Throughout the years, video games have gone beyond mere entertainment and evolved into immersive experiences, often centred around captivating storylines. A key aspect of these stories is the villains, compelling antagonists who drive the narrative and pose significant challenges for the main character.
Some villains have become legendary in the world of gaming, becoming iconic symbols of the games they appear in. Let’s delve deeply into the realm of gaming and examine five of the most memorable antagonists in its extensive history.

Well, not every Resident Evil game can be a winner. Sure, the remake of Resident Evil 3 wasn’t as big of a hit as the Resident Evil 2 remake, but that all pales in comparison to the recent iOS port of Resident Evil 7: biohazard, which has sold around 2,000 units since its launch earlier this month.
Per Mobilegamer.biz, the port of Capcom’s 2017 hit has been downloaded just over 83,000 times since it was released on July 2, with under 2,000 users deciding to plunk their money down to unlock the full game. This has translated into Resident Evil 7 earning Capcom an estimated $28,140 on iOS, and that doesn’t include Apple’s cut of the revenue.
It also probably doesn’t help that Resident Evil 7 is only playable on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, and iPads with an M1 chipset. Products that Resident Evil fans aren’t going to be spending...

Dino Crisis first stomped onto the scene 25 years ago. It is hard to believe that a quarter century has already passed as fans of the genre-bending survival horror still remember the unique premise of deadly dinosaurs instead of a horde of zombies in many Resident Evil games.
Instead of Resident Evil 5, or Code Veronica, Capcom needs to give fans Dino Crisis Remake. To celebrate the anniversary, what better gift could Capcom give fans than a surprising, Dino Crisis remake announcement or an even more daring and roaring, release date within 2024?

While it’s not quite the Resident Evil that many are hoping for from Capcom, it’s still a welcome sight. After reports surfaced earlier this month, Gog has revealed that the original PC port of Resident Evil is now available on the service, with Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis coming later.
The 1996 port features all of its content intact, as well as “quality of life improvements” and enhanced compatibility for modern systems.
In fact, Gog has listed off those compatibility enhancements:
Full compatibility with Windows 10 and Windows 11. All 4 localizations of the game included. Improved DirectX game renderer. New rendering options. Improved timing of the cutscenes. Improved game video player. Improved game registry settings. Issue-free game exit and task switching. Full support for modern controllers with optimal button binding regardless of the hardware and wireless mode.

Another day, another milestone for the Resident Evil franchise, this time with Resident Evil Village hitting the 10 million units sold milestone. Capcom made the announcement yesterday, coinciding with the release of the results of the Capcom Town survey, where fans voted on which franchise they would most like to see a sequel. And you’ll never guess what franchise won.
Three years since its 2021 release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on May 7, Resident Evil Village has earned 10 million sales worldwide, which makes it the fastest Resident Evil entry to do so. That doesn’t move the needle much in terms of its place on Capcom’s Platinum Titles list at number 6, though Village would now be firmly ahead of Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6 and the Resident Evil 3 remake.

What’s the saying? Oh yeah… third times the charm and the Resident Evil series is no exception. For our third outing we’re here to explore the aftermath of the apocalypse with Resident Evil: Extinction (watch it Here). This one is pretty divisive with the consensus being some people, like myself, loved this film while others felt this was the beginning of the downward slope of sequels of the franchise. Hear me out as to why I sing its praises. For one, it tells a cohesive story and gives us a side of Alice that we’ve been dying to see. We get more new characters that bring gravitas to the story as well as a fully fleshed out villain and it’s a lot of fun. Plus, its pays homage to The Road Warrior in the best way. So, let’s hit up the Sand Dunes of Vegas,...

As the dawn of the new millennium approached, the world would start to see a trend of films that would become very mainstream. These types of movies are action horror video game adaptations. As stated in our previous video, there have been a number of different ones, but nothing stood out more than Resident Evil. In 2002, we were graced with the first in this series. It may not have been the critic’s favorite, but it did well enough at the box office to spawn a sequel. The name of that sequel is Resident Evil: Apocalypse (watch it Here). With a title that big, you would think the filmmakers went for bigger, better and more destructive…right? For the most part, yes and they even packed in some surprises for fans of the series. So today on Horror Revisited we ask that you suit up and strap in for Alice...

