them.
They want to enter Miss Wilbur's manor house. Chris distracts her and Tom by saying that she's been bitten by a snake in her leg. The Three Investigators find the other half of the painting, - hidden behind another painting - but the poem with directions to the diamond crown is not complete. They finally lock themselves in a room while Tom and Miss Wilbur are trying to get in.
However, The Three Investigators enter the cave again. There, together with Chris, they realise that the Tokolosh is not a ghost, but a babboon disguised as a monster. Once again, Gamba is blamed for everything, as he was hiding there. Chris asks the Three Investigators not to betray her father, but Jupiter tells her that he has promised his late parents to defend always the truth. Once again, Chris gets deeply upset when her father is arrested by a police officer (Thando Gqoloza), and this time, she also blames her new-found friends. Pete's father tells the Investigators off, and gives them a plane ticket back to the USA.
But the Three Investigators return to the cave. They discover the key to the hidden shrine. In the tomb, they have to push the work WILL upwards and the word RATIO downwards, and the dates of birth and death to the right and the left respectively. That opens the empty tomb, which produces an engraved slate, but also triggers a booby trap in which they will die in 30 seconds if they don't act. Imprisoned and with the roof falling down, they have to jump onto the tomb. There, they think they are about to die once again, but they put the engraved slate in its right slot and that opens the floor under their feet. They fall onto the shrine room, where they find the bodies of the princess and her lover, sat in their thrones. She's wearing the crown with the diamond. Jupiter picks it. They leave the place in one peace.
Outside, Bill is waiting for them, threatening Chris with a gun. He wants the crown with the diamond. Jupiter realised that Bill was an unreal name, it's really Victor Hugenay. He leaves with Chris for safe-keeping in a hang-glider. The Three Investigators follow-suit in another hang-glider, flying it more or less.
From the desert wilderness suddenly they are on the city. Bill/Victor kicks their hang glider, so the boys have problems controlling it. Their plane ticket fall onto the café table where Al Crenshaw is having some coffee. He asks for the bill right away.
Chris reacts and tries to disturb Victor's flying abilities. They fall in the shanty town, in a kind of squar crashing onto a miserable vegetable shop. The Three Investigators also fall down there. The hang-gliders damage the drying-out sheets of a lady (Stella Magaba), who leaves crying out for help.
Bill / Victor stands up and cleans the dust from his expensive suit, but the Three Investigators tell all the children in the shanty town to attack Victor, who falls to the floor and can't be seen among all the kicking children. The police arrive, together with Al Cranshaw.
Chris' father is freed because the real criminal has been imprisoned. Miss Wilbur admits happily that she and Chris are cousins in some degree, because they are descendants from those lovers.
The Three Investigators go back to the USA. There are still two weeks to the end of the holidays. Pete and Bob want to go to the beach, but Jupiter wants to investigate something else.
