Netflix’s 3 Body Problem delivered its second straight No. 1 showing among streaming titles, leading the rankings for the last week of March. The acquired series top 10 had several new entrants, thanks in part to a change in how Nielsen reports the numbers.
The ratings service says it made an “enhancement” to its Streaming Content Ratings, which is the basis for the weekly top 10 lists, that results in a number of programs being added to the Scr product. (They weren’t previously “due to business agreements which preceded the rankings, coupled with the associated technical aspects of measurement.”) The affected programs stream mostly on Hulu and Peacock after airing on linear networks.
The upshot is that former Fox series The Resident (1.48 billion minutes on Hulu and Netflix) and animated mainstays Family Guy (837 million minutes on Hulu) and American Dad (619 million on Hulu) all made their first appearance in the top...

Beginning with the March 25-31 viewing window, Nielsen has expanded its streaming measurement capability, resulting in the company’s ability to report the viewership of a number of titles for which previously unavailable. Per Nielsen, a combination of previous business agreements and technical aspects of measurement prevented several acquired series from inclusion in its weekly rankings, and while most of those titles would not have made the Top 10 anyways, some are debuting for the first time thanks to more accurate analysis.
Among those titles is “The Resident,” which appeared on the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 for the first time during this viewing window in the No. 2 position with 1.5 billion minutes watched. The medical procedural ran on Fox for six seasons from 2018 to 2023 before being canceled, and has seen increased popularity since being added to Netflix in early March, though it was already available on Hulu.

After the success of One Chicago, a franchise co-produced by Wolf Entertainment and NBCUniversal that began with the firefighting procedural Chicago Fire and expanded into several spinoffs, ABC also decided to try its hand at franchising.
In partnership with Shondaland, the network turned Grey's Anatomy into a TV franchise, first with the spinoff Private Practice, also a medical drama, and then with the action-drama Station 19, which, like Chicago Fire, follows the employees of a fictional fire station as they navigate their personal and professional lives. The only difference is that the action moves from Chicago to Seattle, and the plot is much more action-packed and thrilling.
And so, Station 19 has been coming to the small screens of ABC viewers for six full years now. In addition, Season 7, as announced last December, is the final one, so we don't have many episodes left. At the same time, of course,...

The raging inferno that is a passionate and devoted fanbase with a mission can never be put out.
Not even the firefighters of Station 19 can douse the flames of the passionate fans' relentless pursuit of rescuing this series they love.
It's been an organized reckoning with fans making their voices heard since the second the Station 19 cancelation was announced.
Part of that fight includes passionate pleas for someone to pick up the series, and Netflix would be just the streamer to do it.
We were just discussing how the future is Bright for Netflix, the biggest streamer out there. If anyone could save this series and capitalize off the success that it could bring, it's them.

Twenty years is a long time -- for a relationship or a TV series like Grey's Anatomy. Just when you think there's nothing more to do, surprise!
Fans continue to tune into Grey's every season for the latest medical cases, relationship drama, and robust storytelling.
We don't get as much Meredith these days, but there is still enough to satisfy viewers, including the relationship mishaps with her new love interest.
While the show doesn't have the same pizzazz and character compatibility as it did in the early years, there is plenty of relationship messiness to entice fans.
But no matter how great -- or bad -- things get at Gsm, some relationships have happened in the last 20 years that fans will never forget. And some never got the ending they deserve.
Here is a list of our favorite on-screen Grey's Anatomy 'ships of all time.

Back in 2009, a horror film called Orphan told us the story of a married couple who adopts a 9-year-old Russian girl only to discover that she’s actually a criminal adult passing herself off as a child. The film was loosely based on the true story of Barbora Skrlova, a 30-something woman who pretended to be a 13-year-old and did some very twisted things that were very different than what we saw in Orphan. In 2012, a sad case that made it into news reports reminded people of Orphan. It was the story of Natalia Grace, a Ukrainian-born girl with dwarfism who was adopted by American parents who began to suspect she was much older than records said she was. The Grace case has been covered on Dr. Phil and the docu-series The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, and now the Hulu streaming service is moving forward with a Natalia Grace-inspired...

CBS has canceled CSI: Vegas after three seasons and So Help Me Todd after two. The news is not surprising as Deadline revealed earlier this week that both dramas were heavily on the bubble and in grave danger.
That despite CSI: Vegas and So Help Me Todd being solid ratings performers. With the entire CBS schedule doing well this season and three new drama series joining in 2024-25, NCIS: Origins, Matlock and Watson (in addition to a second season of the Australian NCIS: Sydney), the network was faced with painful decisions, and So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas are the least watched CBS drama series this spring in both linear and multi-platform ratings.
In most current linear Nielsen viewership (2/12 to date), CSI: Vegas, which improved its time period, is at #21 among all non-sports broadcast programs with 6.234M viewers and So Help Me Todd at #22 with 6.224M. That is more...

