This movie caused anger among Bodo militants of North Eastern India, who are shown in very bad light. This caused some protests and threats. Director Mani Shankar apologized publicly, although the film was banned in the region.
The so called Bodo "Militants" spoke in Tibetan which caused a huge uproar among the Tibetans living in India.
The film released directly onto DVD in the International over seas market. This was due to no distributors willing to buy the film.
Akshay Kumar was signed for the lead role but later left the film. Bobby Deol replaced him.
