The Simpsons may have lost some of its edge after nearly 25 years on the air, but in its heyday during the '90s, it's tricky to find any other sitcom to match it in terms of wit and cutting satire. Halloween always brought out the best in the show's writers, with the special 'Treehouse of Horror' episodes taking on an anthology format to tell three spooky stories in The Simpsons' own unique style.
Popular films and TV shows often get affectionately spoofed, while for many The Simpsons will have been an introduction to Edgar Allan Poe's poem 'The Raven'. With Halloween upon us, Digital Spy takes a look back at 13 classic 'Treehouse of Horror' segments below...

"No TV and no beer make Homer go crazy!" In this Halloween special, Homer and co become caretakers of Mr Burns's mansion in a brilliant homage to The Shining.

A forgotten Sarah Palin who worked with Democrats to pass landmark legislation emerges in the new documentary The Undefeated. Shushannah Walshe gets an early look and talks to director Stephen K. Bannon.
The Undefeated, a glowing, dramatic documentary about Sarah Palin's history from the former Alaska governor's point of view, is the latest step in Palin's effort to reframe her image ahead of a potential presidential run. And it may succeed in bringing in conservatives who loved her in 2008 but have been turned off since.

The film's director, Stephen K. Bannon, says he believes it will attract independents and liberals as well. "I think there is a huge audience out there for moderates and liberals that want to see this film," he told The Daily Beast. With over two billion video views a day, YouTube is - and has been for some time - the leading video site on the web. Its accessibility and ease of use have made it the most visited website in the world, with users worldwide eager to upload videos of themselves or friends doing what they love to do. Unfortunately, like many before it, YouTube are beginning to exploit their position, with advertisements and promotional intros now standard amongst much of the most viewed videos.
However, we here at Shadowlocked still believe that Youtube should be a place of laughter, education and intrigue, and are keen to help people remember why they first fell in love with the online giant. So, in what is set to be a fortnightly event, we bring you five enjoyable segments which are sure to make you laugh, smile and - courtesy of this week's number...

Comedian/radio-show host Dennis Miller, the self-professed libertarian, is known to have fiscally conservative views. So it's no surprise that he's not a big fan of Obamacare.
On 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37Am Et on CBS), Miller called President Obama a "nice man" but described the new policy as "a big sweaty encyclopedia salesman that we accidentally let into the living room, and it's gonna be tough to pry him out on the back porch again." He said the consequences could turn the country into "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure 3."
Craig Ferguson asked Miller what he thought of Sarah Palin. "I like Palin because, just because too many people who I don't respect hate her." Ferguson thought that was an interesting point. Miller went on to explain the (different) reasons men and women are drawn to her.

Let's think about this: Are there any stand-up comedians better than the three best stand-up comedians? There's Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, and Bill Cosby, then there's everyone else. Bill Hicks, old Dennis Miller, Billy Connelly, Patton Oswalt, Chris Rock -- all fantastic, but no one can really compete with the three greatest (at least in their stand-up primes). Call it bad parenting if you want, but I grew up on the stand-up specials from Murphy and Pryor, and listened to Cosby's on a record player. A record player, people!
Where's my point? Oh yes: There's going to be a documentary tonight on Showtime called Why We Laugh, which will explore the influence of black comedy, which will track the evolution of black comedy from Steppin Fetchit to Dave Chapelle, with stops on "Good Times," Def Comedy Jam, and The Original Kings of Comedy along the way. If you've got Showtime,...

When Russell Brand was announced as the host of this year's MTV Video Music Awards, he slid his way into a special place in history. He joins the short list of stars who have hosted the show more than once, and the extremely rare air of people who have hosted two years in a row.
Arsenio Hall was the first host to come back for another year — in fact, he led four straight shows from 1988 to 1991. Hall, the host of a wildly popular talk show, was right at home as the ringleader of MTV's rock and roll circus. He presided over Guns N' Roses' performance of "Welcome to the Jungle" in 1988, the set that got Andrew Dice Clay banned from MTV in '89, the 1990 show-wide attack on Tipper Gore and the Parents Music Resource Center, Paul Reubens' first public appearance (as Pee-wee Herman) after his lewd conduct arrest...

Apple and NBC Universal have ended a yearlong disagreement over pricing that had been keeping NBC TV shows off the iTunes Store.
The new arranement between NBC and iTunes introduces modest elements of tiered pricing that is expected to spur copycat deals.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs took the occasion of the company's "Let's Rock" event in San Francisco to announce that, beginning immediately, NBC shows including "Heroes" and "The Office" are available via iTunes for $1.99 per episode or $2.99 for HD versions.
Library titles will sell for 99 cents, and NBC will have the ability to group shows -- like Tina Fey's six favorite episodes of "30 Rock," for example -- at prices yet to be determined.
In September, NBC was the top seller of video content on iTunes, but the network pulled its shows off the service when Apple refused to let NBC fiddle with pricing.
