When Frank's eldest daughter is helping him get ready for a date, in one shot a piece of metal trim on one of his Coast Guard ribbons is seriously askew; in the next it's completely fixed.

Michael throws down his white shoe into the paint to start a fight between the different families. When Michael runs downstairs with William, both of his shoes are back on and in perfect condition.

When Helen North first approaches Frank Beardsley at the class reunion, there is a noticeable spot on the right shoulder of his jacket. In the next shot it has disappeared.

When William gets the blue paint dropped on his head, it doesn't make much of a mess on his head, but the next time he's shown, he's completely covered in blue paint.

When the dog bites a hole in the air-compressor tube during the big fighting scene, the next scene is of one of the kids still spraying paint out of the air compressor nozzle.

Aaron Tosti is listed in the credits as "Hawk Nelson, Party Band --- Drums." Aaron Tosti has been Hawk Nelson's drummer since 2005, but the drummer that appears in the Party Band scene is Gideon Courtney.

In the earliest view, the Admirals stars are placed on his epaulets like lesser ranks, toward the outside. Flag Officer's stars are always centered on epaulets, no matter how many stars. This way being seen better at a distance, they are more easily recognizable. It has been this way throughout United States history.

However, the right side of the yard is completely shaded although nothing is there to cast a shadow, which reveals that the shooting location had many trees and that the ocean view was edited in.

When the family is shopping at the hardware store, Eli and Otter drive a forklift into bags of sand. At first sand falls from where the two sides of the forklift broke the bags, then a third stream starts falling in the middle on Frank's head, where there was no hole.

When Otter and Ely start up the forklift they set off in a straight line, but there was a pallet directly in front of the truck which they should have driven into and didn't.

When Otter and Ely are driving the forklift, Frank points towards the hydraulic levers that operate the forks, mistaking one of the for the brake, and telling them to pull it. The brake lever on a forklift is located to the left of the steering wheel, but he should have told them to take their feet off the pedals, the truck would have come to a stop a few seconds after.

The forklift operative left his vehicle unattended with the keys in the ignition and the handbrake off, which is why Otter and Ely were able to accidentally drive it.
