The Batman: Arkham series is considered by many to be one of the greatest video game franchises in the history of gaming. This series is the closest we will ever get to experiencing being the Dark Knight himself (unless you have a multibillion-dollar bat suit in your secret cave).
The entire series is an absolute masterpiece, but there is one element in the games that, although being one of the most important aspects of Batman, it got a bad rep in the first game. Of course, we are talking about Batman’s ability to glide. Let’s delve deeper into this and find out more.
Gliding was just a traversal tool in Batman: Arkham Asylum
Batman: Arkham Asylum was the first installment in the Arkham franchise. The game made by Rocksteady Studios was released back in August of 2009, and it instantly became a major hit, selling nearly two million units in its first three weeks.

Adrien Brody is a brilliant actor who is dedicated to his craft and is known to take risks with his career and the roles he chooses to play. He built a career on roles that demanded depth and dedication; he went through a near-starvation diet, nearly losing 30 pounds to fit into his role as a Holocaust survivor, and experienced Ptsd for the part. Time and time again, he has proved his commitment to his love of cinema.
You’d think that Hollywood would line up golden opportunities for someone like Brody — and sometimes, they did. But as any actor will tell you, in this business, fate and timing can be everything. There were moments when the right role came along and slipped right through his fingers.

Hey, do you recall when being a geek was like having a secret identity, but without all the superhero coolness? Man, those were awful times. If you even mentioned that you liked anime, comic books, or anything kinda nerdy, it was like having a big ‘Bully Me’ sign on your forehead. However, Aizen’s voice actor from Bleach, Kyle Hebert, feels things have changed a little lately.
Fast forward to today, and guess what? That same guy who was getting thrown into lockers for being Dragon Ball Z-crazy is flexing his Naruto tattoo on social media, and raking in followers. Somewhere along the line, being a geek went from a shameful secret to an absolute superpower. And honestly? It’s about time.
Marvel, DC, and Anime: The cross-pollination of modern geek culture
In the old days, if you were seriously into something such as Gundam, Marvel Comics, or (God forbid) Yu-Gi-Oh!

Director Kalyan Shankar’s follow-up to his 2023 comedy “Mad” is neither fun nor funny. Titled “Mad Square,” with square as in the algebraic expression, the Telugu film is supposed to multiply with itself. It is understandably an effort at exaggerating the entertainment quotient of the sequel. With a string of bland, repetitive gags coming one after another, “Mad Square” is one flat joke. There is very less to feel entertained by, but a whole lot to be ‘mad’ about. To quote Math, instead of raising to the power of two, the film should have subtracted itself from itself.
The sequel places itself some four years after the events of the first film. With a nod towards the engineering college setup of the first film, “Mad Square” shows a band of engineering students being taken to a high-security prison. It is baffling why those students, possibly taken in for unruliness or some petty misdemeanor,...

Netflix‘s April film acquisitions include masterpieces from some of the most revered Hollywood directors of the past 50 years, including Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese and Michael Mann. Whether you are in the mood for Nolan’s best superhero film or Mann’s greatest crime thriller, Netflix has whatever its subscribers may be looking for in April. That is to say nothing, either, of the pair of timeless sports dramas that the streaming service also added to its platform this month.
Here are TheWrap’s picks for the seven best movies that have started streaming on Netflix in April.
“The Dark Knight” (Warner Bros. Pictures) “The Dark Knight” (2008)
Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” is still considered by many to be the peak of the superhero genre, and for good reason. Nolan’s 2008 sequel to 2005’s “Batman Begins” is a propulsive, gripping crime thriller that doubles as a battle of wills...

Which Two Hollywood Movies Earned Both Box Office Billions & Oscars Gold?(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Hollywood has always known how to pair art with commerce, but rarely do the two walk hand in hand. Critical acclaim for most Oscar-winning films is wrapped in prestige, not box office milestones. Meanwhile, the world’s biggest blockbusters often lean into spectacle, driven more by fanfare than Academy favor. That’s why the intersection of a critical commercial blockbuster remains incredibly rare.
Winning an Oscar for Best Picture is Hollywood’s highest honor. Grossing over a billion dollars globally is one of its most remarkable financial feats. But doing both? That’s practically mythic territory. While many billion-dollar blockbusters, such as Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, The Dark Knight, and others, have earned nods at the Academy Awards, most have come up short where it counts the most. As of 2025, only two films have ever accomplished both.

