Barry Levinson is moving from the horrors of man's manipulations with nature to man's own horrible nature. Last year he put together the low-key 'found footage' eco-horror thriller The Bay, which will be released [1] this year by Lionsgate. And now he has been tapped as the director for Gotti: Three Generations, which recently saw the departure [2] of planned director Nick Cassavetes. Nothing else has reportedly changed about the film, which has John Travolta set to play John 'The Teflon Don' Gotti, Sr., with Joe Pesci set to play deputy crime figure Angelo Ruggiero. Lindsay Lohan will be Kim Gotti, wife of John Gotti, Jr. And the junior Gotti -- the real one -- has been working with screenwriter Leo Rossi to craft the all-true screen tale of his family's dominance of the Gambino crime syndicate. John Gotti Sr. was the Gambino Don for over 15 years, throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s.

Back in 2005 before the " Jersey Shore ," Frank , John and Carmine Gotti Agnello -- along with mom Victoria Gotti -- were America's favorite orange, over gelled reality TV gang on the series " Growing Up Gotti ." Honestly, this picture should just be Lindsay Lohan’s audition tape for Gotti: Three Generations. After all, there’s a lot riding on the actress nabbing the role of Victoria Gotti in the film, starring John Travolta as John Gotti, Sr.: It could just be Lohan’s first post-rehab (and, let’s face it, post-2006) success. (As mentioned at Tuesday’s press conference for the film, Lohan is currently in talks for the role.)

A press conference was held today that seems to have been a big love fest between the Gotti family and Hollywood. The concrete news on the table is that Joe Pesci is going to be joining John Travolta in the upcoming Nick Cassavetes mobography Gotti: Three Generations playing the role of Angelo Ruggiero. The not yet concrete news is that they are in negotiations with Lindsay Lohan to play John Gotti Sr.’s daughter, Victoria Gotti. Things seem to be pretty far along on that front though, as Lohan attended the press conference. The film is being described as an “open door insider’s look” into the Gotti family history that was written by Leo Rossi after numerous interviews with members of the Gotti family and John Gotti Sr.’s attorneys. Want an eye into the Gotti family thought process? Los Angeles, CA, United States (Ahn Entertainment) - Lindsay Lohan may be starring alongside John Travolta and Kim Kardashian in a film about the infamous family led by mob boss John Gotti. The recovering addict is said to be in "final talks" to take on the role of Victoria Gotti, the late mafioso's daughter and a one-time reality TV star.
It was previously reported that Travolta will play Gotti, a.k.a. The Dapper Don and The Teflon Don, while the "Keeping Up with the Kardashian" star will play his daughter-in-law Kim Gotti.
Now, TMZ is reporting that the 24-year-old starlet is in the verge of signing the film deal. She is expected to play Victoria, an author and former tabloid columnist who starred in "Growing Up Gotti" in 2004 with her three sons.
If Lohan secures the deal, it will be her first role since completing her court-ordered rehab stay at the Betty Ford Center.

MTV is not letting some guy claimed he created the original idea of "Jersey Shore". The network has responded to the claim that screenwriter Christopher Gambale came forward with "Guidos: The Reality Series" which is about "stereotypical guidos and guidettes" doing things like "Gtl before hitting the clubs."
Gambale said he pitched the idea in 2006 but never got a response from MTV until he issued a letter threatening to present them with a lawsuit. However, MTV insisted that they had been thinking about guidos reality show since 2004, taking example of "My Cousin Vinny," "Saturday Night Fever," and "Growing Up Gotti".
Plus, MTV also reminded Gambale that they ran "True Life: I'm A Jersey Girl" which featured "Tan young men with spiked hair and tight shirts" back in 2004.
MTV said in a letter obtained by TMZ that Gambale does not have a case against them. But, Gambale told the publication that he is not threatened.

MTV has responded to the allegations of a screenwriter who claims the network ripped off his idea for a reality TV show and called it "Jersey Shore." Christopher Gambale claims he first came up with the idea of guidos and guidettes in 2006, but MTV insists they've been in the business of guidos since 2004.
According to Gambale, he pitched the idea of a show called "Guidos: The Reality Series" to MTV in 2006. The show would focus on "stereotypical guidos and guidettes" that are obsessed with "Gtl before hitting the clubs."
He claims MTV never got him a response about his pitched show until he threatened to sue them in a letter.
But according to a letter MTV has recently fired, which TMZ obtained, the network says the portrayal of stereotypical Italian Americans is nothing new, citing "My Cousin Vinny," "Saturday Night Fever," and "Growing Up Gotti" as examples.

