Exclusive: CBS has put in development dramas Near Death, from writer Chase creator Jennifer Johnson, and St. Bernie’s, from Instinct creator Michael Rauch. Both hail from producer Glenn Geller and CBS Television Studios.
Written by Johnson, in Near Death, following a horrible accident, a young woman’s near-death experience leads to inexplicable visions that prove surprisingly useful in helping her detective father solve crimes, and may also reveal dark secrets that threaten to permanently fracture their family.
Johnson executive produces with Geller and DeVon Franklin (Breakthrough).
Written by Rauch, St. Bernies revolves around an idealistic but immature doctor, who, when a small town’s hospital is forced to close, leads a determined group of locals who co-opt a diner-turned-veterinarian clinic into a medical practice to deliver much-needed care to their community.
Rauch, who has been under an overall deal at CBS TV Studios, and Geller executive produce.

The phrases “Ed Sheeran” and “hard rock anthem” wouldn’t seem to go together, but the sensitive balladeer has channeled his inner rock god on his new single “Blow.” The song brings him together with Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars, who themselves are a couple of strange musical bedfellows for a collaboration like this. But the three are actually nowhere to be found in the music video, which was released on July 8. Watch it above.
The hard-charging song includes sexy come-ons like “You make me wanna make a baby” and “Tell me, what’s your fantasy?” but the men themselves yield the floor to a trio of women who stand in for them on the stage of the Viper Room: Cherish Waters as Sheeran, Jordan Kelly DeBarge as Stapleton and Cheyenne Haynes as Mars. The video was also directed by Mars, who previously channeled a different era with his 1990s-inflected “Finesse” video,...

Ed Sheeran and Yebba took over London’s Abbey Road Studios for a new live music video for their collaborative track “Best Part of Me.” The video, recorded in black and white and directed by Dan Massie, reveals the duo performing the song in an empty studio space with Sheeran on acoustic guitar and a pianist accompanying them in the background. Both stand facing each other in the center of the darkened room as they unveil the emotional duet, which is all about the line “Baby, the best part of me is you.

Ed Sheeran has embraced the rock ‘n’ roll vibe of his recent track “Blow,” which features Bruno Mars and Chris Stapleton. The music video for the song, directed by Mars himself, showcases an all-female rock band taking over the stage at Los Angeles venue the Viper Room.
Sheeran, Mars and Stapleton don’t appear in the clip. Instead, former America’s Next Top Model contestant (and fellow redhead) Cherish Waters leads the girl group, performing the song on Sheeran’s behalf while a crowd of fans head bangs and rocks out in the audience.

Ed Sheeran has dropped two more tracks from his upcoming album No. 6 Collaborations Project. The first, guitar-driven rock number “Blow,” features Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars, who also produced the track, while the second, “Best Part of Me,” features American singer-songwriter Yebba. “Best Part of Me,” a romantic pop ballad, was produced by Sheeran alongside Benny Blanco and Joe Rubel.
“I loved making both records,” Sheeran said in a statement. “Yebba is phenomenal, she’s onto massive things. Bruno, Chris and I had a lot of fun recording. Play them loud,...

Ed Sheeran's upcoming album, No.6 Collaborations Project, includes collaborations with high-profile musicians like Justin Bieber ("I Don't Care"), Chance the Rapper ("Cross Me"), and in the most recent track, Khalid. Sheeran and Khalid's song, "Beautiful People," is a feel-good anthem about the importance of staying true to yourself no matter how much your situation in life might change and evolve. To accompany the song, Sheeran released a video that sums up the message while being really sweet.
The video, directed by Andy McLeod, follows a husband and wife whose run-of-the-mill vacation is interrupted when they're ushered into a trip dripping in glamour, Champagne, models, and excess. Even though they find themselves at fashion shows and flying in private jets, their feelings for each other and their lifestyle never waver.

Ed Sheeran‘s new album “No. 6 Collaborations Project” doesn’t drop until July 12, but he has already released a third single in advance of its release. And there’s a new video to go along with it. On “Beautiful People” he teams up with R&b star Khalid to sing about the finer things in life — and how they’d really just prefer the ordinary things in life. Watch the video above.
“We don’t fit in well / ‘Cause we are just ourselves,” he sings. “This is my only fear / That we become / Beautiful people / Drop-top, designer clothes / Front row at fashion shows / … That’s not who we are.” I mean, Sheeran and Khalid seem to be doing quite well for themselves, so that kind of is who they are, materially at least, which may be way they hardly even show up in the video. Instead, the clip focuses on...

Ed Sheeran and Khalid have teamed up for new song “Beautiful People.” The song will appear on Sheeran’s forthcoming No.6 Collaborations Project, which will be released on July 12th.
The tune is about remaining true to yourself and not trying to become one of those so-called “beautiful people” obsessed with material things and stature. It opens with pretty vocal harmonies: “We are, we are, we are” floats over a winsome melody and handclap-enhanced rhythms. Sheeran and Khalid each sing a verse about uncomfortable social situations, where a person can feel “surrounded but still alone.

Fremantle, Micanical Media and 2Jons are teaming up for Barons, an international surfing drama for the ABC.
Created by Micanical’s Michael Lawrence and 2Jons’ John Molloy, the eight-part series is set in the 1970s and follows two surfers who become fierce rivals as they create billion-dollar empires, winning and losing themselves along the way.
Liz Doran leads the writing team which includes Matt Cameron and Marieke Hardy.
The project, which has clear parallels to the Billabong and Quiksilver sagas, is in advanced development and the producers aim to start pre-production by the end of the year and shoot in Australia, the Us and Indonesia in April-May.
Lawrence and Molloy secured a development deal with the ABC and partnered with Fremantle. “It will be a highly polished, bold, big budget drama,” Fremantle Asia Pacific CEO and executive producer Chris Oliver-Taylor tells If.

'Monkey' man Rauch, Par TV ink for 2 years
Michael Rauch, the writer-producer behind the upcoming CBS drama series Love Monkey, is swinging into the Paramount Network Television fold with a two-year, seven-figure overall deal with the studio. The deal marks Rauch's first long-term producing pact with a studio. At present, he is juggling an eight-episode midseason order from CBS on Paramount Network TV/Sony Pictures TV's Love Monkey, which stars Tom Cavanagh as a lovelorn music biz executive in New York, and the second season of his Sony-produced ABC Family drama Beautiful People. "Michael is one of the most inventive writers we've come across," Paramount Network TV president David Stapf said. "He has a great understanding of how to put a show together. He impressed us all at how hard he worked on the 'Love Monkey' pilot and how it just got better and better and better. He's an impressive piece of man power."...

'Beautiful,' 'Weeds' have lukewarm bow
A pair of scripted cable series made modest debuts Monday. The ABC Family drama Beautiful People found 1.6 million total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. While its lead-in, drama Wildfire, premiered stronger last month to nearly 2 million, the launch tied the channel's highs for original series among 18- to 34-year-olds. Showtime's new comedy Weeds started softly in its 10 p.m. Monday perch, where it attracted 488,000. The series actually got more sampling during a sneak preview Sunday following the series finale of Queer as Folk, where it found 547,000. By way of comparison, Weeds topped drama Huff, which opened to 456,000 in November, but fell far short of Fat Actress, which premiered to 924,000 in March. Showtime is giving viewers plenty of opportunities to sample Weeds, repeating the episode Wednesday, Friday and Sunday in primetime.