The seventy-billion-dollar deal between Xbox and Activision Blizzard will always be remembered as one of the biggest gaming acquisitions of all time. Although this deal has brought some adversities with it, like the huge layoffs at Microsoft, the great outcomes were just a matter of time. The most recent example has to be Diablo 4. This action RPG from Blizzard Entertainment is now coming to Xbox and PC Game Pass. However, there is a catch.
Those who have subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Core will not be able to enjoy the dungeon-crawling action of Diablo 4. That means fans have to upgrade their subscription tiers to gain access to this game for free. Let’s know more about the scenario.

This post contains spoilers for the "Resident Evil" film franchise.
Umbrella Corporation. The name will forever be associated with unsavory, downright evil acts within the "Resident Evil" universe, catalyzing the events that define the franchise. Although Capcom's "Resident Evil" games have their own set of canonical events concerning Umbrella Corp., the film adaptations that branched into their own universe also paint this multinational conglomerate in a rather infamous light. In every iteration, Umbrella is never up to any good: be it the manufacture and mass production of biological weaponry, or ushering a new race of virus-enhance monstrosities. At the end of the day, the "Resident Evil" films also fit the survival-horror mold, with a woman named Alice (Milla Jovovich) at the center of the horrors crafted by none other than Umbrella.

Capcom continues to rake in the sales for the Resident Evil series. In the company’s latest financial report, not only have the recent three remakes added to their totals from this past summer, but the series as a whole now stands at 150 million units sold. This makes the Resident Evil series Capcom’s best-selling property.
The report delves into the second quarter for Capcom’s Fiscal Year 2023, covering May through August. The report notes that Capcom’s remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 have now sold 13.3 million, 8 million and 5.4 million in sales, respectively. This is obviously up from the totals from June, which Capcom had reflected in their list of million-selling “Platinum Titles” back in August.
For those curious, the remake of Resident Evil 2 is not (yet) the best-selling Capcom game, as Monster Hunter: World still remains on top. Meanwhile, the Devil May Cry...

There’s not much that can improve the already impeccable Resident Evil 4 remake that Capcom released about six months ago. A remake that understood what made the 2004 original release so beloved while using lessons learned from Resident Evil 2 (2019) to bring it into the modern era. For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if it ends up being in many “Game of the Year” conversations. There was a part of it missing, however.
No, not Mercenaries but something added in the original PS2 release that somehow never found its way to the remake. I’m talking about Separate Ways, the story-focused expansion that told the events of the game through the eyes of super agent Ada Wong, Leon Kennedy’s budding romance/rivalry partner. Nathalie Emmanuel is the latest star to join the voice cast of the immersive animated series “Ghosts of Ruin.”
The announcement that the “Game of Thrones” and “Fast and Furious” franchise costar would bring her voice talents to the new series was made during the “Ghosts of Ruin” Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.
“Literally, I’m emailing the agents right now in this panel,” executive producer Michael Ramey quipped, underscoring just how “real time” the news had developed.
In May, Variety exclusively revealed that Rosario Dawson and Tony Revolori had joined the cast of the animated series, which follows a group of gamers as they compete in the first-ever neural reality battle royale game, named “Ruin.” However, a malicious virus appears and transforms their utopia into hell.
Emmanuel will voice Dr. Angela Tucci, who Stippec teases is “a very monumental, pivotal character in the run of the show.

Like sands through the hourglass, so too pass titles from the catalog of streaming services. Netflix, according to the handy resource website JustWatch, has only 3,600 movies at any given moment, and about 1,800 TV shows. That is, of course, plenty of entertainment and could keep a single person occupied for the better part of two years, but is frustrating when compared to what the average video store had back in the day. For instance, CineFile Video, a store still operating out of Los Angeles, has about 45,000 titles in its library. That's about 8.3 Netflixes worth of movies.
As such, one has to be nimble when finding films to watch on Netflix. Throughout the month of June 2023, some exciting and notable films and TV shows will be taken off the service in order to make room for new shows and movies. However frustrating it may be to have one's home video store possess an ephemeral catalog,...

