Rob Lowe has cut quite a path through primetime during the 20-plus years since he joined “The West Wing.”
He turned down “Grey’s Anatomy,” but landed in the ensemble of “Parks and Recreation.” He sold a show about chasing Bigfoot with his sons to A&e Network. From 2003 to 2018 he was also a regular or recurring on series “Code Black,” “The Grinder,” “Californication,” “Brothers and Sisters,” “Dr. Vegas” and “The Lyon’s Den.” Then there was the scene-stealing turn as a plastic surgeon in 2013’s “Behind the Candelabra,” and roles in U.K. episodic series productions including 2005’s “Beach Girls,” 2015’s “You, Me and the Apocalypse” and 2019’s “Wild Bill.”
Last year, Lowe landed his biggest hit yet as a TV leading man when he moved into Ryan Murphy’s orbit as the star of Fox’s “9-1-1: Lone Star.” In the spinoff of the procedural about emergency responders, Lowe plays Owen Strand,...

Big Brother has been filled with drama since its inception 20 years ago.
Several people have won the grand prize, and while some may not have deserved it, they managed to scheme their way to the top spot.
With a second All-Stars season on the way, it's time to take a look back at some of the winners and where they are at today.
Eddie McGee (Season 1)
Big Brother was a very different game when it launched back in the year 2000.
McGee played a decent enough game and is the first-ever winner of the U.S. iteration.
In the years since his win, he has worked as an actor, with roles in The Human Race and God's Pocket.
Will Kirby (Season 2)
Will is one of the best players to ever enter the house. There's no doubt about that.
He subsequently returned to the game in Big Brother: All Stars, and finished in fourth place.

It’s a pretty simple chain of events that led to “Sharp Objects” becoming TV fans’ new obsession, especially those who appreciate a touch of Southern Gothic melancholy. As IndieWire learned from the show’s key figures, it began like many shows do: Someone wrote a book.
Specifically, the first novel written by Gillian Flynn and published in 2006. While the author’s later novels, “Dark Places” and “Gone Girl,” made a relatively quick transition to the big screen, Flynn noted that “Sharp Objects” didn’t have the same luck. “[The adaptation rights] had been picked up and dropped and picked up and dropped as a movie, from way back when it was released in 2006,” she said. “It languished, languished, languished.”
Separately, in a moment that she described as “happenstance,” eventual showrunner Marti Noxon stumbled across a copy of Flynn’s “Gone Girl” at a book fair. “I was never really a mystery fan,...

The majority of Reach Me writer/director John Herzfeld‘s credits involve television, from TV series like Rob Lowe’s Dr. Vegas to TV films such as 1997’s Emmy-nominated Don King: Only in America. He’s done a bit of film work, notably 15 Minutes and 2 Days in the Valley, both films with enormous, famous casts that follow the lives of many supporting characters – falling in line closely with his latest. More importantly, he’s buds with Sylvester Stallone, who helped him crowdfund this project. In the movie, a mysterious author (Tom Berenger) has written a self-help book, entitled “Reach Me,” that’s found its way into the hands of many unsuspecting Californians, slowly changing their lives and bringing them together in ways they could not have imagined. Its themes are relevant to all: freed inmates (Kyra Sedgwick), rich rappers (Nelly), and the journalists who pursue its elusive author (Kevin Connolly and Sylvester Stallone). The book will cause...

It was in 2004 that she went dark red, for the ill-fated Rob Lowe TV show “Dr. Vegas.” “I played a nurse, and there was this beautiful blonde, Sarah Lancaster, who was cast as the casino dealer,” says Adams. “I’m in a room with her, and they said, ‘Someone’s going to have to change their hair color.’ She’s tan with these beautiful lioness green eyes and this mane of blonde hair. Rob Lowe has announced that he is leaving the hit ABC drama Brothers & Sisters.
His reps confirm that Lowe is leaving the show later this season because he isn't being used enough. Every time I hear that as the reason why someone is leaving a show I think of the line Catherine said on NewsRadio after a magazine review said she wasn't being used enough. Dave said that he'd "find more ways to use you" and Catherine responded "uh huh. I've heard that noise before." Lowe plays Senator Robert McAllister on the show and he's married to Calista Flockhart's character Kitty.
Lowe left a hit TV show once before. He quit The West Wing in the middle of the fourth season, pretty much for the same reason. ABC would like to keep him around and maybe give him his own show. That's a great idea. As long as it's not a rejuvenated Dr. Vegas.

CBS got a jump-start on Monday's official kickoff of the 2005-06 season with solid, if not spectacular, debuts last week for the 11th edition of Survivor and the Friday freshman drama Threshold. The two-hour debut of Threshold, starring Carla Gugino, averaged 8.5 million viewers and a 2.9 rating/9 share in the adults 18-49 demographic from 9-11 p.m., according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. In adults 25-54, Threshold was competitive with a 3.8/11 average. The good news for CBS was that the sci-fi drama's numbers inched up steadily during its two-hour time slot, and it marked an improvement in the demo column compared to CBS' performance this time last year with the Friday premieres of JAG and the short-lived 10 p.m. drama Dr. Vegas. The eye network opened the night Friday with a fresh episode of Big Brother 6 (7.1 million, 2.7/10).

Rob Lowe's new drama Dr Vegas has been put on indefinite hiatus by TV bosses - potentially marking the star's second failed show in as many years. Bosses at American network CBS have not said the show is being cancelled, but many programs never return from hiatus. The show, which features Lowe as a house doctor in a Las Vegas casino, has ranked 53rd among prime-time network programs for the season to date. Lowe's previous series, The Lyon's Den, was a ratings disappointment last season for network NBC, which hoped the show would attract fans of Lowe's work on hit drama The West Wing.

Boomtown alumni Donnie Wahlberg and Jon Avnet have teamed with ER veteran Jack Orman for an NBC drama project. The Warner Bros. TV show, which has received a script commitment with penalty from the network, would star Wahlberg as a good cop who goes undercover in a world of bad cops. Orman, who is under an overall deal at WBTV, will pen the script. Avnet, who also directed the pilot for Boomtown, is set to direct. Both will executive produce the project, with Wahlberg serving as producer. In addition to directing the pilot, Avnet was an executive producer on the critically praised Boomtown. On the feature side, he most recently produced Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Avnet is repped by CAA. Orman, whose credits also include CBS' JAG, is working as an executive producer on Dr. Vegas, WBTV's drama for CBS. He is repped by the Gersh Agency and attorney John Moonves. Wahlberg, who most recently appeared on the big screen in Dreamcatcher, is repped by IFA Talent Agency and the Firm.
