With a prominent recurring part on “Game of Thrones” and now a starring role on “The Last of Us,” HBO darling Bella Ramsey, age 19, has already built a career that would be the envy of any actor. Having previously clinched a BAFTA Award for Netflix’s “The Worst Witch”, she is now quite a serious contender heading into the 2023 Best Drama Actress Emmy race. If the teen triumphs for “The Last of Us” at the 75th annual ceremony, which is scheduled to precede her 20th birthday by 12 days, she will set new precedents as both the youngest champion in her category’s history and the youngest person to ever win a lead acting Emmy for a continuing series.

The 2020 Emmy race for Best Movie/Limited Actor is full of veteran movie stars, but there’s a chance the award could go to a newcomer. One of the Expert journalists we’ve surveyed, Matt Webb Mitovich (TVLine), and one of Gold Derby’s own Editors, Riley Chow, is predicting an upset for Paul Mescal, who plays a lovestruck young man in the Irish romance “Normal People.” At age 24, he would continue the recent trend of younger actors beating decorated veterans in this category. He’d actually be the third youngest champ in history.

Over the years the Emmy race for Best Movie/Limited Actor has been ruled by veteran thespians, from character actors to Oscar-winning movie stars. But there has been a shift in the last three years. Up-and-comers under age 35 have been winning, and they’ve actually been getting younger. That could be good news for “Hollywood” stars Jeremy Pope and David Corenswet, two 20-somethings in a field of seasoned rivals.
In 2017 the Emmy went to 34-year-old Riz Ahmed for the criminal justice drama “The Night Of.” He wasn’t a household name at the time, but he still managed to overcome A-listers Benedict Cumberbatch (“Sherlock: The Lying Detective”), Robert De Niro (“The Wizard of Lies”), Ewan McGregor (“Fargo”), Geoffrey Rush (“Genius”) and Ahmed’s own co-star John Turturro.

Sorry, Darren Criss, but your reign as the youngest Screen Actors Guild Award winner for limited series/TV movie actor looks to be short-lived. “When They See Us” star and Emmy champ Jharrel Jerome is the frontrunner to take the prize in January, and like Criss just did, he’d destroy the record.
Criss was nine days shy of his 32nd birthday when he prevailed on Jan. 27 for “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” becoming the first person in his 30s to win the award and shaving nine years off of the previous record held by Gary Sinise, who was 40 when he won for “Truman” in 1996. Sinise took home a second statuette two years later, for “George Wallace,” and currently occupies two spots in the top five youngest winners.
At 22, Jerome would, obviously, be the first twentysomething to win — just like he was at the Emmys — and knock off another nine years.

Alex Pettyfer has spent most of his life in front of the camera.
The Brit's angled cheekbones and blue eyes won him modeling spots as a youngster for brands like Gap, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, but not content to just be a pretty face, he decided to turn to acting as a teen.
Alex netted a few parts quickly, like the title role in the UK TV movie "Tom Brown's Schooldays," before fronting "Alex Rider: Operation Strombreaker," a young-person's adventure film, which also featured Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy and Mickey Rourke.

David Cameron loves Take That, Gordon Brown's addicted to Glee, Nick Clegg's an Othello nut . . . as politicians vie for cultural kudos, Mark Lawson asks: who are they trying to kid?
Gordon Brown's favourite Shakespeare play is Hamlet, while Nick Clegg's is Othello. For the prime minister, the greatest living British painter is David Hockney, but the Liberal Democrat leader prefers Lucian Freud. David Cameron, meanwhile, is a fan of the music of Keane – but the band can't stand him.
These cultural revelations have come from the 2010 election campaign. The fact that we know so much about the tastes of the potential premiers reveals the extent to which references to entertainment have become part of the business of campaigning. What a politician likes to do for fun (or judges it politic to pretend he does) is seen as a clue to their personality, or even their politics.