You don't need a crystal ball to accurately predict what this summer's biggest TV event will be.
The 2024 Olympics are sure to overshadow everything else on television when they debut on July 26.
The quadrennial competition always captures the nation's attention like few other events, which is why networks are willing to shell out major bucks for the broadcast rights.

The show, which streamed on Max concurrent with its on-air premiere on ID, had 1.25 billion minutes of viewing for the week of March 18-24. Netflix’s 3 Body Problem grabbed the overall No. 1 spot for the week (it premiered March 21), racking up 1.37 billion minutes over its first four days. The sci-fi series narrowly beat Prime Video’s remake of Road House, which had 1.32 billion minutes of viewing in the United States. Yeah, according to ABC's official episode 6 press release, ABC doesn't plan on airing the new episode 6 until Thursday night, May 2, 2024 in its usual, 8 pm central standard time slot. So, certainly try to remember that very important date and time if you can. In the meantime, we took a look at what ABC is serving up in place of new Grey's Anatomy episodes tonight and next Thursday night. According to the TV guide listings, ABC is serving up a repeat episode of 9-1-1 tonight. It will be the 2nd episode of its current season 7 titled, "Rock the Boat.

Shonda Rhimes has revealed that she had police protection and was forced to hire private security during her final seasons working on Grey’s Anatomy as fans began to threaten her safety. In an interview with The Sunday Times in anticipation of Bridgerton Season 3, the prolific writer and showrunner said she had to step back from engaging with Grey’s fans before exiting as showrunner in 2015. Despite being understanding of the show’s loyal fanbase, Rhimes was shocked when that passion took a turn for the worse. “Social media changed,” she said. “Fans have passionate feelings, and I was always fine with that. I understand the characters felt like their friends. They were my imaginary friends too. That’s why I was writing them. And I think people just had very strong feelings about what happened with their friends. But then it became weird.” In the last few years of her involvement on Grey’s,...

The Conners rose like a phoenix out of the ashes of Roseanne, which was canceled despite a huge reboot season after leading lady Roseanne Barr’s controversial comments about Valerie Jarrett.

Bad Boys apparently really are for life as it seems that this action-packed franchise isn’t ending anytime soon with Sony Pictures’ Bad Boys 4 set to reach theatres in just a couple months. This series, centered on detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett of the Miami Police Department, has already produced three blockbuster films that have grossed over $840 million as well as a spinoff television show, L.A.’s Finest, making it one of the most successful buddy-cop action-comedy series in history. The most recent film, Bad Boys for Life, was one of the last movies to hit theaters before the pandemic shut them all down and was able to be a critical and box office success – so why would the franchise stop now? Will Smith and Martin Lawrence (Lowery and Burnett) are back for the fourth film, and this is music to the ears of fans of the series since...

Second in a series on broadcast network series renewals. This is a rarity — it’s still mid-April and ABC has already made decisions on all of its existing drama series.
The popular Nathan Fillion cop series The Rookie was the last to get word yesterday with a Season 7 renewal after some intense negotiations with the show’s new lead studio, Lionsgate, which acquired The Rookie producer eOne in December. It joins recently renewed Grey’s Anatomy, 9-1-1 and Will Trent, with The Good Doctor and Station 19 ending their runs.

Dr. Shaun Murphy’s story ends next month following ABC’s decision to cancel The Good Doctor after seven seasons.
The announcement to end the series with a truncated final season came out of the left field because the network was prepping a spinoff titled The Good Lawyer a year ago.
So, where did it all come crashing down for The Good Doctor?
The TV industry changed significantly following the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, with networks making decisions that didn’t align with what we knew before the strikes.
For example, ABC debuted an entirely unscripted fall schedule because of the lack of scripted offerings due to the Hollywood work stoppage.
One of the biggest hits of the TV season remains The Golden Bachelor.
ABC’s priorities have changed

