In 2004, Ashlee Simpson was primarily known as a little sister. By the time she began working on her debut album, her older sister Jessica Simpson had skyrocketed from a young, Southern, blond pop princess to a bona fide A-lister, thanks to the hit reality show The Newlyweds, which chronicled Jessica’s marriage to 98 Degrees heartthrob Nick Lachey.
As a teen, Ashlee was famous by proxy. She toured with her sister and started to act on TV shows like Malcolm in the Middle and 7th Heaven. Her singing ambitions stayed on...

Rod Aissa, the executive VP, unscripted content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, is departing the company after 11 years. Aissa oversaw all unscripted lifestyle and documentary programming across NBCU’s broadcast, cable and streaming platforms: NBC, Bravo, E!, Oxygen True Crime, Syfy, Universal Kids, USA Network and Peacock.
Rachel Smith will take on the interim role of leading the unscripted lifestyle and docuseries group, which reports to Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming.

Heading into the 2004 SNL appearance that culminated in a now-notorious lip-sync snafu, Ashlee Simpson knew she was in trouble. “During that time, I’d gotten two nodes, and I woke up and I couldn’t talk,” the singer, actor and reality-tv star tells Rolling Stone. In retrospect, she would have handled everything differently. “Now, I would say, ‘No, I’m sorry, I’m not doing it,’” Simpson says. “I was young, and people can talk you into doing something.”

Remember this?!! "Well, she and I dated for about a year and a half and we were super close," Josh explained. "We were kids. Many people look back on their early 20s and cringe. But for Ashlee Simpson - who actually had those years documented on her reality show The Ashlee Simpson Show - it was all just a "part of growing up." "There's nothing really too cringeworthy. This was my life," the singer and former reality TV star, 31, told People at Swiffer and Mr. Clean's Clean Slate Workshop Tuesday in New York City. "Looking back, it's all cute. It was so fun," she added, smiling. While she hasn't released any new music since 2012, the mother of two says she "had a great time making" her early albums.

Ryan Cabrera’s new single “House On Fire” is the perfect mix of upbeat organic pop with a splash of indie-synths. Not only does the catchy single mark Ryan’s triumphant return to the music scene, but his first full-length album in seven years is set for release later this year.
ETonline exclusively caught up with the musician on the set of the music video for the feel-good track where he dished on his infectious new sound, his famous exes and yes – the Backstreet Boys.
“It’s kind of like an early ‘90s theme,” Ryan shared of the new Office Space-inspired video which features a cameo from his pal Dennis Haskins, a.k.a. Mr. Belding. “I’m having a really bad day and then I’m like, ‘You know what? I’m out.’ I leave home, go on a road trip and see what happens from there… It’s a very positive upbeat song and...

Did “Shadow” just get you? Are you an emotional brunette trapped in a bubbly blonde’s body? Did Ryan Cabrera‘s frosted tips make you weak in the knees? If you answered “yes” to any of these, then you probably miss The Ashlee Simpson Show more than we do.
In 2004 MTV launched a reality series around Ashlee Simpson, which introduced us to Jessica’s younger sister who tried at every opportunity to remind viewers that she wasn’t like the Newlyweds star. It’s been 10 years since the first episode, and while a lot has changed — including her hair color, nose and status as a recording artist — there are a handful of essential Ashlee moments that will remained ingrained in our brains forever.
With her tomboy ways and goofy sense of humor, Ashlee represented the second child in all of us. Following in the...

Okay, so let's try to look past this whole Dallas advertisement of these two (cowboys?) men looking out at the distant road even though we know they're just looking at the Kraft service table. Let's try to look past our fond memories of Jesse Metcalfe playing the gardener on Desperate Housewives and John Tucker in John Tucker Must Die. Not to mention, the fact that we were all seemingly introduced to Josh Henderson as Ashlee Simpson's boyfriend on the short-lived MTV series The Ashlee Simpson Show. Yes, Josh Henderson not Josh Hutcherson from the Hunger Games.