MTV Bosses Will Fight Jersey Shore Suit
Bosses at MTV have vowed to fight a potential lawsuit from a writer who alleges he came up with the idea for hit reality show Jersey Shore, branding his claims "utterly without merit".
Christopher Gambale has threatened to sue officials at the network, accusing them of using his outline for a project entitled Guidos: A Reality Series as the basis for their popular programme, about a group of young people living in New Jersey.
But Heather Windt, Vice President of Intellectual Property & Litigation at MTV, insists the theme has been portrayed numerous times in popular culture.
In a letter to Gambale's lawyer, Windt states: "Jersey Shore was not the first work to focus on young Italian Americans. By way of example only, this theme has been explored in works such as Saturday Night Fever, My Cousin Vinny, Kiss Me, Guido, and Growing Up Gotti...
The general idea of a show 'exploring the lifestyle of the Brooklyn/New Jersey Guido' is not copyrightable."

The Weinstein Company has announced plans to produce Mob Wives, a new reality series created by Jennifer Graziano. The 10-episode series has been picked up by VH1 and will premiere in March 2011. The show is also backed by Ben Silverman of Electus, whose past credits include Ugly Betty and The Office.
According to a press release, Mob Wives will follow four women “allegedly” associated with members of the mafia, who are moving on after their husbands or fathers are sent to prison. The title alone makes me think of Growing Up Gotti, the A&E reality series that introduced us to Victoria,...

The son of the notorious John Gotti aka ‘Dapper Don’ sold the rights to his life for a grand total of 15 million dollars to spin into a movie.
Entertainment Weekly Online reports that Gotti is working closely with Mark Fiore (producer) and actor Leo Rossi to construct a screenplay for this mafia film. Gotti reveals, “The story’s about redemption. My father had a hard time accepting that I ultimately didn’t want to follow his path.”
Some speculate whether it is necessary for another mafia movie, but we must take into consideration that we might need a break from all the comic book flicks. Granted there are quite a few movies that have spawned from the life stories of the mob or at least inspired by the dealings. Doesn’t mean there couldn’t be a successful telling. Currently, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire has had some valuable success so...

On the outset there's nothing particularly special about these three tiny cottages in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y. But according to Tina Fallon of real estate agency Realty Collective, the circa 1931 structures may be some of the increasingly rare architectural holdouts in a rapidly transforming area--there's already the gourmet grocery Fairway and an Ikea around the corner, heck, the The Real World: Brooklyn was even filmed nearby. So her company persuaded local developer Gino Vitale, who owns the properties, to bring awareness to Red Hook's changing community and small, forgotten houses everywhere by launching the Conover Cottage design competition. The top concepts for each cottage will be awarded $1,000, but more interestingly, the winning proposals will all be built.
Most of Red Hook's 11,000 residents live in what are called Red Hook Houses, which were completed in 1938 as part of a Wpa initiative. The six-story brown brick apartment buildings still dominate the landscape,...

I understand the "Relax, it's just a TV show" argument put forth by people who are loving MTV's trashy reality show Jersey Shore. I see how watching this group of obnoxious goofballs can be fascinating and entertaining. But please, let's not kid ourselves. It absolutely is offensive, and as an Italian-American myself, I feel like I need to call bullcrap on some of the arguments saying otherwise. I reached my breaking point yesterday morning while watching a Today Show segment in which NBC News correspondent Jeff Rossen read from what he said was a casting notice for Jersey Shore, claiming...

So, last night was the premiere of MTV's delicious, guido-loving, fist-pumping docu-reality series Jersey Shore, a show that's been ruffling more than a few feathers because it supposedly builds on negative stereotypes and bad behaviors of a subset of Italian-Americans that call themselves "guidos." But... did those haters actually watch the show? Well, I did, and I'm here to tell you it's pretty much the bomb. (Sorry if that offends you!) Sure, it's also pretty much complete trash—and it certainly does build on stereotypes of "guidos"—but c'mon! It's really just harmless fun. (And if you aren't one of...

When Andre Dimino saw the promos for MTV's new reality show, "Jersey Shore," which promises to offer a peek into the lives of the "hottest, tannest, craziest Guidos," he said he was offended.
"MTV is using very pejorative terms, 'Guido' and 'Guidette,' to promote a program and as a corporation that is not correct," said Dimino, national president of New Jersey-based Unico, which describes itself as the largest Italian-American service organization in the U.S. The series, which premieres Thursday at 10 p.m. Et/Pt, focuses on a group of young Italian-American men and women living on the shore: "sometimes surprising, often hilarious and usually over-the-top personalities as they juggle work, love, nightlife, friendship and the drama that ensues" — behavior Dimino said is offensive and stereotype-promoting.

I have a great best friend and she is a wonderful mother to three grown sons in their twenties who choose to live with her. Choose to!
Sue Carswell: My friend is Victoria Gotti who just wrote a memoir called, This Family of Mine: What It Was Like Growing Up Gotti. I've known "Vic" since 1995, when I was an editor at Pocket Books back when they refused to publish her first novel (ironically, fast-forward 14 years, they are her current publishers). It has always been interesting to be a close confidant to Victoria Gotti; sometimes I fill in mob terms that I am her capo, or her Sammy the Bull, as he was to her father, John Gotti -- but without all that backstabbing!
Wherever we go in public, perhaps because of her distinguished looks and that familiar chin with the dimple she shares with her father, people are amazed, or dumbfounded,...

