If I had to compare season 2 of "Ted Lasso" to a season of any other show, it would probably be, strangely enough, season 2 of "Mr. Robot." Yes, these are two completely different shows; the latter's about a depressed hacker in a life-or-death mission to save the world from corporate supervillains, and the former's about a soccer team. But the conversation around "Ted Lasso" so far feels awfully similar to how people talked about "Mr. Robot" back before its third season first aired.
Both shows had successful debut seasons that blew audiences away despite the fact that its storylines were fairly predictable. If you've seen "Fight Club" before, you should've been able to tell where "Mr. Robot" was heading from its first episode; if you've seen a sports movie before, you shouldn't have been surprised when Ted won all the other characters to his side by the end of the first season.

In the nearly seven-decade history of the Primetime Emmys, there have only been five instances of a series netting three Best Comedy Supporting Actress nominations in the same year. This precedent was established in 2004 by “Sex and the City” ladies Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon and was then emulated in 2017, 2018 and 2021 by various trios from “Saturday Night Live.” This year, Sarah Niles, Juno Temple and Hannah Waddingham of “Ted Lasso” added their names to the list. The latter two previously vied for the 2021 prize, which went to Waddingham, while Niles stands as the only Emmy newcomer in the group.
Niles joined the cast of “Ted Lasso” in its second season, which originally streamed on Apple TV+ from July to October 2021. Her character, sports psychologist Dr. Sharon Fieldstone, was hired during the season premiere to help the AFC Richmond team out of a collective funk. Her episode submission, “Headspace,...

In a lot of ways, "Mad Men" unfolds as just one prolonged downward spiral for many of its central characters. And the epicenter of it all is undoubtedly prodigy adman Don Draper. For all his suave talents and enigmatic presence, the man also has more skeletons in the closet than a haunted house. Then there's his tendency to uproot and destroy lives — including his own — while trying to frantically run from said skeletons.
By the time you're introduced to him in season 1 of "Mad Men," it's not exactly a habit he's kicked either. Even as an intense fan of the show, Don's depressive episodes and reckless routines become a little wearisome at times. Like the casual racism and fierce misogyny, the show doesn't hesitate to remind you how flawed the people that occupy this world are. For Jon Hamm, navigating his character's worst bits took its own toll on him.

New Delhi, Aug 20 (Ians) Meditation apps that gained millions of users during the peak of the pandemic have lost traction and combined user sessions of the top 10 meditation apps have fallen 48 per cent from their height in Q2 2020.

The user sessions of Calm and Headspace meditation apps were down 26.4 per cent and a whopping 60.3 per cent (year-on-year) in July, respectively, reports app research firm Apptopia.
Calm just announced it is laying off 20 per cent of its staff.
The top two meditation apps have had a steady downward trend for engagement metrics since January 2021.
All top meditation apps are experiencing downward trends in engagement with the exceptions of BetterMe: Mental Health and Breethe.
On average, the apps in this market are seeing their sessions down 30 per cent over the past 90 days.

Sharon Van Etten has become a paragon for the type of stormy, sincere singer-songwriter rock she has perfected over her past half-dozen albums. 13 years into her recording career, Van Etten has now become the type of securely-defined, universally revered artist for a younger generation of songwriters who look up to Van Etten (and her consistent songbook) as a model of integrity and quality. She’s become the type of artist who younger artists, like Vagabon and Shamir, pay tribute to by covering her music to mark the 10th anniversary of her earlier records,...

Cults are a classic horror film troupe for good reason… In Dementer our protagonist Katie (Katie Groshong) runs away from a cult and takes a job caring for people with special needs in a centre. Our opening scene of running naked through the woods, with some surreal horror elements is suitably tense and peculiar.
Our “low on background checks” special needs centre plays out in the manner of a fly on the wall documentary and it works rather well. Katie gets involved with the patients drawing and colouring. She seems to care about the people, and she is clearly off to a good start. She befriends one of the patients, Stephanie, in particular/ Sadly, her past seems to be just behind her. Having gone through Catholic-based education since I was young, we used to regularly meditate in class as a form of prayer and so all my life I have associated mediation with a form of religious celebration. It was always pitched as an opportunity to focus on the lord etc., so you can imagine my surprise when I was recommended by a doctor to look into mediation apps such as Headspace. This app offers guided mediation which has been proven to have positive effects on people’s mental health and general outlook on life, as well as being incredibly relaxing. The problem with the app, however, is that of the 1000s of different meditation styles they offer, only a few are available on the free app and this is the issue that the new TV show Headspace: A Guide to Mediation tries to solve. I have to admit that I am...

