The film was inspired by the theatrical musical "Yours Truly Jack The Ripper" by Frogg Moody.
The film is based around Wilton's Music Hall in the heart of London's East End. Wilton's music hall opened in 1858 and it is possible that Jack the Ripper and his victims joined the 2,000 people who used to pack into the popular venue which has been lucky to survive the clearing of the slums, the blitz in WWII and redevelopment.
Some of the locations used in the film were the actual exact Whitchapel locations where the original murders of 1888 took place.
One of the final "arrest" scenes was filmed in front of a real audience who were not told what they were about to see. They had all been paid a penny to appear in the film.
Gillian MacGregor was appearing as Lucifer in the stage play "In the Beginning" when she auditioned for this movie. As Lucifer she was required to have long hair extensions fitted and after meeting her with long hair at the audition, director Phil Peel wrote references to it into the film so Gillian had to keep the extensions in for the duration of the shoot.