The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
The Barn
Before The Barn Part II streams exclusively on Screambox on May 26, catch up on the 2016 original. Going off of Steam numbers alone, it’s safe to say that Capcom has another sales hit on their hands with the Resident Evil 4 remake. How big you ask? Try over 3 million units in sales worldwide in the span of two days.
Capcom confirmed that in addition to the consistent high review scores on from various publications (including our own), and the praise and attention following the release of the Chainsaw Demo, the Resident Evil 4 remake has surpassed 3 million units in sales in just the first two days after its release.
To put this into perspective, Resident Evil Village eclipsed 3 million in sales across PC and consoles four days after its release back in 2021. Capcom’s previous dip into the remake pool with Resident Evil 3 only managed 2.7 million in sales in its first three months.
It stands to reason that sales will continue leading up to “The Mercenaries...

It is pretty unbelievable that within the first quarter of 2023, horror fans have been graced with not one but Two strong remakes of modern horror classics. January’s release of Dead Space set a new benchmark since 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake. Improving on the original game’s outdated mechanics and giving it the functionality gamers would expect from a more modern game design. Dead Space also being gorgeous didn’t hurt.
But with Resident Evil 4, there was added pressure. To put it lightly, Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 remake fell short of the high mark set by the Resident Evil 2 remake. Cut content and fundamental changes to elements that made the original Resident Evil 3 such a robust series standout...

I’ve long been one of those gamers who thinks that underachieving games with great ideas should get remakes rather than already great games. That argument doesn’t make much business sense (which is why it rarely happens), but the creative logic is sound. An incredible game is often only in need of a touch-up (if anything). Proper remakes sometimes feel like they should be reserved for games that had potential that is easier to see through modern eyes and with the help of modern technology. Of course, Capcom’s recent Resident Evil remakes have certainly challenged that seemingly sound theory.
2019’s Resident Evil 2 Remake was a revelation. I already considered Resident Evil 2 to be one of the best Resident Evil games ever (and one of the best survival horror games ever), so I obviously didn’t think it needed a remake. Yet, that remake’s stunning visuals,...

There was a time when I personally believed that Resident Evil 4 never needed a remake. The original game that was released in 2005 has held up fantastically over the years and become such an influence on third-person action and horror games. Hell, we’re still seeing that influence in the series today as the exceptional remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 ditched the traditional style fixed camera angles in favor of the over-the-shoulder view that Resident Evil 4 popularized.
So when Capcom announced that a remake of their seminal masterpiece was in production, I was initially hesitant. How do you improve upon perfection? How do you update a game that holds up so well, even to this day? Well. I got my answers and more than I could have ever imagined with a remake that absolutely knocked my socks off.

Released in 2005, Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 revolutionized the survival horror genre as we knew it. A masterful blend of intense action, gripping storytelling, and unforgettable characters came together to create a truly captivating experience. At the time, it wasn’t exactly what survival horror buffs wanted, but it was what the series needed. Six years after the last numbered Resident Evil game, this new, action-laden approach was just what the series needed to attract more mainstream players and the first-person shooter crowd, even if it de-emphasized scares for thrills.

We’ve come a long way in the Resident Evil series. After begging for years for a remake of Resident Evil 2, we finally got one and it was such a resounding success that Capcom gave its sister game Resident Evil 3 the same treatment. Now comes a full remake of quite possibly the most seminal installment of the series: Resident Evil 4. A game that not only pushed the franchise in new directions but also influenced third-person action games for years to come. I’ll admit as a big fan of the original game myself, I was apprehensive to such a prospect. Recently I was allowed to have a hands-off demo of the game and can say I’m now convinced of the potential of this remake.
My demonstration opened up with Leon exploring ultra-atmospheric caverns. These areas are a stark departure from the grays and open-endedness of the...

