Sam Raimi found great success with the ‘Spider-Man’ film trilogy, each installment grossing over $800 million worldwide. However, plans for further sequels were halted due to script issues. Disappointed with ‘Spider-Man 3,’ Raimi aimed to redeem the franchise with ‘Spider-Man 4,’ which unfortunately never came to fruition. In 2022, he expressed regret about not ending the series on a high note.
Despite this, Raimi’s involvement with Spider-Man continued as he and Marc Webb served as creative consultants for Marvel Studios’ ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ directed by Jon Watts. Recently, rumors have circulated about Raimi directing ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ the highly anticipated installment in the ‘Avengers’ franchise.
Recently, Raimi stated his desire to direct the final Phase 6 movie, but unfortunately, the studio hasn’t approached him yet.

The finale of Sam Raimi’s trilogy has undoubtedly been one of the most divisive Spider-Man movies of all time. Therefore, due to the audience’s mixed reception, Sony Pictures assembled a Spider-Man 3 editor’s cut, for the home video. Alongside alternate takes, dialogue revisions, and other basic changes, the symbiote suit’s dark influence on Tobey Maguire, majorly added significance to the editor’s cut.

When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's approach to the multiverse on the big screen, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is the only movie that realizes the potential of franchise crossovers between the old guard of Marvel movies and the interconnected films of Kevin Feige's Marvel Studios. That's right, not even "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" properly delivered on the promise of a multiverse truly full of madness, opting instead for hollow fan service, even though director Sam Raimi had fun tearing all those alternate Marvel superheroes apart at the hands of the Scarlet Witch. Instead, it was the meeting of Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire as the various big screen Spider-Men that delivered a mostly satisfying spin through the wallcrawlers' weaving webs.

The next live-action Spider-Man film is said to be shooting in September, and there’s another rumour that Sam Raimi is going to direct it.
Following a report earlier this week that Marvel and Sony’s sequel to Spider-Man: No Way Home is to begin filming this September, along comes a new rumour that Sam Raimi is stepping in as director. If true, it’d be a popular choice given that he made such a successful – even genre-defining – Spider-Man trilogy of his own from 2002 onwards.
The latest whisper comes to us via World of Reel, which reports that Raimi is “in contention” to direct the upcoming film, with the other directors in the running said to be Marvel regular Jon Favreau, and John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein – directors of last year’s cheerfully entertaining fantasy Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.

There is a lot that can be and has been said about the dance scenes in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3. Little of it has been positive in the 17(!) years since the movie’s release. Undeniably leaning into the director’s goofier comic sensibility, the film twice detours from its dour tone—which begins when Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) dons the bad juju vibes of an alien symbiote—in order to have a laugh-out-loud dance break. In one sequence near the end of the second act, and after Peter has permanently scarred and attempted to kill his Bff (James Franco), Maguire’s protagonist struts down the streets of New York City to James Brown. The strut then becomes a full on disco-like routine after he upgrades to an all-black suit.
Several minutes later, Spider-Man 3 further ups the camp factor by seeing symbiote-influenced Peter attempt to make Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst...

Even Mary Jane wonders if we really need to revisit Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man universe. Kirsten Dunst is worried about messing with a good thing.
During an interview with IndieWire, the Civil War actress was questioned about returning to the world where Tobey Maguire was Peter Parker. The former Mary Jane Watson wasn’t too hot on the idea, asking, “Honestly, do we need it?”
She’s right. Considering the cinema is choked with remakes, reboots, and readapting adaptations of other people’s adaptations, do we need to revisit Raimi’s films after nearly two decades?
However, superfans of the 2000s Spider-Man trilogy could find a glimmer of hope in Dunst’s comments. She may be back if everything falls into place:
“I don’t think we need that. I don’t know. It was so long ago. I just don’t know how they would, what the story would be.

