Miley Cyrus‘ fiancé Liam Hemsworth has gotten the seal of approval from someone very close to Cyrus’ heart: godmother Dolly Parton!
On Friday, the 71-year-old country icon made an appearance on Australian morning show Sunrise via satellite from Nashville where she gushed about her goddaughter’s longtime love.
“Well I have to say, Liam, her sweet boyfriend is about the most-handsome thing I’ve ever seen,” Parton said. “And he is as nice as he is good looking.”
“She really lucked up with him,” Parton continued. “But I think he lucked up with her too. I think they’re a good team.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of film critics two questions and publishes the results on Monday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best film in theaters right now?”, can be found at the end of this post.)
In honor of Darren Aronofsky’s “mother!,” which just became one of the only movies to ever earn an “F” Cinemascore rating, what is the craziest movie that a major Hollywood studio has released this century?
Joshua Rothkopf (@joshrothkopf), Time Out New York
Talk about a self-answering question. Unless you can point to another movie that brews such an aggressive whirlwind of psychosexual anxiety, starring the biggest star in the world (who is also romantically involved with the director), then we’re talking about “mother!” I’m sure you’ve got “The Wolf of Wall Street” at the ready as an alternative, but how crazy is that film, given...

Kathy Griffin has rescinded her apology for the photo of herself posing with a bloodied Donald Trump mask that cost her a stand-up tour, a job at CNN and a friendship with Anderson Cooper. In an interview with Australia’s Seven Network, the comedian told “Sunrise” co-hosts David Koch and Samantha Armytage that she “is no longer sorry” for the photo that stirred up so much outrage. “The whole outrage was B.S.” Griffin said. “The whole thing got so blown out of proportion and I lost everybody. You may remember Lorde comparing her friendship with Taylor Swift to an autoimmune disease while promoting her album Melodrama a couple of weeks ago. Well, the "Green Light" singer initially seemed to hint that she isn't as close with Taylor as people think she is. When asked how it felt to suddenly be hanging out with her celebrity idols in an interview with Australia's Sunrise, she said, "I don't hang out with these people at all." Host David Koch then brought up the fact that she's part of Taylor's squad, to which she replied, "You make friends in different places, but I think for the most part, I'm not calling up my idols for advice necessarily." Lorde later clarified her comments in a Twitter statement, saying they were misconstrued. "Wow - something of a frustrating thing to have to address online but here we go. Taylor is a dear friend.

Remaining as a presenter on Southern Cross Austereo’s Today Network with Fifi Box, Lund said: “It’s exciting to think for the first time ever I can pick and choose television projects on any network.”
“I’ve also got the freedom to explore opportunities with Fifi Box outside of radio. We’ve formed an unbreakable bond, and up until now, our network contracts have restricted appearing on TV together, so that excites me,” he said.
Box is a Seven talent with an entertainment editor role on Sunrise.
Lund, who became one of the leading faces for Nine, hosting game shows, reality game shows and producing a documentary, began his career at the network...

Virgin auction documentary
Seven has apologised over the broadcast of a segment about the auctioning of virgins on Weekend Sunrise yesterday.
The Sunrise Facebook page was flooded with accusations that the segment endorsed the idea of virgin auctions as well as a documentary on the website.
The segment featured documentary maker Justin Sisely and a Brazilian virgin as guests, which – Sunrise executive producer Adam Boland admitted in a Facebook apology – made for “awkward viewing”.
A man involved in the documentary did not attend the interview.
Andrew O’Keefe, who co-hosts Weekend Sunrise with Samantha Armytage, said on Sunrise’s Facebook page that the intention of the segment – to debate the ethics of virgin auctions – had backfired.
“Unfortunately that debate didn’t happen, partly because one of our guests didn’t show up, and so the segment may have seemed like an endorsement of the project,” he said.