It’s easy to assume accountants love The Accountant. As The Accountant 2 arrives in cinemas, we asked a pair of them about it.
According to a 2024 report from the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies, there are approximately 357,200 accountants currently living in the UK. Statistically, you’ve probably met one. If all of them went to see The Accountant 2 this weekend, they’d fill just under half the country’s 4,587 cinema screens. Warner Bros. – distributing the film internationally – would probably be pretty pleased with itself.
We couldn’t get to all of them in time, but we did manage to track down a representative sample of accountants (two) to ask what they thought of Ben Affleck’s ongoing mission to rehabilitate their profession – and get a few financial management questions off our chests, too.
We’ve renamed them Ben and John, for no reason other than they’re real professional people with proper jobs,...

Oscar Winner Morgan Freeman Early Career Days(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Every actor has a different story. Some become popular overnight, but some have endured years of struggle to make a mark in the film industry. In the Indian context, for instance, Hrithik Roshan became an instant Bollywood heartthrob after the release of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. On the other hand, Nawazuddin Siddiqui struggled for so many years to gain the popularity that he has today. We can call it fate, destiny, or whatever we want, but it’s true.
The Hollywood Actor Who Became a Star At Age 50
Even in Hollywood, a veteran, Oscar-winning actor got his big break as an actor only when he turned fifty years old. We are talking about none other than Morgan Freeman. Whenever we come across his name, we imagine films like ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, ‘Seven’, and ‘Unforgiven’. But these films came much later in his career.

A Ready or Not sequel was confirmed earlier this year, and now we're starting to get more details about the upcoming film from Radio Silence, which will see the return of star Samara Weaving.
Weaving was the "final girl" from the 2019 movie. Her character, Grace, married into the Le Domas family, unaware of the twisted game they play on every family member's wedding day. Grace picks "Hide-and-Seek," leading her to run from the family as they try to murder her to fulfill their part of a generational curse.
Earlier this week, Searchlight Pictures shared an endearing promotional video announcing new cast members and more.

Sinners has been building hype ever since Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan had studios discreetly read their script in a supervised session. Then, studios began a bidding war for a film that no one knew details about, except that it was a “genre movie.” That genre turned out to be a period vampire film and audiences turned out for Sinners this past week with a huge positive response and rave reviews. In his review, our own Chris Bumbray says, “It’s good enough that I can’t help but hope Coogler eventually parts ways with the MCU (after his next Black Panther flick), as he seems better off playing in his own sandbox. Given the right resources and support, Sinners might be the beginning of a whole new chapter for one of our most exciting, emerging filmmakers.”

It's hard to believe that the start of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knighttrilogy, Batman Begins, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The Batman origin story returned the DC hero back to his dark and gothic roots while giving the franchise a romanticism that wasn't seen in previous installments. The film also started Nolan’s “realistic” reinventions of some of The Caped Crusader’s most popular villains. This included Scarecrow, played by Cillian Murphy. Now the fear-based villain is getting new figures from Hot Toys and McFarlane Toys.
The first figure from Sideshow Collectibles and Hot Toys is the ⅙ scale Scarecrow 2.0. This features Murphy's Dr. Jonathan Crane in his signature scary mask and standard gray suit he's seen wearing at his job at Arkham Asylum. The piece has a new Murphy head sculpt and two different burlap sack masked heads. The figure also comes with a scream-worthy number of accessories,...

You know those movies that slip under the radar but slap harder than a triple espresso on a Monday morning? Yeah, Tom Hardy seems to know one such action movie full of parkour, punches, and political chaos. During an interview, Hardy spoke of the French action thriller, District B13, which moves faster than a Japanese bullet train.
You might have never even heard of it, but Tom Hardy, being a man deeply immersed in his craft, gave the French film the shoutout it deserves. Although District B13 barely made $11M at the worldwide box office, Hardy believes this 2004 gem didn’t just jump over rooftops—it flew over expectations.

The “Ready or Not” sequel starts production Monday, April 21 — that’s today — and Searchlight Pictures shares new details about the follow-up to the 2019 box office hit.
The sequel, titled “Ready or Not: Here I Come,” will film in Toronto this spring, with Radio Silence directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett returning for a second helping of the social survival horror comedy starring Samara Weaving.
Weaving reprises her role as Grace, who in the original film found herself being hunted by her new in-laws at her family’s posh estate. If you look at a lot of the best films in the superhero genre, a common denominator is Batman. The Caped Crusader's 80+ year legacy makes him one of the comic book heroes most open for interpretation. Different filmmakers have produced widely different, yet equally excellent, Batman movies. 1966's "Batman: The Movie" is a camp classic. "Batman Returns" is a gothic German Expressionist melodrama only Tim Burton could have made. Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" and Matt Reeves' "The Batman" are both fantastic crime dramas with big ideas most superhero movies don't even reach for.
But it'd be a big mistake to leave animation out of this conversation. "Batman: The Animated Series" is generally considered the finest Batman adaptation ever, proof positive the Dark Knight can excel on film no matter the medium. There are also many more animated Batman movies than live-action ones at this point. Many of them...

