Exclusive: Peacock has rounded out the recurring cast for Season 2 of Bel-Air with newcomer Al-Shabazz Jabateh (Prime Day Show), Nicholas Duvernay (Purple Hearts), Diandra Lyle (Secrets of Sulphur Springs), Justin Cornwell (The Umbrella Academy) and Reno Wilson (Good Girls).
Bel-Air, based on Morgan Cooper’s popular fan film that reenvisions the 1990s Will Smith sitcom The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air as a drama, hails from Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios and Universal Television, part of Universal Studio Group. In its first season, it became Peacock’s most streamed original series.
Set in modern-day America, Bel-Air follows Will’s (Jabari Banks) complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.

One of ABC’s signature dramas is staging a comeback. ABC has given a pilot production commitment to NYPD Blue, a new iteration of the iconic cop drama that will revolve around the son of Dennis Franz’s Detective Andy Sipowicz character from the original series. The reboot hails from NYPD Blue alums Matt Olmstead, Nick Wootton and Jesse Bochco. The pilot, a co-production between 20th Century Fox TV, which was behind the original series, and ABC Studios, is already casting its four main roles of NYPD cops, led by Theo.
Unfortunately for all Andy Sipowitz fans, in the sequel his character is dead. The return of NYPD Blue follows his son, Theo, as he tries to earn his detective shield and work in the 15th squad while investigating his father’s murder. Theo seems to have taken after his father as he too is a hard-drinking, hard-headed and quick-witted cop.

As the creative community tonight mourns the loss of legendary television show creator Steven Bochco, several of the writer/producers who cut their teeth on his shows and went on to great careers reminisced with Deadline on what made him so special. A common theme that explains how one man’s company could generate so many seminal dialogue-driven dramas like Hill Street Blues, La Law and NYPD Blue: Bochco was ferociously protective of the writers who worked for him, and heaven help anyone who violated that.
Ted Mann’s work with Bochco encompassed the early days of the provocative drama series NYPD Blue, as well as Brooklyn South and Civil Wars. Nicholas Wootton and Matt Olmstead came up under Bochco, and together they ran the signature series NYPD Blue after David Milch departed along with Mann and the early core of writers. Each shared some of their experiences with Bochco,...

Steven Bochco—who's enjoyed a successful career as a TV writer/producer alternating between gritty, acclaimed dramas like Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, and NYPD Blue, and absurdly high-concept fare like Cop Rock, Doogie Howser, M.D., and Blind Justice—has once more embraced his serious side, creating a new cop show for TNT. Murder In the First will follow Taye Diggs and Kathleen Robertson as they take on one high-profile murder case each season. The first season, set to air next summer, is just 10 episodes long, and will find the detectives investigating a dead addict with ...

"Justified" has cast another significant recurring role for its upcoming fourth season, adding Ron Eldard ("Super 8," "ER") to the mix in Harlan.
Eldard will play Colt, a military police sergeant who knows Boyd (Walton Goggins) from their time in the service, TVLine reports. More specifically, Colt and Boyd became buddies when Boyd spent time in the clink during his stint in Kuwait.
Colt has previously walked the straight and narrow, but when he catches up with Boyd again, he might find himself coming around to Boyd's way of thinking.
Eldard, whose credits also include "Blind Justice," "Bakersfield P.D." and "Black Hawk Down," is the second familiar face to sign on to Season 4 of "Justified," following Patton Oswalt. The show is slated to return to FX in the first part of next year.

Ron Eldard has nabbed a recurring role on Justified Season 4.
The veteran actor (Super 8, In Plain Sight, Blind Justice) will appear on multiple episodes of the FX drama, TV Line confirms, stopping by as a shady military police sergeant with a connection to Boyd.