The Rookie will continue to gain veteran status as ABC has renewed the police procedural for a seventh season, TV Insider has confirmed. Season 6, which debuted in February after being delayed from the usual fall slate by the dual Hollywood strikes, boasted strong ratings: The premiere, which aired on February 20, ABC saw 11.9 million viewers tune in across all platforms in the Live+35 ratings timeframe, which is the series’ highest since October 2018. It also boasted the highest rating among the adults aged 18-49 demographic, with a 2.9 rating. On linear alone, the series boasted 7.23 million in the same timeframe. This is but the latest ABC scripted renewal for the 2024-2025 season, following the network’s orders for 9-1-1 Season 8, Abbott Elementary Season 4, and Grey’s Anatomy Season 21. Maybe the show should be called The Veteran from now on?
ABC has renewed its drama series The Rookie for a seventh season in 2024-25. The police procedural starring Nathan Fillion — which passed the 100-episode mark earlier this season — continues to draw decent-sized audiences for the network, even as it has outlived its title.
The Rookie is so named because at the show’s outset, Fillion’s John Nolan is the oldest rookie in the Los Angeles Police Department. Six seasons in, Nolan’s rookie status is long gone, but he “has used his life experience, determination and sense of humor to keep up with rookies 20 years his junior,” as ABC puts it in the season six logline. Mekia Cox, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Jenna Dewan, Shawn Ashmore, Tru Valentino and Lisseth Chavez also star.

Oh, the irony: In its seventh season, Station 19 is, as the kids would say, fire. New showrunners Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige have done a superlative job of turning up the heat on the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff. So fans are understandably hot under the collar about the fact that before a single one of their episodes had even aired, ABC turned the hose on the first-responders drama, swinging the axe and displacing it from its regular Thursday timeslot. (Instead of kicking off the night, it now ends it at 10/9c.)

From the idyllic coastlines of New England to the sunny Pacific coast, from the Jersey Shore to the Southern Gulf Shore, from Midwest prairie land to Southwest deserts and canyons — the United States offers a variety of cultures, climates and land masses that have provided the backdrops to some of the best television series of all time. We’ve set out to discover the best program set in each state, which brought about some surprises, some difficult decisions and a few no-brainers.
There are some states in which very few series have been set, and some stand out as the unsurprising winner, such as “Ozark” for Missouri or “Yellowstone” for Montana. However, there were a couple of instances in which we had very little to choose from. We planned to only include scripted series, but were surprised to find that Iowa has been home to very few , and those didn’t last long.

"The Love Boat" holds a fascinating place in pop culture history. While most of the shows with reruns playing in heavy rotation today were in some way groundbreaking upon their initial release, "The Love Boat" is a novelty the likes of which modern TV rarely – if ever – tries to emulate. An anthology-like rom-com set aboard a cruise ship, "The Love Boat" featured a revolving door of guest stars and little connective tissue to speak of aside from the cast playing the crew aboard the ship.

In the latest TV ratings, CBS’ Young Sheldon was Thursday’s most-watched show and — along with Ghosts — caught up to ABC’s 9-1-1 for the first time to tie for the nightly demo win.
CBS | Young Sheldon (with 7.4 million total viewers and a 0.6 rating) drew its second-largest audience of the season and matched its farewell run’s demo high; TVLine readers gave the wedding ep an average grade of “B+.” Ghosts (6.1 mil/0.6) in turn rose to best-since-season premiere numbers. So Help Me Todd (4.3 mil/0.4) and Elsbeth (4.4 mil/0.3) were steady.

Fifty years ago, “Good Times” became the first sitcom to depict a two-parent Black American family. Now, Netflix is debuting a present-day animated reboot chronicling the Evanses two generations after the original. Set in Chicago’s Cabrini Green projects in the same apartment from the 1970s dramedy, the series follows Reggie (J.B. Smoove), his wife Beverly (Yvette Nicole Brown) and their children, Junior (Jay Pharoah), Grey (Marsai Martin) and Dalvin (Slink Johnson). Black people aren’t a monolith, and respectability politics certainly aren’t the answer to racism, sexism, bigotry and homophobia. Yet it’s puzzling that this mind-numbing series is how creator Ranada Shepard is paying homage to such a classic show while trying to speak to 21st-century Black people. It’s also very clear why Netflix decided against sending out screeners for review.
In the season opener, “Meet the Evans of New,” we learn about the new occupants of apartment 17C.

Oscar-winners Helen Hunt and Dustin Hoffman have signed on to star in the new, still-untitled feature from British director Peter Greenaway (The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover).
Principal photography for the film has begun in Lucca, Italy.
Sofia Boutella (Kingsman), Giacomo Gianniotti (Grey’s Anatomy), Jonno Davies (Kingsman: The Secret Service) and Laura Morante (The Son’s Room) co-star in the drama, the first feature from Greenaway since 2015’s Eisenstein in Guanajuato.
Based on Greenaway’s original script, the film is the story of an intelligent man whose final big adventure is intended to be his own death, which he wants to organize in an elegant, sensible and tidy manner, with as few loose ends as possible.
“The theme of this film is highly relevant and topical in these times, where the end-of-life topic is headline news on a daily basis,” said Greenaway. “As such, I am very excited...