Kirsten Dunst would’ve liked to have been part of Spider-Man: No Way Home had she been asked to reprise her role of Mary Jane Watson.
In a new interview, Dunst revealed she would have agreed to have been part of the MCU that saw Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprise their Pater Parker roles alongside current Spider-Man Tom Holland.
“No, no. I would have,” Dunst told British GQ after they asked if anyone had reached out to reprise her role.
Although Dunst says she has not seen the 2021 film directed by Jon Watts, she says it would’ve been interesting to see her Mary Jane and Maguire’s Peter Parker reuniting.
“It would be funny to be like, Ok, let’s take Tobey [Maguire] and I and do it in a weird indie way where it’s like a different kind of superhero film,” she said. “Like how they did that movie Chronicle.

22 years ago, Sam Raimi helped prove just how big superhero movies could be with his first "Spider-Man" movie. Starring Tobey Maguire, the film broke box office records and kicked off the biggest individual superhero franchise around. Raimi and Maguire united for two more movies, with 2007's "Spider-Man 3" rounding out the trilogy with mixed results. The original plan was for the two to reunite on a fourth film that never came to pass. Instead, Sony opted to reboot the series with Andrew Garfield headlining "The Amazing Spider-Man" films. But everything old is new again. Recently, talk of "Spider-Man 4" kicked up and, while nothing has been made official, the time feels right. Truthfully, it might be a now or never situation.
To be clear, much of the talk surrounding a proposed "Spider-Man 4" is generated almost entirely from the rumor mill and appears to be based on next to nothing concrete.

Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy is arguably the most significant for the web-slinger in live-action adaptations. It enjoyed considerable success, with each film grossing over $800 million worldwide. Raimi had ambitious plans for sequels, but ‘Spider-Man 3’ marked the end for both him and Tobey Maguire, who portrayed Spider-Man impeccably.
Unfortunately, ‘Spider-Man 3’ was widely considered the weakest of the franchise, a fact that Raimi regrets not being able to rectify. Despite the series concluding nearly two decades ago, it remains a topic of discussion, leading to the discovery of new insights into its production.
Dylan Baker is well-known for his role as Dr. Curt Connors, Peter Parker’s college professor, who played a crucial supporting role in ‘Spider-Man 3.’ In the film, Peter discovers the origin and nature of the symbiote. Back in 2007, director Sam Raimi showed interest in exploring Dr. Curt Connors’ transformation into the villainous character teased since ‘Spider-Man 2’ – The Lizard.

Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy is likely the most important for the web-slinger when it comes to live-action portrayals. It was a major success as each installment managed to gross over $800 million worldwide. It’s no secret that Raimi had plans for sequels, and many of them at that, but ‘Spider-Man 3′ marked the end for both Raimi and Maguire who embodied the role of Spider-Man so perfectly.
‘Spider-Man 3’ was by far the most weakest of the franchise, and Raimi is regretful he never managed to redeem this. The series is still talked about to this day which is why we’re learning some new tidbits about it close to 2 decades after the franchise concluded.
Dylan Baker famously played Dr. Curt Connors Peter Parker’s college professor, and he played a vital supporting role in ‘Spider-Man 3’ in which Peter figured out the origin and the nature of the symbiote.

From 2002 to 2007, director Sam Raimi helmed three Spider-Man movies for Sony. The films starred Tobey Maguire as the title hero, and they were all massive hits, pushing open the door for a superhero renaissance that dominated the 2010s. The series ended when "Spider-Man 3," despite making nearly $900 million at the worldwide box office, wasn't as big a hit as the studio wanted. The budget for that film was also wildly high, costing as much as $350 million to make, and fans weren't as excited by the sloppy storytelling and strange Venom storyline.
Rather than push ahead with "Spider-Man 4," Sony elected to wait five years and reboot the continuity with "The Amazing Spider-Man" in 2012. That continuity was short-lived, ending in 2014 with the release of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." Fan goodwill was at an all-time low. From there, a tertiary Spider-Man appeared in the now-flourishing Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While the MCU may now be satisfying the hunger of comic book fans with every major superhero and supervillain making an appearance in the MCU, there’s a certain charm to the films in Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy which makes them unforgettable.
Even after the untimely conclusion of the original series more than a decade and a half ago, fans still fondly remember the iconic moments that those films left for the industry.
Tobey Maguire in and as Spider-Man
Although the trilogy is revered as one of the best, the last film is pretty controversial since it led to the downfall of the franchise. And now, according to one of the stars from the originals, the next installment was aiming to do the same thing by introducing multiple new villains like The Lizard and The Vulture all at once, which had proven fatal for it before.