A train crash unleashes a sense of wonder in Super 8.
Writer/director J.J. Abrams’ (Star Trek) science-fiction adventure movie Super 8 offers an almost Spielbergian sense of wonder and adventure. And it’s no wonder, as the 2011 summer hit is co-produced by the legendary Steven Spielberg (Jaws) himself.
The film’s story follows a group of kids in a small Ohio town who witness a catastrophic train crash one night while they’re filming a Super 8 movie. When the group realizes that the crash was more than just an accident, they set out to find the truth — which turns out to be something more shocking than any of them could have imagined.

Paramount Home Entertainment has finally announced the release date and details for J.J. Abrams' Super 8 on both blu-ray and DVD. So if you missed out on this film over the Summer (shame on you!) you'll finally get your chance to check it out.
Most of us here at Tmp really loved Super 8. Matt's review was oozing with love for the film, and it was well deserved. Now, fans will have the chance to take this darling home and enjoy it as many times as they want on November 22nd. I know it seems like a ways away, especially considering films like Transformers 3 (which has only been out 2 and 1/2 months) is releasing in a couple weeks. More than likely, however, they're trying to cash in on the Holiday shopping.
I mean, the big films with lots of fan followings (like Star Wars) can release pretty much whenever...

After a bunch of TV work in the likes of "The Shield," "Prison Break," "The Gates," "The Kill Point," "Blind Justice" and soapy "Guiding Light", New York-born actor Frank Grillo looks to have scored a rising feature career.
The actor has signed on for two roles recently, the first is to play a Chicago gangster who operates the Continental Wire Service in WB's ensemble crime epic "The Gangster Squad" says Variety.
He's also scored a key supporting role as the tough commanding officer of Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena's leading characters in the indie cop drama "End of Watch".
Grillo will next be seen starring as Joel Edgerton's boxing trainer in "Warrior" and has roles in both "The Grey" and "Lay the Favorite" which are currently in post production.

We brought you the news yesterday that J.J. Abrams' Super 8 had suffered a major leak when reports broke that Elle Fanning and Kyle Chandler had signed on to play major roles in the top secret sci-fi thriller. Now it seems the dam has fully broken as Risky Business is reporting that Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Zach Mills and Gabriel Basso are also on board.
Emmerich is a familiar face from the likes of The Truman Show and Little Children and Eldard was in ER back in the day as well as Black Hawk Down and Blind Justice, but what of the other names? Saul Rubinek had a major epiphany during the intermission—yes, intermission—of Murray Schisgal's play "Luv"—starring Eli Wallach, Anne Jackson, and Alan Arkin. At the time, Rubinek was a young Canadian actor visiting New York City. "People in the lobby were talking exactly like the people on stage," he recalls. "That had not yet happened in Canada. Theater was still being imported from America or Britain." Though Rubinek had no way of knowing that within a few years he'd be performing in homegrown Canadian theater, he was clearly drawn to the authenticity of indigenous plays. "I have nothing against imported art," he asserts, "but if that's all you're doing, it is decadent." Rubinek is refreshingly straightforward. Consider this: Though he is delighted to be playing Dr. Arthur "Artie" Nelson, the mysterious yet methodical Secret Service agent on Syfy's "Warehouse 13"—a program that evokes "The X-Files" with a...

One of my favorite actresses is joining the cast of America's most watched drama series. That means about 20 million viewers a week will get to see her in action. The actress is Rena Sofer and she's been cast on NCIS as a hard-nosed, no-nonsense lawyer. The role could be long term or recurring, they're not saying yet.
In fact, they're not giving much away at all. Not even the character's name or when she starts. Thus far, it's hard to see where a lawyer would be needed in the current storylines, so it's likely that there's an arc on the way that will bring her along as a key element.
Rena has a load of primetime experience, having appeared on Heroes, 24, Couples, Blind Justice, Just Shoot Me... but for me she was never better than when she was on General Hospital as Lois Cerullo.

