Veronica Hart pays tribute to a classic theatrical porn film by Radley Metzger in this well-made sort-of-sequel. It suffers from the mainstream Hollywood habit of merely repeating the tried & true elements of the original, but casting Chloe in the title role saves the day.
She's named after her aunt, and portrays a best-selling self-help author, being interviewed on her book tour for a tome giving advice on better sex & self-fulfillment.
Hart follows Metzger's formula of deadpan presentation of sex in public, with no one reacting to the novelty. It is this incongruity that made his Annette Haven-starrer a hit, and likewise it is fun to watch Chloe and others utter freedom in having sex anywhere, anytime, while onlookers don't react.
Dru Berrymore as the interviewer does react but stifles herself out of embarrassment, and the one story element that works conventionally is Chloe bringing Dru out of herself by film's end, freed of those pesky puritanical inhibitions. In that way the film is uplifting.
Chloe is delightful, handling her dialog with aplomb and her sex scenes, including her famed specialties of anal sex and deep throat, skilfully. The vast cast does a creditable job and one would applaud Veronica's final result if it weren't merely a rehash of Metzger's achievement 25 years before.