Not to be outdone by Konami’s Silent Hill presentation yesterday, Capcom unveiled the first gameplay footage for the Resident Evil 4 remake during their Resident Evil showcase. In addition, Capcom also treated fans to a new trailer for the upcoming “Winters’ Expansion” that’s included with Resident Evil Village Gold Edition.
Along with the new trailer for Village, the showcase also had a brief interview with the expansion’s director, Kento Kinoshita, who briefly covers the story, as well as the new features included in the expansion, including the new third-person mode.
Speaking of which, Capcom has a new demo for fans to experience the first-person mode. And hey, it’s available today for PC and consoles! Keep in mind that as with Capcom’s previous Resident Evil demos, this one is restricted to 60 minutes.

Before Capcom gets to Resident Evil later this afternoon, they announced on Twitter that the most recent entry in the Devil May Cry series (that would be Devil May Cry 5) has hit another sales milestone. The fifth entry in the series recently passed six million units sold worldwide across PC and consoles.
Already the best-selling entry in the series, Devil May Cry 5‘s six million puts it within striking distance of the top 10 for Capcom’s Platinum Titles list. At the moment, the Snes version of Capcom’s classic Street Fighter II sits at 6.3 million units, with Dmc 5 right behind it.
Of course, that might change with Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 remake being right behind Devil May Cry 5, with the former having sold 5.4 million units as of June 2022. And if you’re wondering, Monster Hunter: World is still top dog for Capcom’s Platinum Titles with over 18 million units sold across PC and consoles.

There are diverse streaming releases slates and then there is Hulu’s list of new releases for May 2022. There are no big franchises here, no big themes – just a whole bunch of original and library titles for everyone to enjoy.
Hulu’s major original releases in May come in the middle of the month. Candy premieres on May 9 and stars Jessica Biel as your friendly neighborhood axe murderer. If that sounds a bit outlandish, bear in mind that this limited series is based on the real life story of Candy Montgomery and her victim, the tragically named Betty Gore. On May 15, Hulu will play host to Conversations with Friends. This is the latest adaptation of the works of Sally Rooney. After the breakaway success of Normal People, Hulu is undoubtedly hoping for more lightning in a bottle.

It takes more than just an iconic intellectual property to elevate a board game these days, especially when that game is essentially a dungeon-crawler. Games like Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion have revolutionised the genre, bringing innovation and variation to their worlds, in addition to fantastic core gameplay. Resident Evil 3: The Board Game definitely has a fantastic IP to work from, but having played Resident Evil 2: The Board Game a few years ago, I was concerned that Steamforged Games had become somewhat restricted by the expectations of the videogame fan base. Thankfully, Resident Evil 3: The Board Game proves that I was wrong.
First off, Resident Evil 3: The Board Game is still a fairly traditional dungeon-crawling experience, albeit set in the Resident Evil 3 world of Raccoon City and featuring iconic characters such as Jill, Carlos and of course – Nemesis. Players will choose from four characters and...

It’s hard to overstate how exciting the Resident Evil game was when it first appeared on home consoles. For years developers had been wedded to the idea of creating an ‘interactive movie’, which in practice meant shoddy, low resolution Fmv sections padding out a medicore game. Capcom went one better, using cinematic language and our shared experience of growing up in the ’80s, the age of the Video Nasty. With Resident Evil they created the interactive B-Movie…

Despite a strong showing from Ghostbusters: Afterlife last weekend, it has been a relatively quiet November since Eternals opened big the first weekend of the month. Things are looking to pick up this long Thanksgiving weekend with three promising new theatrical exclusive wide releases, and the box office will likely be back above $100 million for the three-day after two weekends of falling under.
The likely number one for the long weekend is Encanto, the latest from Disney Animation. Directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush (co-directors on Zootopia) along with Charise Castro Smith, the film is about a powerless Colombian girl in a family with magical powers, and like Disney’s Moana, it features original songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda. Disney Animation’s films get consistently great reviews, and Encanto, which features the voice talents of Stephanie Beatriz and John Leguizamo, carries on the tradition with 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