Rumors always seem to be swirling on social media that Sam Raimi is going to reunite with Tobey Maguire and direct a fourth “Spider-Man” movie. The duo jump-started a blockbuster age for comic book movies with 2002’s “Spider-Man” and delivered the genre one of its most acclaimed entries with 2004’s “Spider-Man 2.” Although 2007’s “Spider-Man 3” wasn’t a hit with critics, it still pulled in $895 million worldwide to become Raimi and Maguire’s biggest entry.
There was a time when Raimi was developing a “Spider-Man 4” at Sony, with Tobey Maguire back in the title role. The project was ultimately scrapped in favor of rebooting the web-slinger on the big screen with Andrew Garfield. Ever since Maguire returned to his Spider-Man role in 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” comic book movie fans have been clamoring for a proper “Spider-Man 4” from Raimi and his star.

Sam Raimi is finally addressing rumors that he’s working on a fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tobey Maguire.
Marvel fans have been speculating for quite some time that Raimi would reunite with Maguire for a potential fourth installment of the Spidey universe he created in 2002.
“Well, I haven’t heard about that yet,” Raimi said in an interview with Cbr during WonderCon about the rumors. “I did read that, but I’m not actually working on it yet. I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current Spider-Man [movies], and the track there, and I don’t know that they’re going to go back to me, and say, ‘Well, folks, we can also tell that story!'”
He continued, “I’m not sure, but I love all the new Spider-Man movies. I loved Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was really, super powerful seeing Tobey [Maguire] again in it.

Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire delivered one of the most iconic movie kisses of the 21st century in 2002’s “Spider-Man,” but it was “kind of miserable” to shoot. Dunst is the latest guest on “The Jonathan Ross Show” (via The Independent) ahead of the release of her new movie “Civil War,” and she remembered how not ideal it was to kiss Maguire in the pouring rain while he was upside down as Spider-Man.
“I remember [the film’s director] Sam Raimi giving me a book of famous kisses to be inspired but also he really wanted to make it special even though it was kind of miserable actually doing it,” Dunst recalled.
“It was pouring with rain, freezing, Tobey couldn’t breathe so it was almost like I was resuscitating him,” she added.

Known for his bold storytelling and unwavering vision, Martin Scorsese is a prominent figure of the New Hollywood era who has never been afraid to voice his opinions. The Grammy Award-winning filmmaker, 81, has expressed reservations about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), raising concerns about the eligibility of films that are based on comic book characters.
Well, remember his famous claim that superhero flicks are more like theme park rides than real-deal cinematic productions? It was a statement that both industry insiders and a significant portion of Marvel fans took offense to. However, when Scorsese speaks, listeners should usually take note of what this exceptionally intelligent man has to say.

The prop panel that Kate Winslet floated about on in James Cameron’s Titanic has sold at auction for a bank account-emptying $718,750.
When is a door not a door? When it’s a balsawood prop from James Cameron’s 1997 hit, Titanic. As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, this curious bit of movie memorabilia recently sold at auction for $718,750 – that’s more than £550,000 if you’re reading this in the UK.
The door was, of course, the bit of wreckage Kate Winslet famously clung to at the (spoiler alert) icy conclusion of James Cameron’s epic romance. The prop clearly struck a chord with bidders, given that it sold for considerably more than other bits of memorabilia sold at the same auction, many of which sound more immediately recognisable than a battered door.

Actor Tom Holland was last seen as Spider-Man in the 2021 blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film was known for the reprisal of both Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, teaming up with Holland’s iteration to battle the character’s infamous villains. The film was a major commercial success, earning $1.9 billion at the box office.
While the film had its moments of celebration and fanfare, it ended on a somber note as Peter Parker makes Doctor Strange make the world forget about him to save it. The film ends with the teen superhero starting a new life in New York and continuing his role as Spider-Man. A new report stated that the character would continue on this path, and that makes him vulnerable to be attacked by the Venom symbiote.