I know what you’re thinking: “Hah, that’s funny, he made up the title of the movie.” Nope, I’m not. That’s actually the title that the latest “Universal Soldier” movie is going by. “Universal Soldier 3: The Next Generation”. And they didn’t just get a couple of roid ragers for the role, either; they actually went out and got the original Universal Soldiers themselves, Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. The film is currently shooting in some Godforsaken bombed out Eastern European country under the auspices of John Hyams, a TV director who has shot episodes of Blind Justice and NYPD Blue. Full synopsis for the movie, images, and a behind-the-scenes video from the boys at Quiet Earth, who I thought only covered post-apocalyptic movies, but they seem to have expanded into sequels of ’80s movies as well. Hey, you gotta grow, right? A crazed Chechen nationalist,...

ABC Studios' Quill comedy centers on two friends who embark on very different lives: Dean (McCormack), a heart surgeon with a new baby, and Seth (Wilson), a contractor with a new empty nest. Jenkins will play Dean's wife, and Zimmer will play Seth's wife.
For Emmy-winner McCormack, repped by Endeavor and manager Leanne Coronel, the pilot is formally in second position to his TNT series "Truth in Advertising," which is not expected to return.

A few days ago we saw another fresh episode of Eureka, brought to us by the Sci-Fi Network. We saw Zoe (Jordan Hinson) in a busy haze for the mayoral race, thus leaving her science lab partner to accidentally create another sun. We also saw Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) and Zane Donovan (Niall Matter) don themselves with some protective gear to literally put out the sun.
While we aren’t bringing you a sneak peek into next week’s episode of Sci-Fi’s Eureka, we do have some good news for Eureka fans out there who are just eager for a show of the same genre. In fact, the network recently announced that they are working on a new series which will serve as a companion show for the already successful Eureka.

Despite his relatively young age, cinematographer Kramer Morgenthau is beginning to make a serious mark in a field that has traditionally been dominated by seasoned veterans. The 39-year-old director of photography received his first Emmy nomination Thursday for outstanding cinematography for a miniseries or movie for ABC's The Five People You Meet in Heaven. It has been a steady climb for Morgenthau who began shooting features in 1995 in New York. The first kudos from his peers came just months ago when Morgenthau was nominated by the American Society of Cinematographers at the annual ASC Awards for Five People. In the short time since, Morgenthau has continued to build momentum, quickly becoming a go-to guy for television pilots. He shot the pilot for ABC's Blind Justice, more recently, the network's new drama The Evidence, in addition to FX's Over There, an episode of which he is scheduled to direct this month.

It's the same old Tuesday song: Fox dominated the night with American Idol and a repeat of medical drama House, while CBS provided the only remotely competitive program with The Amazing Race at 9 p.m. Fox's 8 p.m. edition of American Idol delivered an average of 24.6 million viewers and 10.4 rating/29 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. At 9 p.m., the House encore was on fire with a more-than-healthy 17 million viewers and 6.3/15 in adults 18-49. Idol deflated the 8 p.m. competition, but CBS' Race (13.5 million, 5.1/12) shined at 9 p.m. by soaring in the demo from its NCIS lead-in (13.1 million, 2.9/8). WB was plucky at 8 p.m. with Gilmore Girls (5.4 million, 2.4/6). ABC had a sluggish night all around, especially with its 9 p.m. anchor According to Jim in repeat (8.3 million, 3.2/8). NBC was weak from 8-10 p.m. with a repeat of Outrageous Game Show Moments special (5.9 million, 1.8/5) leading into 9 p.m.'s Scrubs (5.7 million, 2.7/7) and 9:30 p.m.'s The Office (4.8 million, 2.2/5). CBS and NBC split the bragging rights at 10 p.m., with the peacock's repeat of Law & Order: SVU (10.2 million, 3.7/10) winning in the key demo while CBS' fresh episode of Judging Amy (11.5 million, 3.4/9) prevailed in total viewers. ABC trailed its Big Three rivals in the time slot with Blind Justice (7.4 million, 2.8/7). For the night, it was Fox by a mile with an average of 20.8 million viewers and 8.4/22 in the demo. CBS was No. 2 in both measures with an average of 12.7 million viewers and 3.8/10 in adults 18-49.