Steven Spielberg is a man who needs no introduction. With his career spanning six decades, his films' impact on the industry and in modern popular culture cannot be overstated. From the biggest blockbusters such as "Jaws" and "Jurassic Park" to the smaller character-driven films such as "The Color Purple" and most recently, "The Fabelmans," fewer filmmakers have accomplished his level of influence in so many genres of cinema. With 23 Oscar nominations and 3 wins, and a filmography that has grossed $10.7 billion at the global box office making him the highest-grossing film director of all-time, there is almost nothing he cannot accomplish.
In his decorated career, Steven Spielberg has also had his share of unrealized projects. One of those projects includes an adaptation of the sci-fi novel "Robopocalypse," which was to be written by "Cabin in the Woods" co-writer/director Drew Goddard and had Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway attached to star.

Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" Trilogy benefits from some seriously stellar casting, and among the clearest bullseyes it hit was the decision to cast Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth. The British veteran has the exact right screen presence to match -- and, when necessary, one-up -- the specific energy Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne has, and more than enough gravitas to tell off the billionaire vigilante in a way that's utterly believable.
As a winner of two Academy Awards, Caine has been around the block as an actor and seen some seriously great performances. Still, even he had to do a double take when the trilogy's true Mvp entered the game. "The Dark Knight" remains Heath Ledger's best movie, thanks to his magnificent portrayal of the Joker. Caine's Alfred famously delivers the iconic description of the Joker and others like him in "The Dark Knight" (2008), and in his memoir "Don't Look Back,...

Everyone knows Batman's origin story. Let's see if we can condense it into a few simple sentence fragments, the way that Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's "All-Star Superman" did for its lead hero.
Rich couple. Mugging gone wrong. Orphaned son. A Dark Knight.
People often complain that Batman movies put too much focus on the death of his parents. But while Thomas and Martha Wayne are (almost) always doomed as Bruce's origin story, different films offer different interpretations of it.
Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins" wasn't the first film to show the Wayne murders, but it was the first to show how Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) moved on from that tragedy to become Batman. The film bases its first act on Dennis O'Neil and Dick Giordano's 1989 comic, "The Man Who Falls," showing Bruce traveling the world and learning...

Top Christopher Nolan movies at Box Office (Photo Credit – Instagram)
With Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan not only tackled complex themes but also achieved massive box-office success, proving that you can make an emotionally charged, intellectual film and still rake in the big bucks. The film broke records and left audiences in awe, but interestingly, it’s not even Nolan’s highest-grossing movie to date!
That’s right, despite its impressive earnings, Oppenheimer takes a backseat to a few other Nolan flicks. The filmmaker has been on a roll for decades, pushing the limits of what a summer blockbuster can be while packing in deep philosophical musings. From time manipulation to psychological twists, Nolan’s movies have become synonymous with big ideas and even bigger paydays. So, let’s dive into his top five highest-grossing films and see how the man has cracked the code for success.

Which animated movie made more than some of DC and Marvel’s films?(Photo Credit –Netflix/Hotstar)
The world of superhero cinema has long been dominated by two juggernauts – Marvel and DC. For decades, these two comic book powerhouses have shaped the genre, offering interconnected cinematic universes, massive ensemble casts, and sky-high budgets that translate into global box office dominance. From The Avengers to The Dark Knight, Marvel and DC have not just set the standards for superhero films. Instead, they are the standards.
In this landscape, any film that dares to break through without the backing of these two giants faces an uphill battle. Independent superhero films or those produced outside the traditional Marvel-dc umbrella often struggle to match the hype, scale, and audience trust that comes with an already beloved brand. Few even attempt it. Fewer succeed. And only one, as of today, has managed to do the unthinkable,...

