  • Moderate
  • Hermione is seen crying after Ron kisses Lavender.
  • Slughorn becomes emotional when recounting a story about Harry's mother.
  • Lavender runs out of the room sobbing after Ron mumbles Hermione's name in his sleep.
  • Katie Bell is cursed by a necklace and is seen rising into the air before collapsing on the ground. Snape later says that she 'is lucky to be alive'.
  • Movie it's very dark and sad at the end. Also bathroom fight scene it's too violent for PG rating. PG-13 rating would be more properly for sure.
  • Tom Riddle asks Slughorn how someone splits their soul, to which the professor suspects (correctly) that Riddle already knows that it's by committing murder.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • Draco and Harry are fighting each other in a flooded bathroom, Harry hits him with a spell - he didnt know what it would do - and it makes Draco fall over and get slashes all over his shirt, he then bleeds all over the bathroom. Snape uses a healing spell though.
  • Death Eaters are seen committing terrorist attacks, blowing up buildings, smashing things, capturing people, executing others in the street, and destroying monuments. Bodies are occasionally shown strewn about and mass death is implied. A character slits his wrist ritualistically. Another character is tossed around like a rag doll and then held up as if crucified by an invisible force, her mouth wide open. She's slammed to the ground and starts screaming. After a character is poisoned he wretches, gags, and starts foaming at the mouth. Patricide and the murder of family members. Child soldiers. Murder of innocents and genocide. Battle that includes torture, mass destruction, implied murder, including bodies lying about and blood covered surfaces. Disturbing nightmares and frightening images. A character tortures Harry. A house is lit on fire in a celebratory fashion. The murder of animals. The death and murder of children is implied and discussed. Injury detail including scars and slash wounds. A protagonist accidentally casts a spell in a vicious battle that ends up slashing a character nearly to death. Blood is seen flowing across the floor and gushing from wounds in his chest. Zombie-like creatures, the victims of murder at the hands of the antagonist, attempt to drown Harry to death before they are burned by a spell. Dumbledore is betrayed and killed by Snape, cracking on the ground beneath the astronomy tower. We hear of whole villages being leveled and the Weasley house is burned down. The Dark idea of an item that grants immortality created by ritualistic murder. Themes of genocide, fascism, political and personal corruption, ideological fanaticism, spirituality, immortality, murder and torture, depression and trauma, discrimination, prejudice, and bigotry, war and war atrocities, terrorism, wrongful imprisonment, adolescent sexuality, the loss of innocence, abuse, inbreeding. Due to the PG rating though none of the violence is that intense and is very unrealistic and fantasy-based.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The scene where Harry and all of the professors and students at Hogwarts mourn over Dumbledore's dead body is extremely emotional and heartbreaking, due to the death of a beloved character.