Onetime reality-show star Victoria Gotti is finally admitting that her father, the former head of the Gambino crime family, was behind some of the most notorious murders in recent New York history. "I loved the man ... but I loathed the life, his lifestyle," Gotti, 46, tells the CBS newsmagazine 48 Hours Mystery in an episode to be aired Saturday. "How can anybody worship that life? How could anybody think there was any glory in that life? … I would lie awake nights and cry. 'Is my dad gonna come home? Is he gonna go to jail again? ... Is he going to get hurt?...

Gotti Saves New York Mansion With Federal Deal
Former U.S. reality TV star Victoria Gotti has saved her New York home from foreclosure after striking a deal with authorities.
The daughter of late mafia don John Gotti featured her $4.2 million (£2.8 million) mansion in Long Island on her 2004/2005 show Growing Up Gotti.
She faced losing the huge property last month - but has now reached an agreement with federal agents to settle two years' worth of loan payments totalling $650,000 (£433,330).
Gotti accused her ex-husband Carmine Agnello of failing to honour the financial terms of their 2003 divorce settlement and taking out a mortgage on the home without her knowledge.
The deal with the U.S. attorney's office means Gotti will be given the chance to buy 11 commercial properties once owned by Agnello, now under his mother Marie's name, so she can renovate them and sell them on - with the profit going to pay off her debt.
The agreement was finalised in Brooklyn Federal Court on Wednesday, but Gotti was not present for the hearing, reports the New York Daily News.

Victoria Gotti has saved her house from foreclosure, apparently by making a deal the feds could not refuse. In a transaction said to involve both the U.S. Attorney General's office and Gotti's former mother-in-law, the daughter of late Mob boss John Gotti will buy 11 commercial properties once owned by her ex-con ex-husband, Carmine Agnello - whose 85-year-old mother, Marie, was seeking $4 million for just three of the properties that had been valued at only $2 million, reports New York's Daily News. No purchase price was disclosed, but closing the deal will allow Gotti, 46, to turn around and sell the properties...

Now that a New York State Appellate Court ruling has placed in jeopardy Victoria Gotti's Long Island mansion - the five-bedroom, 5½-bath white brick residence familiar to viewers of her 2004 Growing Up Gotti reality show - the daughter of late Mob boss John Gotti declares, "This is by no means over!" Speaking outside Brooklyn Federal Court on Wednesday, after a hearing over her dispute with over her $650,000 debt to housing lender JPMorgan Chase, Gotti, 46, said, "I'm never going to lose the house - trust me," reports New York's two tabloids, the New York Post and Daily News. "The only way I'm leaving is selling it,...

Gotti's Estate Under Foreclosure
Former U.S. reality TV star Victoria Gotti's New York home is under foreclosure after she skipped two years of loan payments on the $4.2 million (£2.7 million) mansion.
The 46-year-old daughter of late mafia boss John 'Dapper Don' Gotti and her three sons were filmed around the massive Long Island mansion for their 2004/2005 show Growing Up Gotti.
According to court records, Gotti owes $650,000 (£424,840) to lender JPMorgan Chase and will lose the Old Westbury mansion that she won in her 2003 divorce with ex-husband Carmine Agnello.
The couple split while Agnello was serving a prison stint for racketeering, and the deed for the six-acre home was handed over to Gotti in 2005.
This isn't the first time Gotti has faced losing her house. She persuaded the bank to give her an extension on the mortgage with the condition that she would pay $200,000 (£130,720) by February 2006, at a rate of $25,000 (£16,340) per month, reports the New York Post.

A New York State Appellate Court ruling may cost Victoria Gotti her Long Island mansion - the five-bedroom, 5½-bath white brick residence familiar to viewers of her 2004 Growing Up Gotti reality show "I'm bitter," the daughter of late Mob boss John Gotti tells Newsday. "The house, all the marital assets, are part of a divorce package [from ex-husband, Carmine Agnello], I have never seen yet." A lower court decision in 2007 called a foreclosure on the property by JPMorgan Chase premature, and a Brooklyn appeals court reversed that ruling last week - as well as approved a plan to appoint a referee to coordinate the...

One of the first egregiously bad (not in the good way) reality series, "Growing Up Gotti" was staged in a gaudy, overwrought and enormous Long Island mansion. The mansion is now on the auction block, according to the New York Post. A&E filmed the reality show, "Growing Up Gotti" at the foreclosed home in 2004 and 2005. The show was a slice of pizza pie as Victoria wrangled her thick-headed sons, Carmine, John and Frank. The bank has seized Victoria Gotti's estate on Long Island because she is behind to the tune of $650,000 in mortgage payments, according to court paper made public today. John "Dapper Don" Gotti's daughter Victoria owes Gotti's lender, Jp Morgan Chase, for two years...