Last night’s finale of ‘The Hills’ ended with the camera panning out to show the final scene being shot on a sound stage and begging the question — was it real?
After six seasons, four years, and infinite character arcs, The Hills finally came to an end last night. In true finale fashion however, the episode ended with a huge reveal — the last scene was filmed on a set! So we decided to take a look back at the relationships, jobs, and drama to determine what was real, and what was fake, on the scripted “reality” series!
At the heart of The Hills was the relationships of main characters Lauren, Audrina, Heidi, and Kristin — but were they all real? Brody Jenner and Lauren Conrad always seemed to have an amazing friendship, but dating? I was never really buying them as anything more than pals. Same goes for Kristin Cavallari...

Spencer's new affinity for beads and therapeutic crystals is quite the departure from his past fashion statements (see: cowboy hats). Taking style tips from his super chill friend Charlie (who bears a striking resemblance to Stanley Tucci in The Lovely Bones -- flesh colored facial hair is my biggest fear) by practicing alternative medicine, Spencer claims to be "vibrationally tuned in," wearing the key from Atlantis around his neck, and carrying stray bird feathers in his pockets. "Crystals have calmed me down a lot," he said in last night's episode. Trying to spread the word of their magic healing powers,...

First Ashlee, now Audrina! Ryan, you’re totally a reality show serial dater!
Consider us unsurprised that Ryan Cabrera will be making appearances on The Hills now that he’s officially dating its star, Audrina Patridge. It’s still clear in our minds, at least, that, not all that long ago, Ryan was making googly eyes at former girlfriend Ashlee Simpson-Wentz on her MTV reality show. Do you think it’s convenient or intentional that Ryan manages to get starring spots on his girlfriend’s projects?
New couple Ryan, 27, and Audrina, 24, were spotted filming scenes for an upcoming episode of The Hills at new Hollywood hot spot La Vida, according to E! News. When HollywoodLife.com contacted Ryan’s rep last week, he told us that he was “unaware of any plan” for his client to appear on the program. Looks like he knows now, especially given that he confirmed it to E!

The Hills were alive with groans this morning after learning that Audrina Patridge has recruited a new parasitic boyfriend for the show's sixth season. The latest jackpot winner is musician Ryan Cabrera, who is no stranger to playing the role of lame love interest in MTV's brand of reality -- he dated Ashlee Simpson during the filming of The Ashlee Simpson Show. Although Cabrera will be featured this season, his rep laments that he still has not signed a contract. [Us]...

New MTV shows slip
Without Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, is the honeymoon over at MTV? As the Viacom-owned cable powerhouse heads into its upfront presentation Tuesday, its most recent wave of new series is not matching the ratings or buzz of the three high-profile programs that departed last month. Newlyweds, which starred married tabloid fixtures Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, signed off the same week as its successful spinoff, The Ashlee Simpson Show, and the former granddaddy of celebrity-verite TV, The Osbournes. Cameron Diaz might be as blond and beautiful as Simpson, but her new series Trippin' has gotten a tepid reception. Travis Barker of Meet the Barkers is not whipping up the frenzy another tattooed rocker dad, Ozzy Osbourne, did. Even MTV's most reliable standby, The Real World, has cooled.

'Interesting people' top new MTV series
While MTV placed an emphasis on three new reality series featuring celebrities during its portion of the Television Critics Assn. press tour, one top exec isn't concerned that the network is becoming too saturated with those types of shows. "Each show has its own characters," MTV Networks Music Group president of entertainment Brian Graden said Friday at the Universal City Hilton. "You don't compare 'The Cosby Show' with 'My Wife & Kids.' It's a format, but it's about people, and as long as there are interesting people and each has its own dynamic, we'll keep doing (these types of shows)." The network also has aired such celebrity-focused reality shows as The Osbournes, Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, The Ashlee Simpson Show and Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave.