In Jon Watts' 2019 film "Spider-Man: Far from Home," Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is tempted to cede control of a newly-bequeathed orbital missile network to an alleged interdimensional traveler nicknamed Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). Mysterio mentions that he's a superhero from a parallel timeline and that Earth is only now starting to reach into other dimensions. Mysterio's story will later prove to be a lie, yet the notion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe multiverse was implanted in people's minds (building off its brief mention in "Doctor Strange").
That multiverse idea was then hammered home in the film's epilogue. After the day was saved and Mysterio was defeated, Spider-Man's secret identity was brazenly revealed on international TV by none other than J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons), a character not seen since Sam Raimi's 2007 film "Spider-Man 3." Raimi's films, it should be noted, are in a separate continuity from the MCU "Spider-Man" movies.

The “door” that saved Kate Winset’s Rose — and doomed Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jack — just sold at auction.
The fateful chunk of balsa wood from 1997’s Titanic fetched a whopping $718,750 during Heritage Auctions’ Treasures from Planet Hollywood event and was the piece of memorabilia that brought in the highest amount — beating iconic props like Indiana Jones’ bullwhip from Temple of Doom and Jack Nicholson’s ax from The Shining. In addition, Winslet’s chiffon dress that she wore during the film’s final act sold for $125,000.
Fans have famously debated whether both Jack and Rose could have fit on the panel, which would have in theory saved Jack from freezing to death in the final moments of the Oscar-winning film. Last year around the film’s 25th anniversary,...

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the sequel to Insomniac Games’ 2018 web-swinging adventure, has become one of the best PlayStation 5 exclusives of 2023. Along with amazing set pieces and action sequences, the game featured a strong narrative that kept people gripped from the get-go.
The events led to a pretty satisfactory ending, one that tied up most loose ends and kept some open for obvious expansions or closure in a future game. However, a few subtle hints placed in the game have given rise to a fan theory that is not pure conjecture.

After weeks of rumors, Sony Pictures has confirmed that all eight live-action "Spider-Man" movies are indeed returning to theaters beginning next month. Each film in the franchise, beginning with Sam Raimi's original 2002 superhero classic, will be given a week-long run in theaters from Monday to Sunday. It remains to be seen how much general audiences will be interested in revisiting these movies on the big screen, but even on the low end, this could be just what theaters need right now. It also could help Sony make up some box office revenue they were expecting from a certain other live-action Marvel project that fell well short of expectations.

Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returned to their Spider-Man roles in a multiversal adventure in the MCU film, Spider-Man: No Way Home. The duo alongside Tom Holland’s Spider-Man fought some of the iconic villains from the earlier Sony movies. Recent rumors suggest that this appearance might not be a one-time thing and the trio will reunite for another film. The best possibility of their reunion happening will be in the final film of the Multiverse Saga, Avengers: Secret Wars.

After the sub-standard Spider-Man 3, director Sam Raimi had planned to right the ship, leaving behind shiny new(ish) villains like Venom. Announced on March 12, 2009, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4...

The Insomniac hack from last year revealed exciting intel on games for fan-favorite characters like Wolverine, Venom, X-Men- the list goes on. Going by the latest finding, there’s still more information to be unearthed from the massive database.
Earlier today, an anonymous fan leaked the concept trailer of Insomniac’s Spider-Man: The Great Web. The video showcases a five-player based co-op game which, allegedly, has been shelved by the developer.
With a voiceover by Yuri Lowenthal (voice actor for Insomniac’s Spider-Man), the trailer shows five Spider-People from different universes banding together. They can be seen web-slinging and fighting goons all over New York City before ultimately facing the Sinister Six.
By the looks of it, the multiversal game looks fairly refined and well beyond early concept phases. However, it’s possible the developers put together existing assets to pitch the live-service title before changing their mind.

