- Frank Hopper (Bon Jovi) is a former lawyer, long-term loser and constant dreamer - and frankly, probably just not all that bright. When he receives a credit card in the mail, he believes he's hit the jackpot. It's not long before he's working his way toward financing his dream - an all-woman hockey team. He's also put himself in debt to the tune of more than $300,000. Naturally, he winds up in court when his plan backfires.—CartmanKun@aol.com
- Frank Hopper (Bon Jovi) is a former lawyer, who is a serial inventor and has developed a new game called the Boomerazoo. He demoed the product to the President of a toy company, but the Bomerazoo hit her straight in the head as the gyro honed in on the metal plate in her head. Frank is Leona's (Nora Dunn) brother, who tells him to stop dreaming and get a job. Frank lives in Leona's garage. Carl (David Faustino) is Frank's best friend. Carl keeps encouraging Frank despite his limited success.
Leona makes Frank waitress at a party she is catering. There Frank meets his ex-flame Jesicca (Estella Warren), who is with Norman (Cary Elwes) now. Norman is the assistant DA. Frank gets into a fight with a dwarf and ends up wrecking the whole thing. He gets the idea of starting a world wide women's hockey league, when Jessica fell and knocked off 2 other women on her way down. Carl is skeptical, as equipment alone will cost a lot of money.
Frank receives a credit card in the mail, after he fills out a mall survey indicating his annual income to be $1 MM pa. Frank buys a car and gets Christmas gifts for everyone, in September. Frank's meeting with potential investors is a disaster as they laugh him off. Frank continues to get credit cards from other banks.
It's not long before he's working his way toward financing his dream - an all-woman hockey team. He plans to start with 2 teams. Real, beautiful women who can play hockey. Frank hires an office space for their new HQ, which looks like a dump and Elvis (Pat Kilbane) lives there. Carl helps fix up the office HQ. While Frank books the Colosseum for their opening night game. Frank and Carl conduct the tryout for the first 2 teams. Tiny (Dana Barron), Carl's girlfriend, also attends the tryouts as she is dying to knock the ass out of someone.
The selections are done and the teams start practicing for the opening night. Jesicca and Leona come by to see the progress. Jesicca says she is no longer with Norman. Jesicca says that Frank never finishes what he starts. She agrees to have dinner with Frank, and they end up having sex. Carl finds out about the dozens of credit cards that Frank has been maxing to fund his hockey league. Frank has been making minimum payments on his cards, and in response the banks keep sending him new ones. There were no investors and Frank has been spending money on crazy things, which are a luxury at best.
Wendy is a muscular player who beats the crap out of Tiny, who is hospitalized. Tiny breaks up with Carl. Wendy's boyfriend cheats on her and she is devastated and thinks about quitting the league. Frank decides to bring Carl and Wendy together. Carl only agrees for the sake of the league. Wendy goes to a "all you can eat" ribs joint, and brings Carl back to her apartment. She wants to have sex and Carl is scared as she was the wrestling champion before she became a hockey player. Carl faints. Danielle (Danielle James) is the French player.
Frank put himself in debt to more than $300,000. Turns out the dwarf is the boss of one of the credit card companies, and the delinquency case reaches him. All of Frank's cards are blocked. Opening night rolls around and 2000 tickets are already sold. It promises to be a great start. The game begins and its a massive hit. The fans enjoy and have a great time. Wendy takes on the entire team by herself and Elvis has to sing the national anthem to get them to stop. The police arrive and arrest Frank for credit card fraud. Jessica is disappointed as she figures out how Frank funded the league. Leona bails him out, but Frank needs a trial lawyer and Leona begs Jessica to take up his case. Norman is prosecuting & wants to prove that Frank had no means or intention of paying and hence committed fraud. Jessica says that the league is over and Frank should settle with the bank. But Frank decides to testify and face Norman in court.
Norman proves there is a debt of $329000.69 pending against 208 credit cards. Jessica again asks him settle, and Frank decides to defend himself. Frank is able to prove that the card companies tricked him into filling an application in guise of a survey. He used the cards, and opened a bank account under a business address, upon which they sent him even more cards to use. Thats when Frank started the league. He had every intention of paying the bills from the earnings from the league. Also his nephew also received a pre-approved credit card in the mail. Even a dog got a credit card in the mail. Not just that, a monk, a donkey, an Aborigine all had cards. During the jury deliberations Carl narrates the entire story to the court janitor (Curtis Armstrong).
The jury finds Frank not guilty. Turns out Elvis owns the rink and the bank across the street. He funds Frank and repays his credit cards debt, so he can focus on making the league as big as it can be.