Jacob Benjamin Gyllenhaal—bet you didn’t know that—is one of the most celebrated actors in Hollywood. Most popular actors we see on screen today are tied down to particular types of roles that they play repeatedly. Say, Tom Cruise with his crazy adventures of flying a plane or jumping off a cliff, Keanu Reeves with heroic high-action roles, and Dwayne Johnson with charismatic, larger-than-life characters.
But this is not the case with Gyllenhaal; the actor and his versatility go hand in hand. Take, for example, the role of a former professional fighter, a war hero, a psychopath, and even a romantic—this man has done it all. He also has an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Brokeback Mountain. It’s safe to say that he is someone who thrives on taking big risks and pushing creative boundaries.

Ben Affleck made his debut as the Dark Knight in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, before going on to reprise the role in Justice League (the theatrical version and Snyder's director's cut) and The Flash.
The actor has spoken about the ups and downs of his tenure as the Caped Crusader in the past, but has said that he did enjoy his time in the "SnyderVerse" overall. There was one thing he "hated" about playing the iconic DC Comics character, however.
“I hated the Batsuits. The Batsuits are horrendous to wear,” Affleck told GQ in a recent interview. “They’re hot for one thing. They don’t breathe. They’re made to look the way they want them to look. There’s no thought put into the human being. So what happens is that you just start sweating. I’m already — I sweat, you know what I mean?...

Apple TV+ has quietly rolled out another banger, and this time, it’s all about fake badges, stolen stashes, and two guys who seriously underestimated how wild things can get when you mess with the wrong people. Dope Thief hit the platform in March 2025, and in just a few weeks, it’s gone from “what’s this?” to “you have to watch this” in group chats everywhere.
Starring Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura as Ray and Manny, the series kicks off with a reckless scheme, pretending to be DEA agents and robbing supposed low-level drug dealers. What could go wrong, right? A lot. Like, a lot. The vibe is gritty, the stakes are high, and the tension just keeps climbing with every episode.
Critics are on board too, with the show pulling in a strong Rotten Tomatoes score. And now, as more people binge through the mess Ray and Manny have landed themselves in,...

Even though Ben Affleck liked playing Batman, he certainly doesn't seem to miss wearing the iconic batsuit, as he described it as "horrendous." Ben Affleck played Bruce Wayne / Batman in the Dceu films Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Justice League, and The Flash. Despite the initial fan reaction to Affleck's casting being overwhelmingly negative, the same audience that initially rejected him eventually came to embrace his depiction of the Caped Crusader and still wants him to return to the role. Yet Affleck certainly doesn't sound nostalgic about putting on the cape and cowl again.
Speaking with GQ about his expansive career, when the subject of 2023's The Flash came up, Affleck was asked if that film had his favorite Batsuit. Affleck revealed that he hated wearing not just that Batman costume but all of them, describing them as "horrendous to wear" and "the least fun part" of playing the iconic superhero.

For years, comic books have been adapted into films or television, some of them more successful than others. However, there are a few titles that are universally praised as impeccable films.
Academy Award-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan helmed one of the most influential superhero trilogies, The Dark Knight Trilogy. The films started in 2005 with Batman Begins, continued with 2008's The Dark Knight, and 2012's The Dark Knight Rises. Although all three of them received praise for different reasons,The Dark Knight is largely the most haunting of them all, and is often referred to as the best superhero movie of all time. Its influence is undeniable, as The Dark Knight has just become a hit again on Netflix, 17 years after its release, via Tudum.
Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy was released on Apr. 1 in the U.S. in its entirety. However, only one film drew the attention of several subscribers: The Dark Knight.

After pulling the box office out of its slump with “A Minecraft Movie,” Warner Bros. is now taking a roll of the dice with the ambitious, original horror film “Sinners,” whose box office fortunes hinge in good part on how much the cultural legacy of “Black Panther” has permanently rubbed off on its writer-director, Ryan Coogler.
“Sinners” is Coogler’s first original film since his feature debut “Fruitvale Station,” after which he went on to launch the “Rocky” spinoff series “Creed” and then lead Marvel Studios to its first Best Picture nomination with “Black Panther” in 2018. His 2022 sequel, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” earned a less enthusiastic reception from critics and audiences but was still widely praised for how it paid tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman.

Before his ground-breaking masterpieces like Memento, The Dark Knight, and his Oscar-winning epic, Oppenheimer, a 19‑year‑old Christopher Nolan spent his weekends in the late‑1980s shooting an eerie, 8 mm horror short called Tarantella that would not have been out of place in the library of David Lynch’s most unsettling movies. For more than three decades, the five‑minute film was considered lost until it was uploaded to YouTube in 2021 – and very quickly taken down for copyright reasons. Now the film has crept back onto the video sharing site via The Great Cinema’s channel, and fans should really check it out while they can.
For those who were freaked out by the micro-budgeted viral sensation Skinamarink, and don’t like their on-screen nightmares to make a lot of sense in favor of being more experimental, Nolan’s early exploration of how it was possible to do a lot...