It’s been a decade since frustration inspired Joseph Gordon-Levitt to create online arts collaborative HitRecord. After the former child actor (“3rd Rock From the Sun”) went to college, he returned to Hollywood and couldn’t land a role.
“I wanted to be creative, and no one was letting me,” said Gordon-Levitt in an interview with IndieWire. “Ok, I have to figure out something to do on my own.“
Gordon-Levitt and his brother Daniel (who died in 2010) started creating art online. “And this community started forming around what we were doing,” he said. “And then it became all about this feedback loop between me and the community.”

The Chernin Group head and former News Corp. exec Peter Chernin believes that Hulu, not Netflix, should’ve been the dominant streaming platform of the modern era, blaming Fox and NBC for diminishing the streaming service he helped launch in 2007 in a joint venture with then-NBCUniversal chief Jeff Zucker.
“The day we both left [around 2009/2010], both of those companies turned around and in some ways throttled Hulu,” he told Variety editor-in-chief Claudia Eller at the Variety Dealmakers Elite breakfast on Friday, alleging that Fox and NBC increased the ad load on Hulu and began holding back content. “Every single person at Fox hated Hulu,” he added.

As revealed on Thursday, the 10-episode series will be called “High School Musical: The Musical,” and take a meta, docu-style approach to the franchise.
In “High School Musical: The Musical,” a group of students at fictional East High stage a performance of Disney’s “High School Musical” for their winter theater production. But as they plan the on-stage drama, they create as much drama off-stage.
Per Disney, each episode will include a song from the “High School Musical” trilogy of films, as well as on original song.
Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated screenwriter and former Broadway performer Tim Federle (“Ferdinand”) is executive producer with Oliver Goldstick (“Pretty Little Liars”).

Ada, her family and a small isolated backwoods community worship a mysterious pit. The pit has the power to heal and protect all who honor it but at a deadly price…it demands an occasional sacrifice. In the new monster movie Beneath, a group of boat-trapped teens are menaced by a giant fish — although, as things go from bad to worse to whatever-comes-after-worse, it becomes clear the real monsters are the kids themselves rather than their piscine predator.
“That’s the point of the film!” laughs Beneath director Larry Fessenden, whose previous credits include 2001′s Wendigo and 2006′s The Last Winter. “That’s a little bit about my obsession that people have been parenting wrong. I tried to show some compassion for the characters, but they’re all just in for themselves and it leads to a bad end.

In the past ten years MODERNCINÉ has been dedicated to making high-quality, groundbreaking and edgy horror films avoiding clichés and complacency in favor of original ideas and memorable performances. Founded by Andrew van den Houten during his college years, Andrew began producing and directing a number of award-winning short films including the 2005 multiple award winning Headspace, MODERNCINÉ's first full-length feature. Headspace began a winning streak for Van den Houten producing Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door and Home Movie (directed by Christopher Denham [1]) which received favorable reviews at Montreal's [2] 2008 Fantasia Film Festival [3]. Recently Sound On Sight had a chance to catch up with Andrew and discuss his recent release, Offspring. 1- Offspring is your debut feature. Aside from the practical challenges, how was working on a feature different than a short, in terms of creative challenges? - I have made six features and Offspring was my fifth. Working on...

Composer Ryan Shore is one of the rising stars of the film music world. Thanks to his collaborations with MovieScoreMedia, more and more of his scores are now available to the public. Headspace, Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer and the Macedonian movie Senki (Shadows) are just a number of titles available from their catalogue. In the summer, Msm released a three-way collection of jazzy scores from Ryan's career: Numb, Kettle of Fish and Coney Island Baby are just pure fun to listen to. Now a new collection is available, collecting together a wide range of short film scores from Ryan's earlier days. The award winning animated shorts include the much-requested Rex Steele: Nazi Smasher, the Claymation short Shadowplay and the dark comedy Cadaverous. What connects together these scores apart from being written by the same composer is that you'd never think they were written for short films - they could underscore...

Renowned horror writer Jack Ketchum brings his chilling cannibal tale from the page to the screen with Director/Producer Andrew van den Houten (Headspace). A series of murderous home invasions in the sleepy seaside town of Dead River, Maine alarms the former sheriff George Peters (Art Hindle, The Brood, Black Christmas). The events are eerily similar to a bloody battle he'd fought with a wild and savage clan a decade ago, which has managed to elude capture and survive by hiding out in forests and caves. When the clan leader (Pollyanna McIntosh, Headspace, Sex and Death 101) discovers a secluded home, she orders her followers to abduct the residents, two women and their young children, to assure the cannibals' survival. But the kidnapped women have survival instincts of their own, and the former sheriff has a score to settle, even if it kills him. MODERNCINÉ (www.moderncine.com [1]) has been...