We all know that with great power comes great responsibility. And it turns out that original Spider-Man trilogy director Sam Raimi is ready for both, candidly revealing that there is absolutely a chance of continuing his spin on the series.
Appearing at a convention over the weekend, Sam Raimi revealed to one excited fan (via his X account) the following: “He told me that there are chances of this happening simply because he has the same desire as we do. But if it is to happen, it will be at the right time.” There’s a bit of optimistic speculation within that statement, but we’ll take it at this point.
It’s been 17 years since the last time Sam Raimi stepped behind the camera for a Spider-Man movie. Surely a Spider-Man 4 would have been on the table considering the original trilogy grossed more than $2.5 billion worldwide. And it...

‘Drag Me to Hell’ – New Australian Blu-ray Celebrates 15 Years of Sam Raimi’s Horror Return [Review]
Of all the masters of horror that helped to reshape the genre as we know it in the ’70s and ’80s, none were more successful in branching out and achieving commercial success within the studio system than Sam Raimi. His Spider-Man trilogy laid the groundwork for the influx of comic book movies that would follow, but he was eager to return to his roots following the third installment’s turbulent production.
Armed with $30 million and complete creative control, Raimi dusted off a story he wrote with elder brother and frequent collaborator Ivan Raimi back in the ’90s to make his triumphant return to horror with Drag Me to Hell in 2009. The Raimi broters seemingly drew inspiration from 1957’s Night of the Demon but injected it with a heavy dose of Evil Dead DNA, most closely evoking Evil Dead 2‘s cartoonish blend of over-the-top splatter and tongue-in-cheek humor.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going through a hard time recently, with most of their projects unable to meet fan expectations. Other than a handful of their recent projects, like Loki and Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 3, most have been unable to find a place for themselves. And though the hype for some of the upcoming projects – like Deadpool & Wolverine and the Fantastic Four reboot is high – fans don’t seem too excited about most other projects that are in development currently.
The multiversal tree in Loki
One such project, Captain America: Brave New World, starring Anthony Mackie in the lead, is not a fan favorite at the moment. The movie will be the first in the Captain America series without Chris Evans, one of the most favored faces in the MCU. And though Sam Wilson is a beloved character, given the amount of time this movie has been delayed with continuous reshoots happening,...

Thomas Haden Church has re-ignited the rumour mill by implying that he might return for a potential Spider-Man 4. More on the story below.
Spider-Man fans have been feasting lately. Not only did we have a pretty solid trilogy of films with Tom Holland’s webslinger, we also had the brilliant Spider-Verse films, one of which is currently nominated for an Oscar.
We still look back at the original Raimi trilogy with nostalgia-tinted affection, but might we still be getting Spider-Man 4 with Raimi reuniting with Tobey Maguire?
Thomas Haden Church seems to think it’s still a possibility.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, the actor who played Sandman in Spider-Man 3 and in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, said there had been “rumors that they might ask me to do another Spider-Man, and I’d do it tomorrow.”

Marvel has been making a lot of mistakes these past few years; mistakes that have significantly impacted their image in the world of superheroes. However, much like Tony Stark, the one thing the franchise has always been good at is learning from the past.
Recently, there were speculations that Captain America: Brave New World was making a very big mistake with its story; something that also happened in 2007 with Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3.
Captain America: Brave New World
It would seem, however, that the Captain America film is learning from the faults of Marvel’s past. Recent reports have suggested that the film will begin reshoots in some time which will cut out a huge chunk of the film. While many might be alarmed by these changes, it may be exactly what the film needs.

Since the threequel is still filming, there are almost no official confirmations at the moment about what to expect from the upcoming film. But when has that ever stopped rumors from circulating the Internet? And just as expected, a new rumor has taken social media by storm.
Tom Hardy in Venom (2018)
According to the said rumor, Tom Hardy’s Venom 3 will include a fan-favorite character who is none other than Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. After the mess Sony made with Madame Web, Venom 3 will be the studio’s chance at redemption. Therefore, it is understandable that they are trying their best to make the film as entertaining as possible, by any means required!