Watching a Christopher Nolan movie isn’t just a night at the movies, it’s a full-blown mental obstacle course. One minute you’re vibing with epic visuals, and the next you’re questioning the flow of time, the laws of physics, and maybe even your own reality. Did that just happen? Are we dreaming? Do we need to watch it again with subtitles and a notebook?
Nolan’s signature style is cerebral, cool, and confusing in the best (and sometimes most frustrating) ways. Some of his films ease you in with sleek storytelling, while others feel like you need a physics degree and three flowcharts just to keep up. And because we’re all still trying to figure out what the heck a “temporal pincer movement” really is, it’s only fair we rank every Nolan movie by how much they’ve made our brains hurt.

Christopher Nolan is known for crafting cinematic epics, often within the world of science fiction. From Inception to Interstellar, Nolan dabbles in genre to create his deeply affecting stories that have. But did you know that Nolan once made a horror short film titled Tarantella? In fact, according to IMDb, it’s the first film Nolan ever made. The film has been lost for 32 years, but just a few days ago, The Great Cinema uploaded the film to their YouTube channel, finally giving Nolan fans a glimpse into the auteur’s young brain.
At just under five minutes long, the 1989 short film follows a young man experiencing nightmares about big spiders and demons. DC doesn't know the meaning of the word restraint. From Jonah Hex to Batman and even the fluffy Super-Pets, it appears like every DC character has received their own feature film at some point in time. Yet, like every other comic book movie fan around the world, we're greedy -- we want and demand more from the powers that be. Give us "Zatanna." Put a brand-new "Swamp Thing" film into production. Heck, greenlight "Black Adam 2" while you're at it -- actually, maybe scratch that last one, because we don't need the hierarchy of power to flatulate again.
While we're always in the mood for new projects, there's a special allure about the what-ifs -- you know, the cancelled DC movies of the past. Look, there's no guarantee that these films would have been any good or even mildly watchable, but there's something about them that keeps the brain pondering the possibilities.

Ever since Robert Downey Jr. was announced as Doctor Doom, the MCU fans have been divided into two factions. While some are extremely excited to have the actor back in the superhero universe, others believe that he had the perfect send-off in Avengers: Endgame, and him being Doctor Doom just ruins it all. Either way, Robert Downey Jr. will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Doomsday, and we are pretty stoked to see how they’re going to pull this off.
For as long as we can remember, Cillian Murphy has been among the top choices to bring Victor Von Doom to life. With his piercing gaze and intense screen presence, there’s no denying that he’d make a killer Doom! And if a Marvel fan theory is to be taken into consideration, we still might have a chance to see him play the deadly big bad in the near future.

Netflix’s new medical series has been out for nearly two weeks now, and after debuting with poor scores from critics and audiences from Rotten Tomatoes, it has still been a win for the platform. Despite ratings of 46% from audiences and 52% from critics on the aggregate site, Pulse remains one of the most popular shows on Netflix, sitting at #4 on the streamer’s top TV chart. The show follows the personal and professional lives of doctors, nurses, and other staff at a busy Miami trauma center with a hurricane closing in. Pulse was written and created for television by Zoe Robyn, and it stars Willa Fitzgerald (Strange Darling), Jessie T. Usher (The Boys), Colin Woodell (The Continental), Jack Bannon (Pennyworth), and Jessy Yates (Law & Order: Svu).

Why Did Christian Bale Say Heath Ledger’s Joker Ruined His Plans? ( Photo Credit – Facebook )
Christian Bale played Batman in what many fans called the gold standard of superhero cinema. But while the world raved about The Dark Knight, Bale quietly walked away feeling like his own performance missed the mark. And the reason? Heath Ledger.
In a surprisingly candid throwback interview with Yahoo!, Bale admitted, “I didn’t quite manage what I hoped I would. Chris did, but my own sense of self is like, ‘I didn’t quite nail it.’ Heath turned up and just kind of completely ruined all my plans. Because I went, ‘He’s so much more interesting than me and what I’m doing.” That line said with a touch of admiration, captured the shockwave Ledger’s Joker sent through Gotham and the film itself.
When The Dark Knight hit theaters in 2008, it exploded past the comic book mold.
