Good movie, but fails in the field of comedy genre
maros61229 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This movie had a nice concept, appealing cast, but totally failed in the field of comedy genre. A married couple, successful lawyers, desperately wish to conceive. Despite the effort and concern, it's not possible the natural way, so the couple goes through exhausting and low-chance medical alternative. The guy gets overwhelmed by the situation and spends night in the bar where he gets really drunk and ends up in bed with a strange woman. From this point on, his relationship suffers, and totally breaks when he confess to his wife. The movie then turns into tens of minutes of despair, and any attempts for comical moments have strong flavor of cynical, black humor, which in my opinion doesn't deliver the benefit of 'comedy' to an average audience. Overall, great European movie, but would be better if screenplay could withdraw from the marathon of drama and despair and focus more on friendly, intelligent, appealing humor.

Good story, but the idea is not new !

Warning: Spoilers
It seems that some parts of the plot are very similar to a book I have recently read, "Inconceivable" by Ben Elton from 1999. This book which was later screened with the title "Maybe Baby" in 2000. The main story there is also around a couple trying to conceive a baby with similar problems and a similar dialog-style of both sides describing their feelings. The difference are the job descriptions of the couple and the reason why they split during the course of the story. The cast of this film is good, but the screenplay fails to deliver the humorous insights into the thoughts and emotions of the main protagonists before they fall out with each other.