"Mark, you would know about that"
An awkward exchange during a Ten News bulletin has become the first piece of video content uploaded by an Australian TV network to receive more than 10m views on YouTube.
Uploaded as “An awkward moment”, the clip features Ten’s Belinda Heggen and Mark Aiston bantering during a 5pm bulletin last February.
Aiston remarked at the end of the sports roundup about The Ashes trophy: “I just can’t understand how something so small could be so impressive.”
Heggen deadpanned: “Well Mark, you would know about that.”
The video passed through 10m views earlier today.
The video has had twice the views of the next most viewed piece of Ten content – a report on planking which has had nearly 5m views, in part thanks to a member of staff planking on the newsdesk at the end of the report.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez held hands as they stepped out in New Zealand today. They're in Auckland after visiting Australia earlier this week for Justin's Believe promotional tour. He taped an episode of Australia's Got Talent in Melbourne and then headed to Sydney, where he performed a special acoustic concert and appeared on the morning show, Sunrise. Justin followed up the string of fun stops with a charitable visit to a Children's Hospital this afternoon. It's been a busy few weeks of travels for Justin, who already toured Asia earlier this month. He's had Selena by his side, though, despite recent breakup rumors, and the couple have even more excitement in store since Selena's 20th birthday is on Sunday. View Slideshow ›...

Dr Mumbo was sorry to hear that Sunrise’s David Koch has been stricken with the malady currently plaguing Sydney. The disease usually preys on the young and vulnerable but in rare instances can strike older people.
So disorientating is the illness that Nova FM’s Fitzy and Wippa were able to engage in a long telephone conversation with Kochie using only a selection of Justin Bieber samples.
Dr Mumbo prescribes complete bed rest and a strict diet of Al Green for Kochie. Get well soon.

Madonna has hit yet another bump along the road to celebrity fragrance domination (having already dominated the fields of, well, everything else). The mogul's Truth Or Dare fragrance is now the subject of legal action, as an Australian artist is accusing Madonna of ripping off his copyrighted logo.
Rj Williams, a skateboarder, gallerist and artist based in Sydney, has claimed Madonna ripped off his signature "M" on the packaging and bottle of Truth Or Dare. "I guess I want to protect what's mine," Williams told "Sunrise," a morning show in Australia.
He has been using his "M" for eight years and has trademarked it, although he tells "Sunrise," "If it's been in the public domain and I've sold it as art, as limited prints or as individual artworks, it is protected" even without an official trademark.
According to the Sunday Telegraph, Williams sent a legal letter to Madonna via her agent,...

Seven’s Sunrise is claiming an Australian TV first with weatherman Grant Denyer after he made a live parachute jump during this morning’s program and read the forecast on the way down.
A spokesman for Seven said: “Skydiving is no easy feat.. but to do it live on television is incredible. From a technical point of view this was an extraordinary effort. It took a team of six Sunrise crew weeks of planning to pull this off and a full day of testing yesterday. The timings had to be exact and the satellites had to pick up the signals. Three cameras were involved – one strapped to Grant’s wrist, one strapped to another skydiver and one on the ground.

From the advertising dollars to the ratings rivalry – television’s earliest timeslot is big business. Brooke Hemphill sets her alarm and goes on set to find out the perfect recipe for making breakfast TV.
It’s after midnight on a Thursday evening in Sydney’s Cbd. The streets are largely deserted as the final day of the working week looms. While the nine to five set are safely tucked up in bed, in the heart of the city, Seven’s Martin Place studio is quiet, although never sleeping. Several journalists staff the newsroom on the first level and one flight of stairs above, two producers work the overnight shift for Seven’s market-leading breakfast program, Sunrise. Soon they will be joined by line producer David ‘Dougie’ Walters who is about to begin his day.
At a time when hospitality workers and university students contemplate calling it a night, Walters is at his desk.

At the outset of Wednesday's (December 21) 90-minute "The X Factor" performance finale, which pitted three singers — Josh Krajcik, Chris Rene and Melanie Amaro — against one another for a $5 million recording contract, judge Simon Cowell predicted, "I think this is going to be the closest final we've ever had."
By the end of the penultimate show, Cowell made it clear who had his vote to win, and unsurprisingly, it was the singer he mentored in the race, Melanie Amaro. Following Amaro's second song, a rendition of Beyoncé's "Dreamgirls" ballad "Listen," Cowell gave up all pretense of objectivity and threw his weight behind the singer, whom he at one point cut from the competition before reconsidering and...
